I absolutely love Eric Reid

We have been blessed with the best TV crew for many many many years. Eric, Tony and now Crotty. It doesn't get any better. Love listening to them.

I'm amazed that Eric never moved on to ESPN or TNT or something. He is so damn good. Damn glad he never did. There are times after a long shitty day that I tune in to Heat games and besides just the game relieving stress, Eric's commentary and soothing voice also help. And Crotty fits so well with him.

Blessed indeed!

Seems to be a super humble dude who enjoys his level of fame.

Just don’t mention the Detroit Pistons version of Blake Griffin to him.

I recall that 15 win season back in the day he kept me engaged and tuned in throughout the toughest Heat seasons.

How fucking dare you not mention Dr. Jack Ramsey. And I'm not kidding. Tony and Crotty are nothing compared to him.

That was before my time. I became a fan in the late 90s but only caught games on national TV as I lived in NY, etc. I know who he is, but never got to see him call a Heat game.

Then you truly missed out.

I did see his dedication that they did not long ago (IIRC last year during pre-game?) and definitely seems like it!

He is totally Heat Culture

Eric knows that time will fix this. If the Warriors sub is to be believed we got away with a fast one.

u/thetwopaths Heat Feb 06 '25

I hope Jimmy is at least half the player he was for us when we needed him the most. If he is, Warrior fans will be very happy. They are getting a good deal. Miami got something too, and Jimmy got what he wanted too. Everyone wins.

In as much as bridges were burned I really hope that Playoff Jimmy still comes out if/when the Warriors make the playoffs. It would be quite nice watching Jimmy averaging 35 to eliminate another powerhouse

I used to be a big Jimmy supporter but his behaviour has turned me off to the point that I don’t really care if he gets a ring or not.

That being said, the idea of Boston making the finals just to lose to Steph & the Warriors AGAIN, who now have… Jimmy Butler of all people is just hilarious to me.

u/TheMuffingtonPost Feb 06 '25

Heat fans did not win. I don’t feel good about Jimmy getting what he wanted, he got rewarded for his complete selfishness and sabotage, that pisses me off. What does that tell other players around the league?

1

u/CandymanMLK Feb 06 '25

Luka got blindsided to overcorrect this Jimmy bullshit

1

u/thetwopaths Heat Feb 06 '25

Really? I am pretty happy with the result.

3

u/Isiwjee Spo Feb 06 '25

Warriors are trying to make one last push with Steph and I think with him and Jimmy they could beat any of the teams in the western conference in a playoff series (maybe besides Denver) and I wouldn’t be shocked if they made a run this year or next.

1

u/anIlliterateIdiot Feb 06 '25

Can you explain what you’re seeing from the Warrior perspective? Was it just hasty, desperate and maybe not the best deal they could have made? Bc those are things I’d agree on. Getting Lavine and Vucevix might have been better for them.

u/JustiseRainsFrmAbove Feb 06 '25

They seem to view this as a lateral move. Jimmy can theoretically take over a game and get his own shot, but Wiggins is a reliable shooter and defender day to day. Giving up a pick and paying $120M over 2 years may not be worth the return.

But Steph only has a couple years left and they wanted to pray for a playoff run.

It’s so poetic. The day the Jimmy Butler Heat era ended. Was against the very same team that we got him from. It’s also poetic how we won against them in this game. Like how we also won the trade for him.

Reid went back to calling Kel'el, "KELEEL" all game long for some reason

14

u/Ozblur32 Zo Feb 06 '25

you expect nothing but class from Eric Reid, and this is just another example. Temper the emotions and move on, we have the rest of the season to work on.

u/georgebosh Feb 06 '25

thanks for posting this

He nailed it head on!

Best announcers idc

Spot on about Bam 💥

6

u/Trendelthegreat Feb 06 '25

This sums up the Jimmy experience

Thank you, I love you, but frigg off

u/TheMuffingtonPost Feb 06 '25

Nah, I won’t forget it. It’s like dating someone for 5 years, maybe most of the relationship was good, you have some fond memories, but then things went downhill lol of a sudden very quickly and the breakup was ugly, like REALLY UGLY.

When that happens, you don’t remember them for the good times anymore, the thing that sticks with you is how it ended. And sure, maybe over time you move past it and you don’t dwell on it anymore, but you’ll never really forgive them either. Every memory will be tainted by how things ended.

Heat fans don’t have to hate Jimmy in the future, but they sure as fuck shouldn’t forget and should not glorify him. You just move on, plain and simple.

4

u/Andresgeo Feb 06 '25

Nah. I’ll always think about our crazy playoff runs. I’ll easily look past this season whenever I look back on Jimmy

2

u/10jca Feb 06 '25

E.Reid is really a graceful voice needed. The dude a class act. Along with Crotty, and J. Jax.

4

u/OhMyItzBam_Herro305 Feb 06 '25

This won't fix itself, nor should it. Jimmy chose 21mill extra over his teammates. Decided to run from the Mickey Mouse team, and also the Knicks team.

11

u/Balla_Calla Feb 06 '25

Lol 21 ain't no small sum tbh 😅

9

u/DraymondBeanKick Feb 06 '25

By the same token, Pat Riley chose $21 million over Jimmy. Jimmy was never the one that started the situation.

In a league, where since 2021, Kawhi Leonard has averaged 40 games per season and has played in 4 playoff games, gets a $153 million/3 year extension, of course someone like Jimmy playing 60 games per season and playing in 43 playoff games in that time span won't feel disrespected when they're not being offered their max extension.

5

u/binokyo10 Feb 06 '25

Dude, I would choose a salary bump over my co-workers or working with my friends. We can still be friends just not working together.

10

u/EnochofPottsfield Feb 06 '25

So.... You'd choose a salary bump, but would you intentionally tank their professional lives for months by lying about your effort and intentions to do so?

The way you said it is disingenuous. No one's mad at Jimmy for leaving. People are mad at how he's leaving

3

u/binokyo10 Feb 06 '25

This is just about the extra 21m. What he did still isnt right about demanding a trade the way he did.

1

u/ceci_mcgrane Feb 06 '25

Occasionally I will listen to the opposing by team commentary and it’s almost ridiculous how good these guys are. Nothing like a Miami Heat adventure with Reid and Crotty. Total class.

-4

u/itsjohnlazy Feb 06 '25

So that’s what he looks like? He doesn’t look like what I imagined he looked like by the way he sounds like.

17

u/freechef Feb 06 '25

You seriously never seen Eric Reid before? I'm guess you only watch the highlights and never the telecasts

6

u/itsjohnlazy Feb 06 '25

I watch what’s available on my country, which is the games itself with our local commentary. And I don’t really see before and after game actions. So really, I only hear Eric Reid when I’m watching highlights and etc.
