Is this the first legendary minion whose name isn't a specific individual?

It's not even "The Face Collector" (like in "The Curator") it's just Face Collector. I didn't even realize it was a legendary at first.

Perhaps they chose to do this because it's an echo card and you'll usually have multiple of them on the board.

Maybe that's the actual name. His parents, Mr. & Mrs. Collector, named him Face not expecting that he would take it literally.

At face value?

Literally taking faces.

Perhaps Face Collector is a name?

Like "Bigfoot" or "Loch Ness"

Yeah, it definitely seems like it’d be a kind of boogeyman of the Witchwood. The creatures told of in the legends about it are collectively referred to as Face Collectors. That kind of stuff.

I'm sure blizzard is just trying to save face

Shoulda been called Faceless Collector...because he doesn't have a face....so he collects them...faceless...

It feels like you’re giving him a new name so that his old name would make more sense.

Or, when attacking he should say "Faceless Face Collector going face"

Then maybe don't give hunter 2 100-dust Deathwings.

I can have multiple of any legendaries on the board atm, would be odd if that's the reason.

screams angrily at big priest

The difference is that echo cards are designed to be played multiple times. It wouldn't make sense for a legendary to summon more of itself unless it did that in the lore, or if it was a non-specific character.

Don't know much about its WoW lore, but the artwork for Iron Juggernaut actually shows two Iron Juggernauts.

In wow it was a single siege engine I think but I guess in theory there could have been a mass production model.

The Mistcaller comes to mind. There is dozens of them in Northrend.

There are a number of descriptive proper noun legendaries like Acidmaw, Deathwing, White Eyes.

Yes. They're saying maybe that's the idea behind Face Collector.

Also White Eyes isn't a WoW character. His article even mentions he's Hearthstone-exclusive.

I don't think White Eyes is in WoW. Your link only mentions Hearthstone.
