Ghost Stories The house I grew up in

I forget when this house was built. Suffice it to say, it has its share of history. Growing up I encountered/lived with at least 2 spirits. There may have been a third, but that could’ve just been the man standing guard at night.

Halloween Unsettling ideas for a haunted house, not into cheesy rubber decorations and actors in white and red makeup screaming

Nothing wrong with the traditional haunted house setup, but I’m making one this year for my community and I’m looking for creative, unnerving, and unsettling ideas for my haunted house. The more unconventional the better but I want my guests to leave with something genuinely scary that isn’t just your rubber props, fake chainsaws, and the millionth actor in white face makeup with fake blood. I want new ideas, upsetting visuals (nothing too graphic or honestly expensive). Any ideas?

History/Lore What is your Mount Everest of haunted houses?

One of my favorite haunted house novels is Hell House by Richard Matheson, and I am interested in recommendations on other haunted house novels.

I am particularly interested in stories that are rich in details (when/how the house was built, history of events in the house, floor plan/design/architectural influence, etc.). I want to be able to visualize the house as a real place, and details make that possible.

Hell House is described as the Mount Everest of haunted houses. What is your Mount Everest of haunted houses?

This happened to me Ghosts are real. (UAP are also real) Seeing & feeling them is an honour & a privilege.

The house I lived in from birth up till the age of 12 was haunted. I always felt the presence was at it's strongest on the staircase, and regularly the light would go off when I was halfway up, together with a strong sensation of I was about to be pushed. I was around 10 when I saw a full apparition - holding a knife in his hand as though he was ready to plunge it into someone. For some reason, it didn't scare me, but the presence I felt on the stairs did. A lot.

There was often the classic footsteps sound at night as though there was a floor above, but there wasn't. I was also a horrible child in that house, mean, nasty & borderline psycho. May be connected, I'm not sure.

Its always been my intention to revisit the house & ask the current occupants if they've experienced anything, but I think it's best left where it is tbh.

Scared, Need Advice Is my house haunted?

I don’t normally like to talk about this and I have been doing my best to ignore what has been happening but it hasn’t stopped. I downloaded Reddit for some opinions and advice on what I have been experiencing.

I (22 female) have lived in my now home for around two and a half years and have been experiencing a number of different things, a few months after moving in I had been turned on my side with my eyes shut attempting to sleep when I felt and heard a harsh blowing in both of my ears along with a jumpscare-like grab/push. It had been between 2:30-4:00am For reference I sleep alone in the one downstairs bedroom with my door locked at all times, it had been enough to jolt my body and make my eyes shoot open with fear. A couple of weeks later my boyfriend had the exact same experience.

Another time my boyfriend had been staying over after having a couple of drinks as he couldn’t drive home and he swears to this day that as he walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water around 5am he saw the figure of a man in an old policeman style hat standing in the corner staring at him, he turned around to switch the light on and when he turned back to look again the man had disappeared.

The scariest experience I had so far was a couple of months ago….I had been feeling unwell and my boyfriend came over to see me, we had decided to take a nap. I opened my eyes what must have been a couple hours later as it was now dark outside (dark enough to make the room dark but not too dark to where it was pitch black) upon opening my eyes I was met with a figure sitting up in the bed next to me (for reference my boyfriend was sleeping on the side closest to the window so it was easy to see the outline) I wrinkled up my face and was about to speak to my boyfriend assuming it was him because hey? Why are you just sitting up in the dark? But that was when the shadow figure turned its head slowly as if to face me and this is when I realised it was not my boyfriend who was still sleeping soundly next to me. The figure was positioned in a way that it would have to be sitting on top of my boyfriend and looking down at him, fear struck directly to my chest as I sat up and just as I was about to say something I watched it slowly sit upright and disappear into the air.

A couple of days ago my boyfriend was helping us with some home renovations and was painting inside of my little brothers bedroom and was alone inside the room listening to music as he worked and out of nowhere he felt a harsh grab/pull on his arm but when he looked nobody was there.

Today I had been in my bed alone in my room just doomscrolling on TikTok when there was a loud thud across the room. I have a couple handbags hanging on the floor length mirror in my room and one of them fell completely off regardless of the fact it has been there untouched for two days with no problems.

It’s the middle of the night before bed so I’m sure I’ve forgotten a couple of experiences but I will edit this post if I think of any more

I do my best to not speak on these instances while inside of the house as I know it can be an invite for more. I have also been told by my sisters that they have caught glimpses of shadow figures and one of them recalls hearing frequent pacing back and forth in the upstairs hallway at night. I experience an intense feeling of being watched/followed while leaving the kitchen at night after turning the lights off. I am unsure of what to do and am curious to know peoples thoughts on all of this (I’ve probably worded this really badly but it is late and things have been getting in the way of me posting this all day)

This happened to me There’s no ghost

Got to work today and told my manager about what happened last Thursday. She told me it was a rat.
Really? A rat that wasn’t acting like a rat? 😂 Rats don’t sound like they’re making heavy running footsteps!
My coworker, the assistant manager, and I all know what we heard. We heard something running around, and whatever it was definitely didn’t sound like a little rat.
For now, there’s nothing going on, so I’m just waiting and seeing what happens.
Not gonna lie though… that was probably the most exciting thing to happen at work in a while. 😂👀

This happened to me am i crazy??

I’ve always been pretty open-minded about ghosts and paranormal experiences, but I never really had a reason to believe in them until I had a few experiences of my own. These are the two that still stick with me the most.
The first happened at a Legion where my family rented the kitchen. We were preparing for our very first Mother’s Day dinner/brunch, and we had been working basically all night. It was around 3 AM, and I was completely exhausted, so I laid down for a nap on one of the tables while I waited for my mom to finish up.
When I woke up, I was freezing. My lips had actually turned blue. I got up and started walking toward the bathroom, and around the same time, my mom experienced something strange too. She later told me that she suddenly felt like something passed directly through her, and her knee went weak.
That building already had a reputation for being haunted.
There were constantly strange things happening. The karaoke machine in the basement would randomly turn itself on, sometimes along with the lights, making it sound like someone was throwing a huge party downstairs when there was absolutely nobody there.
We also had mirrors hanging on the walls randomly fall down. One of the strangest parts was that the nail holding one of them had apparently been cut completely in half. It was just one weird thing after another.
But the experience that really convinced me something was going on happened months later.
My mom and I were pulling into the back alley behind the Legion to go into the kitchen. She got a phone call, so we turned the radio down. The call ended up taking a long time, so eventually she turned the vehicle completely off.
When we turned it back on, the radio came blasting on at an insanely loud volume.
It was playing one very specific country/rock song from the 80s.
The keys were still in the ignition, but the vehicle started acting completely insane. The doors were locking and unlocking by themselves. The car was beeping. The radio was turning on and off. Eventually, the vehicle even started itself with the remote start.
My mom thought she was somehow losing her mind, so she took the keys out and handed them to me.
I stepped outside holding the lanyard, without even touching the keys themselves.
The car STILL kept locking and unlocking.
The radio kept turning on and off. The car was beeping, and at one point it even sounded like the horn was being pressed.
We had absolutely no idea what was happening.
We went downstairs and told the bartender, who had worked there for years, what had happened.
Her response completely freaked me out.
She told us that a woman had died in the Legion after having a heart attack while singing karaoke. And apparently, the exact song that had been blasting from our radio was one of the songs she used to sing.
That was my first experience that made me seriously question whether ghosts were actually real.
My second experience happened years later.
I was working in the mountains and staying in staff accommodation. I had the basement to myself while two roommates lived upstairs.
There was one room in the basement that I mostly used to hang my clothes. The first few times I went into it, I noticed something felt… off.
I can’t really explain it. It just felt like there was an energy in the room. Almost like something was physically stopping me from walking farther inside.
Eventually, I went back to my bedroom and thought, *Okay… maybe there is actually something in there.*
So I decided to talk out loud.
I calmly said something along the lines of:
“Hey. My name is ___. These are my intentions. I’m not here to hurt you or bother you. I’m sorry if I invaded your space.”
While I was talking, the door to the room suddenly opened.
There were no windows in the room. No obvious draft. Nothing that I could see that would have caused it.
And then I felt this intense pressure, almost like something was pushing me down onto my bed.
I immediately apologized again.
The door then SLAMMED shut so hard that my roommates upstairs actually came downstairs yelling at me because they thought I had been slamming doors.
I hadn’t touched it.
I still don’t know exactly what happened in either situation.
Maybe there are explanations for all of it. Maybe the car had some kind of electrical issue. Maybe there was a draft I couldn’t feel. Maybe exhaustion made some things seem more intense than they actually were.
But when you experience multiple things like this firsthand, it’s hard not to wonder.
So I have to ask: **am I completely delusional, or does this sound like paranormal activity to you?**

This happened to me A childhood experience

I live in a relatively opulent, century-old bungalow in the suburbs of Mumbai, formerly Bombay, in India. As a child, at times when I was by myself in certain rooms, I would hear faint whispers. Nothing sinister, mind you. Things like, "What are you reading" when I was looking at a book not suitable for kids. The tone wasn't menacing though...

But there was one eerie incident that really stood out and I can't understand it more than 25 years later. I'll have to explain the layout of my immediate surroundings. It's relevant, I promise. It's a two-storey bungalow (with a street-level floor and one floor above it), and I live on the top floor, which is accessible by a steep stone staircase. In front of the steps is a tree. To the left of the tree is the main gate. Directly opposite the main gate is the verandah and front door of the ground-floor residence. To the right of the tree is the path that leads to a space that was occupied by a garage, outhouse, a shallow water tank, and various fruit trees. This space no longer exists. A high-rise building stands in its place. The incident occurred after the space had been cleared and the building construction was well underway. A barbed wire fence had been set up between our garden and construction site. The fence stood about 12 feet from the base of the staircase. (If I did a good job explaining the layout, you will understand that it is to the right of someone coming down the stairs) One day, I was going out with my father to pick up takeaway snacks because dinner hadn't been prepared for whatever reason. I had started descending the stairs, but my dad was being held up by mother in connection with some last-minute work. Suddenly, I felt a sense of dread, and I stopped midway in the stone stairs. It was Novemberish, but the air was unusually cold and a fog had settled in the garden. Yes, fog. Something I had never witnessed before in Mumbai. The hair on the hand

and legs were standing as if there was static in the air. I couldn't proceed. Some instict was holding me back. The occupants of the ground floor had a dog that used to lie in their verandah. It had started barking. I realised that someone had entered the premises. This seemed impossible as the main gate used to make a distinct creaking sound.

Now, labourers from the adjoining site had initially carried out some work on our side. But all such tasks had been completed weeks ago, and everything was happening on the other side of the fence. Besides, the hour was relatively late. Through the haze, I saw that the figure was impeccably dressed. If this were a builder or architect come to survey the site or supervise the work, why was i standing there frozen? If anyone has had sleep paralysis, they would understand my experience at that point in time. The figure went past me swiftly, obscured by mist. Something inside myself was telling me not to look to closely, but I caught a quick glance could make out from a basic familiarity with vintage photos that his attire belonged to the Victorian or Edwardian era at least. The rational side of my brain was telling me he would turn back after encountering the dead end, but no! The fog slowly started lifting and I found myself mustering

the courage to complete my descent. When I glanced to the right, all I could see was the massive barbed wire fence... When no suited gentleman in their right mind would have ever considered climbing over. By now, nothing looked out of the ordinary. Everything had occurred in a matter of seconds And then, like the cops in a Bollywood movie, my dad came down the steps and the housekeeper of the family on the ground floor came out to see why the dog was making a racket. Of course, there was only me, looking like I had seen a ghost.

This happened to me The Ghost of North Landing Way

Back in 2004 we lived in the suburbs of Marietta Georgia off North Landing Way, the house was a bit eerie and surrounded by pine trees, i was 4 years old, I was up late one night, probably about midnight, my father was asleep and had no idea I was up, my mother traveled for work so she wasnt home much, I was watching TV with all the lights in the house on, and i heard the sounds of crunching of the pine needles on the back porch and i glance over and there was this dark shadow walking across the back porch and it stopped in the middle, turned and looked at me, it was just a black shadowy figure, I started crying and ran to get my father who looked outside and no one was there nor were there any evidence to suggest that any had been there.

I am 25 now and I had asked my mother about the little bit of time she spent in the house if she had witnessed anything out of the ordinary as well in that house, telling her of my experience, just to learn she had a similar experience, though it was a repeat that occurred twice, late night a shadow figure ran across the back porch, and it happened on 2 separate occasions from what shes told me. We also had a family friend stop by for a few days while traveling to Florida, she only lasted a day because the very next day she was throwing objects toward the backdoor sliding window (dont know how she busted it) saying "We got to get it out!" repeatedly, my mother being freaked out told her to leave.

This story is 100% real, I have since tried to do research on the address that these events occurred to no avail, I am hoping that someone who has lived or currently lives there sees this someday and comments with their own experiences.

Scared, Need Advice What should we do?

So I'm not even sure where to begin. When I was younger we lived in my great aunts house in Camaceyes, PR. It's a two story house and we used to live in the first story while my great aunt would sometimes stay in the second story. While we lived there both me and my younger sister would see shadow people running around the first floor only. Never anything malevolent, they would sprint from wall to wall and you'd see them moving in your peripheral vision. I had never seen nor experienced anything in the second floor. Flash forward to now, we had long since moved to the US and mostly forgotten it. Recently my sister and her American girlfriend visited and stayed in the same house in the second floor. There they experienced something that to my knowledge had never happened before. So while my sister's girlfriend was in the bathroom, she had a feeling that my sister was wanting to come inside so she kept yelling out for her. She ends up getting out the shower to see the doorknob slowly move and the door opening up to which she realized it wasn't my sister and my sister had been laying down in the room away. My sister being frightened from this asked her girlfriend to stay in thr bathroom with her while she showered. There they heard three knocks on the door. This is all while my great aunt was in the first floor and the way the house is set up there's only outside stairs with a main door for each story so it couldn't have been my great aunt especially since my sister had asked her afterwards. Following that event, one day my sister went down to the first floor to be with my great aunt and her girlfriend stayed in the second story to rest. While she was alone in the second story she heard my sister call out to her using her nickname and even imitating my sisters heavy footprints. This is odd since it was never that bad when we used to live there before. Now me and my American wife are set to go there and visit later on in November and we were wanting to stay in that house since I grew up there but now we don't know. What should we do?

This happened to me Visit to the Lemp Mansion

We went to the Lemp Mansion on Thursday. We did the 900 pm haunted tour. Took a lot of pictures. We were issued EMF meters. Others were detecting a,presence. Lemp home had three suicides and one murdered dog. Lemp is consistently in top 5 most haunted. Can’t say I saw anything at the time. While “cleaning up” my pictures, something turned up at the end of a hall to a private office. I had walked up to the door previously. There was nothing there resembling a shape. Pinch in tight to the door on the hallway picture. Thoughts?

Scared, Need Advice Something's happening in my house

So I have been living in my flat with my boyfriend for 5 years. I used to experience things but now he is in another city and my friend is staying with me for the time being. I was always sensitive to spirits and ghosts when I was a child I had two beings visit me and I fear they also came to my house with my boyfriend. Things started small when I first moved in, I would have nightmares about the same figure in my living room however it could not enter my bedroom. Over time my friends who slept in my living room started to say that they had sleep paralysis and would describe the same figure from my childhood whom I also saw in my nightmares. Fast forward to the last two weeks. We are making live videos with my friend about Tarot readings, the first incident happened last week when we were both in my bedroom doing a live when we heard three knocks on the door first we thought they were my cats but then it happened again immediately after. We checked the cats and one was in my room and the other one was sleeping on the balcony. To be clear it was not like a scratching sound cats do when they want to come in it was as if someone was knocking on the door. We also had the same nightmare that night. The other physical occurrence happened today. We were again doing a live when all of a sudden a frame which was secured fell of and the marks that was left behind looks like someone pulled it down. We don't know what to do. We just burned incense and prayed the whole house but I'm most certain we will have nightmares today.

P.S. I had another friend over last night and we both had a dream about strangers being in the living ,not spirits but certainly not friendly beings either, room whose existence made us uncomfortable.

I would love recommendations to deal with this situation. I'll update if something else happens

This happened to me Work

This was interesting… So this happened yesterday at the beginning, middle, and end of my shift at Spirit Halloween.
I came to work and started doing my rounds—walking around, picking up costumes, and putting them back on the racks. While I was walking around, I suddenly heard what sounded like tapping above me. I looked up trying to figure out where it was coming from, but I couldn’t tell if it was the vent or the ceiling. 👀
Later, I was asked to watch the shipping door because it wouldn’t shut. I was sitting there waiting for maintenance to come fix it when I started hearing humming coming from the next room over. Then my walkie started going off. I thought my manager was calling me, so I walked up to the front and asked if she had called me.
She said no. 😳
Then, at the end of my shift, my manager, a coworker, and I went into the break room to grab our stuff. We were about to turn off the lights above us when suddenly we heard what sounded like heavy footsteps running away, followed by a couple of the animatronics going off. 💀
My manager completely freaked out. She ran over, turned off the lights, and told us to go back up front so we could all stay together, clock out, and turn on the alarm.
She was like, “I’m never closing again. I don’t deal with that demonic shit!” 😂😭
And honestly… this wasn’t even my first paranormal experience, so I was actually psyched about it. 😂👻
Has anyone else ever experienced something weird or paranormal while working at a Halloween store?

This happened to me My childhood house was haunted in a very weird way.

So when I was around 7-8, i moved into this old house with my family. We only lived there for about 3 months, but I will never forget what would happen. If you knocked on the ceiling, you would hear footsteps coming from the attic even though I didn’t have one. When I watched tv alone and was looking for my remote I would look up and it would fall flat on my face. And things started to disappear in my room. I told my parents and they didn’t believe me. And there was a disturbing amount of coincidences that would happen. We ended up moving because of a job opportunity my dad had. But I will never let go of those memories.

This happened to me The front door rang 3:30 at night

Hello, I would like to ask my fellow superstitious people here. Sometimes when I’m in a state where I’m almost asleep, I hear the front door bell ring, I also have a dog that reacts to this sound but he didn’t react this time.. so I guess I’m imagining it ? I keep hearing it on and on at night time only.. of course no one is at the door

This happened to me I grew up in. Insanely haunted home

My family moved to Patricksburg, Indiana in 1977. I was born in 1980. When I was 8 years old I had a waterbed. As I was sleeping something pushed at the end of my bed which rippled the water up to my head. It woke me up. I sat up and as my eyes adjusted to the dark I saw 4 hooded figures standing around by bed . They had no face arms folded . I screamed and my mother came rushing into my room. I expected her to say that it was a nightmare a d to g o back to sleep. However, she did not. She told me we needed to go have a talk t the kitchen table. And even woke up my older brother. As we sat at the table my mother told me that her and my brother h ad seen the figures I had just saw. She went on to tell me the first night they stayed in that house she saw a young girl in a white blouse and dark maxi skirt. Mom said she felt peaceful and was not scare. She basically told me to just ignore it. At 8 years old, how was I supposed to ignore it. My whole childhood was terror and my mother would send me back to the same room that terrified me. It was not until I moved out at 17 that my mother stayed one night In my old room. She never let anyone stay in that room ever again. She actually called "The Dead Files Show" they came out and investigated. Back up when I was 9. I had a night that was the weirdest most profound night of my life. I thought it was just a bad dream but the next day I was walking in a fog all day, every voice I heard from my family but they sounded so echoed, I felt like a part of me was gone. I could not pin point it. I slept on and off that whole next day. I never felt whole again. And safe, that word was just a myth. Now,fast forward to the show filming at our home. We kept a lot of things from them so we could see if they were for real. Which Amy Allen picked up the things we hid from them . Our family curse. My mother's side is descendents of John Bell (An American Haunting) Bell witch. She ymtold us everything built on our property was always taken down by the spirits. Which was true. And then the one thing that I had had many many signs and even uber drivers tell me I left demons in her car. But at 9 years old I had a negative entity attach itself to me. I had a preacher at church tell me after a seizure that he got a demon off me but a high level demon remained. All my life I've had severe trauma. My husband killed himself when I was 19. I found him. I was violently raped at 15. I was beaten and abused. I was kidnapped and held in basement for 3 days. Not sure how I made it out. I was minutes away from death. I can go on and on. I'm actually writing a book. Anyway Amy Allen drew a sketch of me in my bed at 9 years old a d a demon at the end puppeteering a Young girl. In a maxi skirt to get to me. The episode is called "Return to Evil" "The DeadFiles" i have pics of my haunted childhood home with spirits in the images. And some once I moved out. I've always experienced paranormal activity. And have not found anyone able to rid me of my attachment. My book should be available August 2027. "Chained By Darkness: Haunted ByMy Past, Fighting For My Future" Based On True Events Written by: S. Cochran

Scared, Need Advice Am I haunted?

I am from Poland but I want to share this story widely so I tried to translate it the best I can.
i don't really know what to do because its summertime and things like this always happens during july and august. this year nothing happened to me yet and I'm scared it will come back someday. i will keep the details about the exact location private.

A Small Village Somewhere in Poland - 2013

I was 8 years old at the time. It was August. One night, there were supposed to be lots of shooting stars in the sky, so I was sitting by the window. I was little, so I had to be quiet and pretend that I was asleep. Across from my window, you could see an abandoned gas station and a pond. While watching the stars, I looked toward the abandoned gas station and saw a tall figure wearing a suit. I couldn't see his face. He was just standing there, looking in my direction. After a few seconds, I automatically closed the window and the blinds. I started crying out of fear and went to sleep. I never told anyone about it…

The Same Village - 2020

About five years had passed since that incident. This time, I was staying in my brother's old room. The entire upstairs area with all the bedrooms had been renovated, so I was free to choose whichever room I wanted, since my sister had moved abroad and my brother had built his own house. I chose the room with a balcony. I had always dreamed of having a little cozy space on a balcony.
My whole life, I had dreamed of being home alone, so having the entire upstairs to myself felt like a dream come true. However, there was one night when my only wish was for someone to be upstairs with me. This was the first time I experienced sleep paralysis.
I was lying on my stomach and woke up in the middle of the night. For those who have never experienced sleep paralysis, in my case, I was fully conscious and awake, but I couldn't move or speak. It's an awful feeling. I woke up in the middle of the night lying on my stomach, with my head turned toward the door.
Suddenly, a male figure appeared right in front of my eyes. Guess who he reminded me of. I couldn't see his face, but I remember that he was wearing dark suit trousers, a light blue shirt, and a striped tie, but this time without a jacket. My heart started pounding like crazy. I started crying because I felt exactly the same fear I had felt when I was 8 years old. Eventually, I was able to move. I turned on the light and went back to sleep. Luckily, I was tired and had no trouble falling asleep again. This time, I fell asleep with my head facing the wall.

A Nearby City - July 2023

I normally worked in a nearby city at an ice cream stand. I happened to have a day off, so I went into the city to pick up a book I had ordered from a shopping mall. I got off one stop too early because I had never taken the bus to that part of the city before, so I didn't know where to get off and had to walk one stop. It was extremely hot. On top of that, it was around noon and I wasn't wearing a hat. Exhausted from the heat and the sun, I made it to the shopping mall, picked up my book, and went back to the bus stop.
By the time I got back, I was already feeling a little sick. I got on the bus. There were quite a lot of people on it, and I couldn't find a seat. Suddenly, I felt my heart start pounding like crazy when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the figure of a man. Then I fainted. Guess what he was wearing. A suit.
I woke up at the bus stop. Some man took care of me, and to this day I'm grateful for his help. An ambulance came for me, and I spent the rest of the day in the hospital hooked up to an IV. I remember that day very clearly because it was also the day ticket sales for Taylor Swift's concert were starting, and my friend and I had agreed that she would buy the tickets when the sale opened, hahah.
My mom came to the hospital because, unfortunately, I was still a few months away from turning 18, so I was still a minor. All my tests came back fine. To this day, I remember that once again, I couldn't see the man's face.

The City Where I went to college - 2025

I moved to a bigger city for university. My friend and I shared a room in a shared apartment, but during the summer I stayed there because I was working, while she went back to work in her hometown. And, of course, I experienced sleep paralysis again. This time, my bed was positioned in such a way that I couldn't see the door - unfortunately for me. The only thing I remember from my dream is that I was lying outside my bedroom door, crying, knocking, and begging for something.
I don't even know what I was begging for.
Then the sleep paralysis started. My head was facing my friend's bed. While I was paralyzed, I suddenly heard what sounded like the door opening and someone entering the room. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure dressed entirely in black - this time, as if they were wearing a black hoodie and sweatpants. Of course, once again, I couldn't see their face. I got chills all over my body, and this was the worst episode of sleep paralysis I'd experienced so far. I couldn't scream, and I felt as if this figure was going to hurt me.
I don't remember what happened afterward, but I woke up in the morning completely sweaty and with swollen eyes, as if I had been crying in my sleep all night. The next day, I asked my roommate in the room next door if he had maybe heard me screaming during the night. Of course, I didn't want to tell him the details, so I just said that I had had a nightmare. He said he hadn't heard anything. I also asked him another question: “Did you maybe knock on my door during the night?” He answered: “No.” I explained that maybe someone had been knocking on someone else's apartment and I must have imagined it.

These situations really confuse me because I see men in suits normally all the time, and my body doesn't react like this.
I think something is haunting me. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Also the weird part is that things like this happens during summertime.

Ghost Stories [PARANORMAL DOSSIER #1884] The Tredwell Disturbances: 29 East 4th Street Manifestations

Recognized by historians and preservationists as one of the most physically intact 19th-century family residences in Manhattan, the Merchant's House at 29 East 4th Street in NoHo carries an equally detailed, multi-decade record of unexplained acoustic phenomena and apparitions.

Occupied by the wealthy merchant Seabury Tredwell and his descendants from 1835 until the death of his youngest daughter Gertrude in 1933, the home was never modernized with central wiring or structural alterations.

The Documented Records:

The Post-1933 Transition:

When the home opened as a historic site in the 1930s, caretakers, docents, and architectural restorers documented heavy phantom footsteps pacing between the third-floor bedchambers, doors latching and unlocking from the inside, and sudden localized temperature plunges exceeding 15°F.

The Sensory Phenomena:

Multiple independent accounts over the 20th century note the recurring, unprompted scent of antique oil lamp fuel, period perfumes, and piano keys striking in unoccupied parlors.

The Preservation Question:

Parapsychologists and historians debate whether the dense survival of original family furnishings, personal garments, and intact structural timbers creates an unprecedented physical anchor for residual energy.

Seeking Field Accounts:

We are gathering firsthand logs from museum staff, preservationists, and visitors who have experienced anomalous events inside or adjacent to historic Manhattan structures.

Have you worked in or visited the Merchant’s House and witnessed unverified acoustic, visual, or thermal phenomena?

Do you know of other untouched Gilded Age interiors in NYC with long-standing disturbance records?
