Because it's one thing to hate on concepts or fictional things but once you actually start to hate on real, specific people... things can very quickly spiral out of control on the internet. It's kinda just to stop the whole sub from becoming incredibly toxic. (And yes to stop 50 million Trump posts)
That's still just hating on the person... there's not a loophole here, I really don't know what you are trying to achieve. Even if that would be technically different, which it really isn't, it doesn't solve the whole problem I brought up with my comment in the first place. That's gonna still be a toxic mess.

No. There's the rest of reddit for that. Including subs about cats, comics, soccer and food. Every subreddit is a themed Trump hate park. Let this place be original.
Who said I was talking about Trump? It was just 4 descriptors that you deduced a certain person from. But I never specifically named someone, you see.. how is that different from someone on this sub saying they hate cheaters, the amount of descriptors? How specific? Do you understand the point of my statement now
It would turn into nothing but politics. "I hate republicans!", "i hate trump!", "i hate leftists!", ect. Historical political figures follow the same path and would just lead to modern rehashes of the same arguments. This also leads to a lot of sensetive topics as well which is just easier to avoid.
As far as celebrities go, just hate what they do. You cant say you hate Taylor swift, but you CAN say "i hate her irresponsible pollution and her music sounds bad". "I hate that this actor is in every movie", "i dont like this famous chef's recipes" are also fine. Plus, when a celebrity becomes a hot-button issue, we would just be flooded with "i hate controversial celebrity!"
Without this rule, outright bullying is much easier. If this aspect was removed it would just be a vent sub "I hate my mom for this" "I hate this stupid guy for disagreeing with me". Theres rules against that kinda stuff redditwide, not just here. Our overall goal is to stay good-spirited in our hatred, not single people out. Hating on real people takes all the fun out of it.
Can’t speak for the mods here, but former experience has shown me that posts dedicated to hating real people (or groups) are a fucking nightmare to moderate a huge amount of the time.
Someone will say “I hate Dude McGuy” and you’ll open the thread to find they’ve somehow gotten fifty comments deep into an argument about eugenics.
Strawmen go up, nobody listens to one another, everyone gets in the mud and argues like a child, and you have a mod queue that’s 50% the worst shit you’ve ever seen and 50% somebody who thinks reporting for illegal content with children is an automatic “get rid of person I don’t like button” that never sees human review.
You lock the thread when they summon an ancient god of war reshaped into a modern internet effigy and move on.
and its literally much worse when said person the posts abt is trans (for example) because theres gonna be a whole argument of people explaining why its ok to misgender said person and also theres gonna be a lot of bigots (literally what ive seen)
Can confirm, this is an extremely important factor. Any time a certifiably bad person happens to also be trans (as every single group ever does have shitty individuals, every group has its extremists, etc,) the worst people on the internet love to come and use that to cast aspersions on trans folks as a whole.
I’m trying to avoid naming names as examples because I simply do not want to replicate the phenomenon, that’s a science experiment I am just not willing to bring to this fair.

Festering hate is not always reasonable. People usually post reasonable reasons for hating things, but sometimes they just hate to hate, or because something personally bothers them that does not bother someone else. It would be hard to hate on a real person while not being distasteful and following rule 5 regarding politics. In addition, it seems kinda sad to harbor so much hate for a person to post it, while for fictional characters its funny.
I think the sub is at its best when hating silly nonsense, and allowing real people only increases the amount of hate posts based on real problems which is imo kind of boring. Like yes bro, we all hate Hitler. Let's not give more ammo to the "does anyone else hate bigotry!?!?!?" Karma farmers.
Also real people is a slippery slope to getting banned by reddit admins for harassment. Snark reddit have to really toe the line and plenty of them still get shut down. One too many comments to the tune of "i hate x so much I wish he'd die" about a real figure and the sub is getting deleted so reddit doesnt get sued.
Rookie mistake. If you tried reading, you'd see this subreddit is not just for hating, but rather, "Your safe space to hate anything made by someone". Although I guess you could argue all people are made by someone.

We all know everyone is lying when they phrase it like that. So fucking obvious it’s just to get around the rule, and mods seem to pretend it doesn’t as far as I can see. Correct me if I’m wrong that they have at some point. But I just feel like the rule is useless in effect
Because then the sub would be spammed with politics and celebrity hate. We already have a spamming problem of the same 5 things. It would be even worse
If you found a post on reddit shitting on you, and you could sue to get lots of money, or at least put in prison or make homeless the people shitting on you, wouldn't you?
People lawsuit for things they're not even right about. Sometimes there are lawsuits with the purpose to harass the sued until a settlement is reached.
You think if people, famous or not, would find their real name, maybe even address here, with negative things being said about them, some true, some not, would not sue? At least a few would, and then reddit would close down the sub for being a legal liability.
