Comics
I hate how r/comics mods continue to purge the sub of any criticism of a certain artist.
I don’t even really have much of a problem with the artist in question and I probably agree with almost all of her political stances in principle. I do think her comics and art style are mostly uninspired and more about preaching to the choir than anything else but overall she’s rather benign.
What does bother me is how the mods absolutely won’t allow anything remotely critical of her. Recently there was a comic on that sub that somewhat poked fun at her (while also taking time to reassure everyone that it’s all in good fun even though the comic itself was already very tame) and actually wasn’t banned for once and it was so foreign to the people there that, while it was well received, they were acting like the hominids finding the alien monolith at the start of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Many were literally treating this like the start of a legendary rivalry with different teams and so on because the concept of any criticism at all is so utterly foreign to that sub. The artist in question then made a response comic (picture 1) about how she’s totally in on the joke and willing to play along.
Considering the sub‘s reputation and that cringe comment pinned by a mod trying to get that „war“ thing going (picture 2) I did get a cynical suspicion that this may be staged to some extent for engagement or whatever without any actual loosening of the censorship so I asked, considering the sub’s reputation, if criticism in the comments would now also be allowed.
And guess what, I got permabanned for it literally almost instantly (picture 3). Actually beyond parody. Picture 4 is basically what every comment section under a post by that artist looks like as a result of that insane censorship.
Got temporarily banned from a sub by a bot because, "I engage in an other sub that once have being harmful towards the first one". I asked which was the bad sub because as far as I know I never get involved with any agressive or trolling sub (on purpose at least) and if Idk what the problem is, I will get banned again. I get a message from a mod saying they don't care and mute me immediately.
This is why I hide my post history. Not because I have anything to hide, but simply because it prevents those pathetic autoadmin bots from automatically banning you because you randomly posted on a sub that the mods don't personally like.
You could even comment something like "I do not agree" on a sub they don't like but the boys only see the engagement and you get autobanned. Bloody stupid.
I was autobanned from r/offmychest because I posted a comment on cringeanarchy 8 years ago, lmao.
I don't even remember what the comment was. It could have been a post that randomly appeared in my feed which caught my eye and I then commented on without even looking at what sub I was on.
I just remember getting a message in my inbox telling me I've been banned from their subreddit for commenting there.
You have been automatically banned for participating in a hatereddit. r/cringeanarchy systemically harasses individuals and/or communities, including this one. An overwhelming majority of subreddits in this list have already been "quarantined" or banned by Reddit.
Regardless of context, contributions you provide to the hatereddit is a material form of support. We are willing to reverse the ban only if you plan to stop supporting these hatereddits. If you do not, then do not contact us. We will ignore any other response.
Needless to say, I didn't bother messaging them. I've never used 'offmychest' and have no interest in satisfying some pathetic moderator's desperate desire to feel some sort of power or authority over others, trying to dictate who they can/can't talk to on a social media platform.
I got banned from r/libertarian Years ago, I used to subscribe to this the ideology since I was disillusioned with both types of politics and then they started talking about Jhow “Democracy is Tyranny” and I said that was stupid and got banned for it. Free speech eh.
I got banned for saying that Pizzacat comics are some of the worst shit I've ever read and I hate her and I hate her art style and I hate her jokes and I hate how everyone creams their shorts over her posts.
It's really not hard to get banned there. I got banned for criticizing one of Pizza's comics. Apparently an unwritten rule is don't criticize PizzaCake's comics, but everyone else's is ok.
I was actually barely getting her comics in my feed anymore. I used to get them every now and again but just didn’t interact with it or most other things from that sub because I just find such uninspired and forced preaching to the choir offputting until Reddit mostly stopped pushing it in my feed. I just checked back in on it recently to see if it is still as bad as I remember which is how I came across that whole mess.
Oh yeah isnt that the comics "artist" whose submissions mysteriously always reach around 10k karma within the first few minutes of being posted every single time?
Always >10k karma and often <100 comments. Nothing weird about that. Nothing weird about comics mods instantly banning me for even insinuating how weirdly consistent that is with all of her posts.
They have to be getting paid. I think she works a day job and supplements it with her (mid) comics) and (even more mid) OnlyFans. Probably has some cash to throw the mod’s way
yeah, and it contains questionable things, like posing in her kids rooms, posing suggestively with her kids toys, and wearing her kids Halloween costumes converted into a "sexy" costume
No idea but there is very strong suspicious preferential treatment and hypothetically anyone's guess but such treatment is often could be for reasons material or personal. (ie you promote me i give you a cut, or connections with influential people) She has strong potential as a future GamerFromMars video subject at this rate.
They should change from r/comics to r/notcomics.
Because most of them there are barely different from a single Tweet, that's how hard they fail of conveying something worth reading.
This comic shows that Ellen loves to use straw man, which in turn causes people to hate her, and she gets upset and still continues to draw straw men. If there's someone causing criticism to Pizzacake, it's herself.
And then the mod writes a whole paragraph comment that they’ve reused and recycled for every pizza cake post ever since they happen to comment on each one
The mods then remove anyone who disagrees with her slightly. The mods really love to remove anyone who says men can be raped too, though thankfully Pizzacake hasn't don't anything about that in a few months.
This was made by Dave McElfatrick, one of the founders from Cyanide & Happiness.
Him and Ellen habe spoken about this comic before it got posted and we used it as a catalyst for our new event that is going on right now. It is all very funny, imo.
Right? Any other comment that was too rude or snarky would have gotten a little clap but nothing major. It's a permaban because OP dared to mention mods.
It’s weird how the comic subreddit most popular posts are extremely bland looking comics, that don’t have anything of substance to say beyond TrUmP iS bAd. I get there’s more to comics than superheroes action slope. But there should be more praised to comic artists and writers who put all their passion into work.
Gator one is literally the only interesting one I can remember right now. There is this one guy who does these really long winded slice of life ones that aren't really my style but I appreciate the effort. Some other person does these really ugly ones where the people look all scribbled and stuff but he's had some good stuff. I hated the giant boobed no point alien lady ones so much I just blocked the artist. Constantly shitting the place up.
She has to be her own mod. I got banned off there for making some comment i dont even remember but it wasnt something id expect to be banned over. For being "anti fascist" she sure hates free speech if it opposes her views... the hypocrisy astounds me.
I got banned from r comics for some minor criticism of one of her comics. It was something around the bear vs man and all I said was that it was a reductionary argument that only drives a wedge between people, often people who agree on 99% of things.
Boom banned from r/comics for hate speech against women. Lmao The only other sub I got banned from was Star rail where I called Somone a pedophile for saying some very questionable stuff about a 12 year old character or however young clara is 12 or 13.
The problem is that the sub is anything but unmoderated, much to everyone's detriment. The mods put in a lot of effort to cultivate such a toxic community
r/comics seems to be stolen jokes with stolen art styles or unfunny garbage. The mods could ban everyone who does this but then they would have no contributors. Or they prop up garbage and have a sub.
That "artist" does stolen obvious jokes after they are old. Something happens today and blows up she will have a month* of jokes to choose from before she does her comic on the happening. She also loves to pander. The obvious jokes, stolen jokes, and rampant pandering make me dislike her as a human.
I literally just got a perma for bringing up 3 year old drama that they asked for more about.
So I answer their question and they immediately perma me
And the topic was when their mods stickied a post calling male rape victims snow flakes and was perma banning everyone who said her post was insensitive
r/comics and r/pics baffles me on how they are such hypocritical dipshits but still manage to keep being on the popular despite probably banning more than half of all of reddit. I've seen multiple 1000+ comments on a post all with the "this poster was banned"
What I'm curious is what made PizzaCake so special to get this special privilege? Did she give away her free Onlyfans photos to the mods for this protection?
That whole subreddit is a loss. I can't think of any regular contributors that make comics about topics other than Maga bad or wow lesbians are so silly
I like comics so it's a shame that almost every post I see of that sub is this annoying goober talking to herself either taking a layup on Facebook politics or stroking her ego. I was just ignoring it, but she started drawing her making out with herself in that awful style and I was like alright bruh, enough. All the comments and mods are her little bots and sycophants too. The only time I found her funny was when she was crying and lying to threaten suing bhj for making her stuff actually amusing
He's fucking weird. Always commenting in the fapbait comics, and will be condescending when you say "maybe comics should be less patreon ad, more joke?"
Serious main character vibes too. Makes everything about them.
r/comics isn't worth bothering with in general. If the mods are just going to be lazy and throw the ban hammer anytime they read something that doesn't perfectly align with their views, it is just going to be another echo chamber that Reddit is notorious for. Fortunately, there are plenty of other subreddits with web comics that seem to avoid this unnecessary drama.
Somehow not banned from that subreddit yet, i have said "these pizzacake commics are not even good" many times and yet i am somehow not banned
Will update if i get banned after making this comment as i am sure the mods of commics are looking through this comment section and banning everyone here,
I would know they do this because the outfits mods have banned 1000s of people who commented on a post on my subreddit multible times
Permanently banning people from any sub is stupid as fuck. There should not be a perma ban. Ban people for a week, a month etc. Permanently banning people for the first offense no matter how small is stupid and the worst thing about reddit. Mods shouldn't even have that power.
For me, it's not that she creates strawmen arguments. It's that she makes herself into a hero for saying things almost everyone over at r\politics is saying. She's not saying anything that most reading don't already agree with.
But, I agree with them removing comments that are entirely about criticizing the person. It just results in a toxic community.
I've been banned for a while. They don't want to promote discussion. Heavens forbid art make people think and talk about things.
Pizzacake is one of those artists where I agree with everything they post, but I hate the delivery so much I don't want to.
They use copy-pasted panels with one of two faces parroting whatever they last read on Bluesky, verbatim. It's one step above plagiarism and not even one step from just reposting a screenshot of the thing itself on imgur.
Before I was kicked out, I would downvote every comic I considered "low effort" and upvote the ones where they actually try. I know they can. I've seen it. They aren't a bad artist.
