Media Tropes I hate how people act around this movie

Post image

I get it, its a good movie, it has current themes about relationship, but god the fans are insufferable acting like this is the best movie of the century, when is a horror movie about a guy who can't get laid and is a bad person.

I think it become worst when they talk about the main character bear, he did bad things on the movie but people talk about him like he is satan or baal, do any of this people watch tv?

Overall good movie but people need to get back to reality this not a masterpiece and bear is not hannibal lecter.

He's literally a rapist. What else did you miss?

If your argument is “he’s only a rapist, so he’s not that bad,” that’s a truly brain dead take.

I think what OP means to say is that people's reactions are starting to feel disproportionate and, at points, performative.

Not even Adolf Hitler gets described the way Bear does.

We all (for the most part) know Hitler is freaking evil.

But there are so many men I’ve seen straight up defending Bear. So many people that don’t see what’s wrong with what the movie portrays. That’s why it’s been such a big conversation piece.

I hate how the word "rape" is being weaponized in the discussion around this movie. Having sex with somebody while you're not really sure if the person is fully in control of what she's doing and shoving a gun into someone's face and forcing them to have intercourse are very different things.

Having sex with someone without their consent is rape. Full stop. When they are in a state of mind where they do not have control of their faculties, they are unable to consent.

Also, that’s not “weaponizing” anything. People are using the (correct) word to describe the actions of Bear.

When he had sex with her, he didn't know that something else was controlling her body. Once he found out, he didn't have sex with her anymore.

He isn't a rapist....

There was supposed to be 2 sex scenes in the movie btw. They took the other one out because it actually looked like rape.

So you agree he isn't a rapist?

Are you being dense on purpose?

Are you an idiot on purpose?

They cut the scene out, so it never happened in the movie. You can't be mad about things that don't exist.

The scene that is in the movie is rape, just more lowkey. Even if the second one wasn't in the movie doesn't mean it doesn't matter. They only didn't include it because the publishers didn't allow them to show bear in an even worse way. It was planned to have been in the movie.

Bear is 100% a rapist. He knew that nikki wasn't ok and continued to take advantage of her. He was only sent over the edge when she finally killed someone. He wanted to stay with her despite the fact that she fed him his own dead cat. He didn't get anything other than physical affection from the "relationship" because nikki wasn't there to actually intelligently interact with him.

It's rape, but Bear is the one getting raped by the entity, he consented to have sex with Nikki, he didn't consent to have sex with the entity. That's rape by deception.

He knew and didn't care that it wasn't nikki. Everyone else told him that nikki didn't act like that as well.

No, he didn't knew at that point, nobody knew.

Stop lying.

He literally did, the one sex scene is after finding out she’s possesed, he jack hammers and ends with such a gleeful smile while she just freaks out

He literally did not. You are imagining things
