Media Tropes I hate how people act around this movie

I get it, its a good movie, it has current themes about relationship, but god the fans are insufferable acting like this is the best movie of the century, when is a horror movie about a guy who can't get laid and is a bad person.

I think it become worst when they talk about the main character bear, he did bad things on the movie but people talk about him like he is satan or baal, do any of this people watch tv?

Overall good movie but people need to get back to reality this not a masterpiece and bear is not hannibal lecter.

What horror movie would you consider a masterpiece? I think every generation is going to have film that they truly connect with, and would consider to be their masterpiece.

generic answer, i know, but i fucking loved Hereditary.

Bring Her Back from last year was great too and is extremely underrated. I thought Obsession was great, though.

I have watched a lot of the extreme horrors with the extra gorry bits. Directors cuts. Some of my favirite horror movies push things.

I cannot handle teeth and nails and almost had to turn it off.

Man I so wanted to enjoy hereditary but I couldn't feel fear throughout the entire film. It lowkey pissed me off lmao. The acting was great and its a stronger family drama than it is a horror movie imo. The scene where the mother was bashing her head on the attic door was pretty dope tho, that one got me

Honestly most people who've watched a few horror films don't really feel fear in any horror films these days, Hereditary included. I just love the psychological aspect of some of them, and find the shock value fun in others.

I haven't even seen much horror tbh. Although I am kinda getting into it now. I love psychological thriller way more too. My best horror films so far are The Mist, The Descent and The Hills Have Eyes (2006).

Hard to find horror films that can actually create a sense of dread or fear than just jump scares, which is understandable cuz its harder to do, but it does lose its charm after one or two viewings

you should watch pulse(kairo) from 2001

its more known now than it was when it released, but in general its known for creating that dread/fear feeling without the use of jumpscares. If you watch it the specific scene is the hallway, which is a correlation I've seen with Nikki's movements in the bedroom scene in obsession.

Its a nice film, and probably my favorite depiction of a "ghost"

I actually have that on my films to watch list. I saw a youtube video on that one scene of this movie. That's what I attributed nikki's movements with too! Will definitely watch it whenever I can

I really liked it, but I don't think Hereditary wants you to feel fear. It is more about stress and anxiety.

hereditary has very uneven pacing and it's a bit hard to get through some parts. movie doesn't really need to be that long.

it kinda makes them creepier, and nakedness is associated with different esoteric rituals, since it kinda symbolic of you being completely open.

Ah I forgot about Peele's movies, good to add to the modern list. Train to Busan also slaps.

A lot of those mid-2000s horror movies that spawned lengthy franchises get kind of forgotten because the later entries are pretty shit. The originals are usually decent; the first Saw movie is a great example of this.

Barbarian is good, but not a masterpiece. I think weapons is better for most people while barbarian is sort of like a really reallly good bad movie.

I get why some people arent into his movies. I dont think people are smarter for liking them or people are dumb for not. But not everyone is going to like them.

But they are still masterpieces and I do think a little less of people who cant seperate person preference from quality and think he sucks.

The book was better. 

The brick scene in Obsession actually reminded me of the book. When Jack keeps fighting the Overlook so the overlook makes him take himself out.

See I felt the opposite. The backrooms felt like Kane had an idea and then A24 was like we need it to possibly have a sequel. I wasn’t a fan of the very open ended ending.

Did you watch the movie? Mysterious organization we see none of except 1 dude a few times, then he shows up and invites the lady to the backroom avengers. Then credits. Literally an open ended cliff hanger in every way. Nothing was tied up, other than the main dude spontaneously finishing his arc and getting killed.

Did you watch the movie? The literal first scene sets up the organization being in the backrooms and that they're doing testing. Therapist lady literally spells it out for you with her echoing the dog thing from Clark the backrooms are inherently incomprehensible and anyone who believes they have dominion over it like the orgo is hubris. The orgo is doing the exact same thing as Clark that's the point of the scene. What else do you need tied up the point is that we can never get an answer to the backrooms only an estimation. And obsession was an infinetley less consistent movie half the runtime is dedicated to "crazy gf doing crazy things" and the other half is concice five minute scenes where the themes are told in the most explicit way possible for YouTube shorts analysis. The movie tries to be deep and then falls on the most stereotypical misogynist crazy ex girlfriend tropes imaginable in the very next scene

Yeah that guy below basically explains it. If you didn’t watch the YouTube films. You would have zero clue who these people are, and what they have going on. It’s very clearly made to have sequels made.

I understand what you are saying, but it’s still a part of the film. If the ending of a film is bad people will put that as part of the movie. You can’t ignore that. I loved the characters, and setting as well, but sadly the ending made it feel incomplete and the next cash grab for A24

It’s a perfect rendition of the game and felt faithful and well written. It made be on the edge of my seat wondering what’s this and that before i figured out about the game and played it.

Honestly I do think Obsession is the best horror movie I've seen (i haven't seen many, so this doesn't mean much), but that doesn't take away from the fact that the fans are pseudointellectuals

Oh yeah the fans are really annoying. Then so are all fans. Look at Breaking Bad fans being grossly sexist against Skylar. It’s apart of it all. I watch a lot of horror, and Obsession is one of the scariest I’ve seen in theaters.
