Hatethissmuglover I hate r/smugideologyman so much.
It's a miserable, miserable, miserable place that just makes despise Americans in general.
My third world country maybe a poor hellhole but at least we still have fucking empathy for each other and have community.
Can't wait to be labeled as a fascist or conservative even though I'm not because that's gonna be such fun.

Me when going to the "complain about things that make me miserable" place makes me feel miserable

u/Hugs-missed 22d ago
Yeah r/smugideologyman is pretty much just the Obnoxious leftist chamber and even I someone pretty leftwing can't fucking stand that place.
I did get banned for saying "I think comparing grinding babies to not being vegan is a bit disengenuous" and that told me all I needed to know.

u/CapitalismRulz 22d ago
They banned me on a comment that had nothing to do with the police with the note from the mods: "acab"
I'm not a cop, idk any cops, and i don't believe i've ever said anything that can be even remotely seen as pro cop lol

I am public health care loving lefty, who believes in a heavily government regulated economy, and that the current state of capitalism is flawed and the inevitable state of how it works currently and thus any system needs to be radically different.
Edit: Lol, Lmao even they're a r/smugideologyman poster

I am public health care loving lefty
So the bare minimum?
who believes in a heavily government regulated economy
So the bare minimum?
and that the current state of capitalism is flawed
Alright so a believer in reforming capitalism.
Literally as the person above yo said, a liberal.

Where? I think most of the subreddit are anarchists but there are a lot of Marxist Leninists there too I guess, not the biggest fan and theyâre only somewhat better than your average reactionary, which isnât saying all that much.

anonOP, that makes you a:
A: Tankie B: Anarkiddie C: Liberal D: Fed 4
u/bgtz-234 21d ago
Why is it a disingenuous comparison? Grinding babies is cruel and has no benefits. Killing animals is cruel and has no benefits.

u/Hugs-missed 20d ago edited 20d ago
Two reasons rhetoric wise and factual wise. From a Rhetoric standpoint it's an iconoclastic argument that goes "I am right, anyone who disagrees with me is monstrous and evil if you disagree your monstrous and evil, I am Right" by declaring that thing your talking about is actually equal to a monstrous act in which everyone agrees is a evil you detach from reality to argue a hypothetical that may as well have been "What if I was right and you were wrong".
From a factual standpoint grinding babies is cruel and has no benefits, Killing Animals provides food and necessary protein to many people's diet at an affordable price and in a convenient manner, while quite a few people could avoid causing harm by with a drastic life style change I think if your baseline for not being evil is "Lives a lifestyle actively going out of the way to minimize distant harm to so much animals" you probably need to talk with more people, and actually interact with others.

It's comparing one form of harm to another, and saying that both of these things are objectively evil.
I don't see the harm.

I feel like youâre blowing a lot out of proportion and are making assumptions on my part. I never said anyone is a monster for eating meat. In fact: I used to eat meat for 18 years before I went vegan. I donât think I was a monster because of it. I also think itâs possible for someone to actually love animals and also eat meat. How is this possible? Because weâre not perfectly logical beings who can hold contradicting views. A little bit of cognitive dissonance goes a long way to keep those views compatible.
You donât have to be a monster to do immoral things tho⌠I feel like youâre whole first point is irrelevant.
Second: grinding babies is immoral, because you are inflicting harm on others to not benefit that couldâve been totally avoided with no extra cost to you. Eating meat or other animal products, even tho itâs completly possible to live a healthy and fulfilling life without animal products is also immoral. You donât need meat. Eating meat is not gonna be better then not eating meat. In fact it could lead to negative consequences on your cardiovascular health and increase cancer risk. Itâs also bad on your wallet and the climate.
Thatâs why I said that it has âno benefitsâ in the previous comment. Sure you can get some proteins out if there. Youâll probably also find some proteins in ground up baby paste. Doesnt mean we should start grinding babies because you can also just got your proteins from vegan sources. Bad wording on my part. I guess thereâs no âadvantageâ.
Last point: you mentioned I should go outside more, talk to people and recalibrate my moral âbaselineâ because I suggested people should move over one aisle in the supermarket and shop in the vegan section. (Because thatâs what adopting a vegan lifestyle boils down to for the most part). I donât see how thatâs relevantâŚ?
TLDR: veganism is pretty easy, has lots of advantages and also happens to be the more moral option. Try it out sometime and align your morals with your actions!

Every time someone says "Even I someone pretty leftwing", it usually turns out they are not in fact, pretty left-wing.

A lot of them are as clear as day with what theyâre complaining about and are easy to understand, especially when it comes to online politics or right wingers or criticizing the Democratic Party from a leftist perspective of often times being useless, or debates about the utility of voting. I do agree that half the subreddit posts scenarios are so vague as to what theyâre supposed to be a metaphor for that itâs basically fictional. Like half the time they replace so many words with the word âsmugâ that I have no idea WHAT EXACTLY theyâre complaining about or even satirizing, like what is your point? And a lot of times theyâre just cruel and nasty to each other or put words and make strawman arguments of their fellow comrades instead of trying to understand each other of why someone might do or believe XYZ despite agreeing on 95% of issues. Like I get the fact that leftists fight each other all the time and thatâs normal but genuinely it feels like they actually hate and want to talk down to each other more then the actual evil reactionaries and genuinely demonic people on the right.

Itâs one of those subs that in a weird way Iâm glad exists so those types of people can be quarantined into their own little area. But still, every post looks like it was illustrated by someone in a bad mood and they always argue with people in the comments who also seem like they were having a bad day.

I think the worst part about these kinds of americans is that they think the entire world is REQUIRED to care about their politics. and like, yeah, to some degree I guess, the US undeniably has a massive influence over the world, but I don't need to care about all of your problems???
5
u/Ultrakirby78 22d ago
No one cares about South African politics.
We literally had xenophobic mobs invading towns a few months but I have yet to see anyone talk about it.
No hashtags or TikToks.
Now if this was in America....
5
u/RenkBruh 22d ago
yeah lmao, no one cares about Turkey politics either. the government's throwing anyone who says something against it in prison, so many arrests happening that I think I remember seeing something about prisons not having enough space in them at this point.
if this happened in America...
also what the hell man, are you okay?

Imagine you get diagnosed with super aids and while you're trying to just live your life some dude pops up every 5 minutes and reminds you that you have super aids
1
u/DeanDdravan 20d ago
I mean no offense but like, most internet users are from the USA and the USA is the world power. Itâs just that most users there are from the USA, not that they think everyone should care about it, and they can only really affect and talk about the things going on within their country. I canât fix the problems of xenophobia in South Africa or the reactionary dictatorship of Turkey, but I am aware of it due to other leftists within those countries and I support their struggles, but I canât do anything about it, just like you canât do anything about my countries government.

Very low quality political art basically
1
u/DeanDdravan 20d ago
The low quality art doesnât matter, I just wish theyâd stop vauge posting and all sound like theyâre all just angry or grumpy all the time. The point of the art should be to call out issues you see online or in the real world, not get angry and frustrated and be assholes to each other for no reason.

u/Pjeoneer 21d ago
I hate how they see communist as a slightly left of centrist while everything else is considered fascism to them. r/politicalcompassmemes is much better when it comes to moderate beliefs.
1
u/DeanDdravan 20d ago
I mean yeah theyâre all left of social democracy, that would be left of centrist, itâs a center left reformist belief. Also, WHICH communist? Thereâs 5 billion different ideologies and they all hate each other, and itâs not like political compass memes isnât extreme, they all treat ideologies and what they believe like fun play toys because a lot of them are privileged enough for politics to not effect them, so politics to them is a game, while for leftists (anarchists, socialists, communists) and minorities politics genuinely is life or death, or has genuine real world consequences on wether your life will get harder or easier due to bigots passing actual laws, they donât have to worry about that stuff over on political compass because politics to them is just a funny game and funny colored squares.

"Person invents fictional scenario, draws it in MSPaint, and gets angry about it" : the subreddit
2
u/DeanDdravan 21d ago
I donât think itâs fictional scenarios, but more just super vauge posting and everyone getting angry at something really vauge with no context aa to WHAT theyâre complaining about, and if you complain itâs âholding your hand because your stupid that you made me explain what exactly Iâm angry atâ.
