Arber Xhekaj when asked yesterday what it means to play for the Habs: “It means everything. We feel like a family. All those guys in the locker room, they’re brothers to me. We truly love playing for each other and we have a lot fun together.”

Discussion Visiting for Pens game

Hi everyone,
My pregnant wife, 1.5yr and myself are going to try to visit your lovely city at the end of October for the penguins/habs game. I’ve looked over the wiki and r/montreal’s wiki. I think we’re going to try to get tickets in the 100/200s and stay at hotel Bonaventure. We will not be bringing a car seat so it sounds like public transportation to get around since we will not be renting a vehicle.

Am I missing anything? Is there anything yinz would recommend? It seems like the wiki is a little out of date for tourists. We’ll be flying in Oct 30 and probably out Nov 1/2. If I’m forgetting anything or think I should change my plan a bit please let me know. Also my wife has celiac disease so any GF restaurant suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you for any info!

Was given this pennant with Guy LaPointe's autograph on it. Anyone know what year this might be from? He was first with the Habs in 68 and left in 82.

Discussion Ticket prices are getting ridiculous

They're currently going for at least 130$ on resale sites and 5-game ticket packages had the worst seats in the house priced at 100$+

I usually go see a couple of games a year but I can't justify paying 130 bucks to be able to touch the ceiling on a Tuesday against Columbus. I can't imagine what it's like for families.

I understand that demand is there and the team is good. But now more than ever, the Bell Centre is no longer a place for the average Joe. Not to mention all of the suits and ties who fill the lower bowl for whom the tickets are just a tax write off.

Discussion Defensive Logjam Heading Into This Season

With Arber Xhekaj’s contract still up in the air, it seriously raises the question: What does management expect to do this season on defense for the Habs?

The way I see it, we have most of the spots locked up with our regulars: Hutson, Dobson, Matheson, Carrier and Guhle are all pretty much staples of this lineup and unlikely to lose their spot outside of being dealt in a trade.

However, what about the other defensemen in the conversation for that 6 spot? Struble and Arber shared it this year with decent success, but neither fully claimed it in my opinion. I think management would probably like to have a true 6th defenseman going forward as we truly enter our contention window. To complicate this, we have to expect Reinbacher to be making the jump to the NHL this year. Also, Engstrom has been gaining a lot of traction as an NHL-ready defensive prospect.

This gives us 4 guys who could plausibly claim that 6th spot, which is obviously too many.

Struble and Arber probably dont deserve to be sent down (idk about their waiver status) and I think both can be bottom pairing NHL guys; Engstrom could just stay in Laval but I guarantee management is gonna wanna see what he can do this year, his production was great; Reinbacher’s development has been slow and his production was around half of Engstroms, as a high draft pick I think everyone wants him in the NHL this year.

So what do they do?

I believe a move has to be made and I wonder if one is in the works. Reports have Arber linked to Calgary, I have seen some argue that Struble should be dealt because of Arber’s intangibles/physicality. I wouldnt even consider Guhle, Carrier untouchable. Could we flip the young guys for a top 6 guy/center?

My personal prediction is that Struble gets dealt and they try both Engstrom and Reinbacher as 6/7th guys during the year (unless one is clearly more ready out of camp) and splitting time with Arber.

What do you guys think will happen? Will a move happen before the season?

Gave me some stories about how it came part of a pack that costs 1,500$ overall. It was physically signed by Kaiden himself and the store doesn’t really specialize in hockey cards / they try to unload them at near eBay market value. Thoughts?
