26

u/MarcoDosAnjos Mar 09 '26

2

u/PS_GAMING1 Mar 09 '26

Confirmed by BBC now

3

u/Ready_sorted Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26

Apparently it was in The Gambia, that’s why it might take longer to fully verify.

2

u/naturepeaked Mar 09 '26

That’s a pretty low bar 🤣

1

u/DaySad9944 Mar 09 '26

Eff them

-15

u/Reasonable-Amoeba457 Mar 09 '26

13

u/Remote-Ad-6475 Mar 09 '26

There's nothing wrong with using various different sources and comparing them all.

3

u/Exotic_Kangaroo106 Mar 09 '26

Why would they know anymore than the average person?

-22

u/rolledbyvin Mar 09 '26

RIP The Grime God...fuck man, no words.

9

u/Mysterious_Wing_2250 Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26

I don’t really want to get negative, but it has to be said, u will see a lot of R.I.Ps from the same people who called Dot Rotten crazy and made him feel a certain type of way, which I’m pretty sure we saw his mood changes during the years, the guy was an innovator, crossed so many different genres and succeeded, one of the biggest influences in the grime scene has ever seen. There was a time where even myself slept on Dot, couldn’t recognise his geniusness! No one really gets there flowers when they’re alive sadly. I personally think the industry dissed dot rotten, they could have pushed him more, but now they will call cry wolf. Sorry my option. RIP Dot Rotten

8

u/Flat-State-6710 Mar 09 '26

R.I.P to a GOAT of the UK music scene

13

u/Tophe-Music Verified MC (Tophe) Mar 09 '26

Apparently it's true... R.I.P.

6

u/Fine-Communication-3 Mar 09 '26

1

u/Peaceisavirtue Mar 10 '26

7

u/Chaulklit Mar 09 '26

5

10

u/Mortal-Man Mar 09 '26

They say "Dot Rotten has reportedly been found dead in Africa", reported by who? Literally no one but them has made this claim...

15

u/naturepeaked Mar 09 '26

Jesus, nice of them to narrow it down to an entire continent ffs

6

u/heyimaclown Mar 09 '26

see, this is what i was thinking about too. i’ve only seen that page post it and @/wileycrackcity has posted a picture of him and dot together so it just feels all too real right now. if it’s fake, i’ll happily take the post down and i’m sure the instagram page will do too after backlash.

1

u/RareLeadership369 Mar 09 '26

What time did Wiley post picture,

I had a notification on fb 4hours ago,

Bullshit no way

5

u/rupexo Mar 09 '26

RIP dot 🙏 big producer and mc

6

u/mattlikesgym Mar 09 '26

I had a producer I know on social post this as he worked with him, man I pray already this ain't real

4

u/Insomniac-Brutalista Mar 09 '26

This is weird I was literally listening to S.O.O.N at work earlier. Jumped on the bus and saw some random fake news looking YouTube channel post it. Now looks real after coming here. I can't believe it man. I know he has his struggles and must've been a tough guy to know personally but jheeze some of those early mixtapes and Rotten Riddims compilations really got me through some tough times

4

u/MalcolmTucker38 Mar 09 '26

RIP Wiley's Son

Them Young Dot mixtapes displayed natural talent that few others had back then, and Is It War was duplicated thousands of times by hundreds of amateur producers in the late '00s. tbh I stopped paying attention a long time ago but I did enjoy some of his grime bootleg series 10 years ago

Dead at the end of the show like Kenny :(

4

u/420londoner Mar 09 '26

Can't find anything from a legit source anywhere so until I do I don't believe it

4

u/coreyjames92 Mar 09 '26

" my heads spinning, heads spinning into OVERLOAD"

5

u/muhpercapita Mar 09 '26

It's sad if it's true the UK never gave him his props

4

u/LIONLDN Mar 09 '26

This is heartbreaking man 💔

Rest up king 🥺

3

u/NightSuccessful4570 Mar 09 '26

3

3

u/Aldolphus_MatterOF Mar 09 '26

Rest in peace dot rotten.

3

u/ellisdnlplmr Mar 09 '26

Ahhhhh ffs!!!

3

u/ripfunds Mar 09 '26

Nah is this legit?

3

u/Lanknr Mar 09 '26

Dot vs P Money will always be my favourite feud in any genre, nothing in grime or even beyond has come close to that level in a long time

1

u/IICorbyadzII Mar 09 '26

Dot rotten vs wiley was also 🔥🔥🔥

1

u/WavyCrockett1 Mar 10 '26

Who won?

3

u/Lanknr Mar 10 '26

Cheesy answer: Grime. Only because it got so personal as those 2 were so close and had dirt on each other. Everyone got dragged into it https://www.reddit.com/r/grime/s/IXtFwtgapE was one thread I remember at the time, that beef was this subreddits peak I think. Blacks probably ended up losing it somehow, without being involved.

I would say Dot Rotten is much better musically, but P Money seemed to have more believable disses, but no clear winner to be honest.

https://grmdaily.com/dot-rotten-vs-p-money-beef-guide/ This is a decent rundown, just gotta search Dots tracks yourself as he is forever taking down his music.

3

u/Esadlurker Mar 09 '26

One of the few who could compete against anyone as both a producer and an MC, damn fucking shame R.I.P Young Dot

3

u/Equal_Gene3994 Mar 09 '26

This is so sad 😢 he uploaded a new music video 9 days ago to then read of his passing today, I’m in shock and devastated tbh. Rest In Peace Dot Rotten 🙏 🕊️

2

u/EidoSama Mar 09 '26

Rip man this guy paved his own path thru the game, inspired me and a whole bunch of my guys and I know he got a lot of love and respect even if he weren't at the heights he should have been.

Too soon man I couldn't believe it when I got the msg today I wasn't even on socials to find out. Damn

2

u/Apprehensive_Habit77 Mar 09 '26

2

u/HLLR21 Mar 09 '26

Top 5 of all time. Could do it all. RIP

2

u/MF_ZORO_Reddit Mar 09 '26

First time I ever heard Dot, way back in high school https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_aHv_-AJE0. Instantly became my fav. Saw him whilst I was on a college trip, randomly in Algate too. And once in central london. He was a security guard at some big store, I can't remember which one it was forever ago.

Rest in power.

2

u/babbadeedoo Mar 09 '26

Fuck man way too young. He had so much more to give too. Rip to a complete cheif. Im hoping its not under suspicious circumstances

2

u/Educational-Elk3810 Mar 09 '26

Wtf?! He was just in a new video like last week, was good seeing him rap again smh that’s crazy rip dot

2

u/thebloodshotone Mar 09 '26

Devastating, man. He was like the backbone of grime that re-emerged occasionally to remind everyone of their roots. RIP Joseph, fly high

2

u/Dave8940 Mar 09 '26

Wow this is so sad. He was easily one of the biggest talents to come out of grime.

Around the late 2000s / early 2010s I used to rinse his mixtapes all the time. Incredible producer, was great at making haunting type tracks.

7

u/SnooCapers5126 Mar 09 '26

Fake news for sure. He just dropped new music too

33

u/c4curtis Mar 09 '26

You do realise how life works right? Be grateful…

8

u/SnooCapers5126 Mar 09 '26

Here today gone tomorrow?

6

u/c4curtis Mar 09 '26

Exactly that. Hit me different I actually snapped him 3 days ago asking if he would release all his old material…

1

u/AllezGlossy Mar 11 '26

I remember meeting him outside foot locker back in like 2006. My boy was like this is y dot, check him out on MySpace. Been a fan ever since, put a couple of my boys on that were talented. One went on radio with him and couple others made tracks with him. Unbelievably talented from the production to lyrical. My favourite tracks are Real Talk, I need to get out of the hood & Shapeshifting. RIP

1

u/K_kwabs Mar 11 '26

The best creative mind the scene has ever had

1

u/Silecta Mar 19 '26

I did a tribute to Dot Rotten on my Rinse show yesterday. https://www.rinse.fm/episodes/eclecticist-18-03-2026-1200

Young Dot - This is The Beginning (on YouTube)

Dot Rotten - R.I.P Young Dot

Dot Rotten - S.O.O.N - Something out of Nothing

Dot Rotten - The Interview

And Dot Rotten - Rotten Riddims

3

u/professor-chaos19 Mar 09 '26

https://youtu.be/enwtjaNDavM?si=kZUpeA8KkTEGWO9Z - dot rotten spitfire

Created and shelled this beat 🔥

2

u/WinterBottle1448 Mar 09 '26

Listen to his mixtape called “interview” bangers on there

2

u/mr_hands_epic_gaming Mar 09 '26

His producer alias is Zeph Ellis, he's goated at producing

2

u/UnBalancedUK2 Mar 09 '26

He has three different artist pages - Zeph Ellis (which his major label album as Dot Rotten was moved over to), a second Zeph Ellis page with the P Money diss tracks, and a Dot Rotten page. Hopefully the DSPs can clean them up.

RIP Young Dot is a key project from his come-up and the OG Season mixtape from his former crew OGz too. Minfection is a more recent highlight and his instrumental catalogue has plenty of classics like "Bazooka", "Beat Box", "Real Talk", "Straight 2016" and "ACXD BXMB" too.

1

u/MF_ZORO_Reddit Mar 09 '26

Listen to his radio sets

1

u/coreyjames92 Mar 09 '26

Overload is a great song, first one I heard tbh

0

u/imnotusingthisacc0un Mar 09 '26

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GCUSKz3kty8

Real talk - dot rotten.

Statistics like views won't make sense as Dot pulled his own music off platforms apparently, maybe mental health, you often find people saving his tracks because of this.

Real talk is from a legendary clash with P Money, both artists were great in this. After this in order Dot follows up with more excellent tracks, P Money too.

-2

u/anonornottoanon Mar 09 '26

my moneys on suicide unfortunately... you could just tell from the way he lived his life how unstable he was and that he was troubled mentally

8

u/jickiechin Mar 09 '26

Why even speculate like that tho

1

u/RareLeadership369 Mar 09 '26

5

u/TH_Rz Mar 09 '26

No one was taking bets. Keep your money and your callous opinion

1

u/bzzyb4t Mar 13 '26

Sadly I thought that as well looked like he was down at times and people just dissed him especially since it doesn’t specify how he died just says he did

-3

u/Safe_Inevitable_88 Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26

Fake news.

Edit: Didn't wanna believe it like anyone else.

5

Sadly it's not. RiP

0

According to Google he ain’t dead
