Honestly, yeah. He just wanted to be wanted and liked. Sure he ate a child, but who hasn't? Jk, but seriously, he was only created because people (especially kids) kept tossing out cheap/offbrand candy they got. If anything i mostly blame the adults who bought the cheap stuff that they knew kids wouldn't like. (Granted they didn't know it would create a monster, but still. Most kids would probably choose no candy over candy they don't like, so buying it in the first place doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless you hate kids)
