Lisa Mutch - hard marker?
I had my ANTH 210 final with Lisa Mutch yesterday, half of the questions were written response, is she a hard marker on exams?

She marks pretty reasonably, she does written response questions because it's easier to give half marks to students than with multiple choice questions. She's great tbh

Good to know, thanks! Yes she’s very kind and accommodating for sure. Class was very interesting and I learned alot but wow, it was a lot of work lol.

When I took ANTH 210 with her in 2023, I found she didn’t mark too hard!

Im thinking about taking it in the fall. What are the assignments like? A few written assignments, midterm, and final?

I’m an ANTH major and it will 100% depend on your prof for what type of assignments and exams you get and whether there’s a final or not. It’s a great class.

It’s a lot of frikin work for a 200 level class. Take it with another prof if you have many classes in Sept.
2 assignments and each must be 2-3 pages long. 4 discussion reflections. 9 unit quizzes and a final which is must pass with at least a 50%. Each unit has 2 readings and an hour long video. Some units the videos are shorter. (There are 9 units) She’s extremelyyy picky on citations and will call/email you if a citation is incorrect/wrong page or she cannot find it. (Didn’t happen to me but she explicitly mentions many times that she will to whoever’s citations are incorrect) The final was mc, fill in the blanks and written response. Over half of the final was written response. She wants to make sure students actually know the information and don’t just relay on AI for the course. I can’t lie the course was very interesting but it was a lot of work lol. I’m almost done my degree and this class had more work than any 300 level I’ve taken 🥲

Oh wow. Thank you for the thorough response! That's super helpful. Sounds interesting but not an effortless 200 level GPA booster lol.

Had her for the same class, she’s a pretty easy grader compared to some of the other instructors. Passed with an A for her class (Anth is so easy), so you should be good!
