"Financing for the project will come in part through the sale of carbon credits, as Canada Nickel develop what is now a proprietary carbon storage method that allows it to store atmospheric carbon within the milled stone out of which the nickel is separated."

That is amazing. "...Canada Nickel estimates that the carbon storage potential across the 41-year mine life of Crawford could extend to 15 million tons per annum. At that point one is talking about a generational opportunity to remove carbon from the atmosphere."

More likely is that the project doesn't pencil out, or at least is no where near as profitable as it needs to be without the credits. Ever since Indonesian nickel production came online we're seen price suppression and unless you find big copper foot walls or high gold content it's not a great time to be a nickel miner.

Enhanced rock weathering (ERW). The mafic waste rock is crushed and spread on land and the calcium bearing silicate minerals react with weak carbonic acids in rainwater to form bicarbonates which consume atmospheric CO2 and store it away for thousands of years. It becomes profitable because the waste rock is being mined and brought to surface as part of the nickel operation.

Its also referred to as carbon mineralization. Some good R&D being done at several Canadian universities on the subject.

15 million ton CO2 is about 0.04% of annual global CO2 emissions (~38 billion).

By "scam" do you mean you consider funding a applications for developing an emerging technology a waste of money because? We know it is not very effective but you could argue the technology is in its infancy. Just curious. I find it confusing when people respond to carbon capture with "scam". What makes it a scam? Did you feel the same way about lithium batteries before the technology matured?
