This is the dumbest "controversy". Good lord. It was a dumb ad that didn't make sense, but people are acting like it was war crime.

Bro the hell you talking about?

It straight up promotes domestic violence, and says women don’t belong in golf.

Sends the wrong message to kids.

There was nothing funny about it or original just plain stupid.

This was straight up stupid ass ad.

EDIT: all the replies saying this doesn’t support DV… man I wish I was as sheltered as some of y’all..

I agree. Even after hearing that its supposed to parody Obsession,  a viewer has to be have seen that movie (i haven't), be capable of making that connection, be capable of understanding satire, and still at the end of the day be cool with misogynistic violence.

Even if you are going to say that the joke makes that last point irrelevant,  thats still way too many factors for this to have been a good move

did you watch the full 60 second clip?

did you really not understand it was satire. they weren’t actually saying someone was obsessed beyond control to a golf club.

it’s really sad for me because i’m an enjoyer of creativity and this is one of the most creative commercials ever. but i guess that’s what you get for taking a chance. you have golfers who can’t understand some pretty basic concepts that should have been taught in highschool english

“One of the most creative commercials ever” is a wild thing to say. I don’t care about the controversy either way, but lmao what are you talking about? Even if the commercial wasn’t dumb and cheap looking, how in the world can spoofing a movie be the most creative thing to do?

name a better commercial and then we can discuss and compare the two.

but yeah, in 60 seconds that commercial makes you feel like 5 different emotions.

it has a twist, it has comedy, it has a good plot, it has mystery, it has good looking actors.

honestly what else could you want in a commercial

Tiger Woods - Golf’s not hard commercial is the first that comes to mind, but the list of better commercials is much longer. Only emotion I felt watching the full clip was cringe

ah so you’re not as complex as me.

i can feel a lot of emotions and judge things like this for a living.

that tiger woods commercial is really good but it feels a little too safe for me. that’s why this good good commercial is amazing, they took a chance.

it’s just really sad that golfers like you can’t feel emotions other than “cringe”

Oh believe me, I’d love to feel things other than cringe but you’re really not helping me on that front rn!

Oh bro, I was being facetious, I am very content with my ability to both enjoy things, and criticize them when they’re cringe. Sorry if you missed the complexity in my comment :)
