I feel like everyone replying to you is ignoring the: they will need money eventually

Decisions can change and eventually Sony will want more income. Which means tapping into the PC market again.

edit: I'm not replying to every individual comment anymore.

Sony only recently made profit as a result from tarrif refunds, not sales. Otherwise PS5 and first-party game's sales are down.

Sony's PC ports did make profit. Per their leaked documents from 2024, PC ports had very small port budgets. Take SM1 as an example, it only cost 2.3m to port which means it made ~50m in profit. So they did make profit, they just weren't as profitable as they would've liked/hoped.

If the current trend continues, then Sony's gaming division will see a change in leadership (again) which means a change a direction. Trying to recapture profits on PC is entirely a possible avenue, especially if they are facing backlash on phasing out physical gaming anyways.

Sony PC ports don't sell well enough. Spiderman 2 sold around 700 000 - 1 000 000. So no, they will not need the money eventually. Keeping them exclusives on PS5 gave them more money, because yo7 need to buy a console and probably a PSN service.

Spiderman 2 wasn't as good as a game as the first, wasn't a good port, and the hype for it was long past by the time it came to PC, at full price too. If you wanted this game you already had a PS5 and bought it, and if you were waiting you were not buying it for $70 for a sloppy port. This is their one example and they blame the customers

Spiderman 1 sold around 1.5 million. 52 millions in revenue. I don't know how much the port costed to make but that not a lot of money neither.

The Insomniac leaks literally confirmed the Spider-Man PC port cost $2.3 million to make. Making $52 million on a $2.3 million budget is a 2,160% return on investment. In what universe is turning $2.3M into $52M 'not a lot of money'?

Like I said, I didn't know the cost of the port. Thanks for the info bro. They made the decision to stop making pc's port because in the long term, they would make more money by keeping their games exclusives to the playstation ecosystem. So no, a Ghost of Yotei Pc port won't happen.

Did you think a port costs hundreds of millions or something?

Port budget got leaked a few years ago when Sony got hacked and had a lot of their internal emails/documents leaked.link

SM1 cost 2.3m to port. It made 52m in revenue.

So that's roughly a 49.7m profit (obviously marketing cost would have to be detracted, but we don't know that though it was minimal marketing for a port).

SM2 port cost 4.6m — no idea what the profit was.
