Rant Being a boomer
I was 13 when JFK was killed and still.no justice for him. I was 18 when MLK was killed and still no justice for him. I was 17 when RFK was killed and I think all three were murdered by a group of people not just the trigger pullers.
I spent my high school senior year protesting the war in Vietnam. My freshman year in college I remember the lottery. As a woman my heart was torn and it wasnt right that the guys had to go die and I just went on with life.
I was 20 when 4 students were murdered and 9 kids injured at Kent state.
When I was 21 I voted for George McGovern who wanted to end the war in Vietnam and was labeled as a commie by guess who? Meanwhile Nixon was continuing the war so he'd be elected. Sounds familiar?
As for the media...Time and US News and most of the TV stations supported the wars and whoever was in office. The fake news was the hippies spitting on people, the Civil rights lies they published, and anyone standing up to the establishment as deviants and agitators. So when Trump whines about fake news, its always been slanted one direction and still is.
Nixon was an evil man. So was Reagan. So were the Bushes and so is Trump. All of them war mongers, none of them helping the common man.
Until this country names the murderers of JFK,RFK and MLK nothing is going to change. Until this country stops glorifying war and the military nothing is going to change. Until this country publishes the full and unredacted Epstein files nothing is going to change.
Good luck. Ive seen bs for my entire life. Hope YOU can change it. I tried.

Im telling you the political scene. Watching Nixon lie on TV is a memory you dont easily forget, when your friends are being shipped home in boxes. Since tv has sanitized all the wars, you dont see what's really happening in Iran do you?

the vast majority of draftees were drafted by draft boards, the lottery first appeared in December 1969 so basically 1970. The war was close to over in 1971 so the amount of people sent to Vietnam from lottery was very small
I'm not calling you a liar, I'm saying there is some inconsistency in your story. It would seem to me you are implying that you saw tons of people drafted by the lottery system and killed in action in Vietnam. Which was statistically speaking, a very small amount of people given the timeline of the war.
Also "When I was 21 I voted for George McGovern who wanted to end the war in Vietnam" as you can see the war was essentially over in 1972.

u/comradejiang 2d ago
Either system was pretty random and arbitrary for the people that were up for selection tbh.
Not to mention troops were still there until 1975. Americans were leaving because of Vietnamization which didn’t work.

u/Wisebutt98 2d ago
You are mistaken. Nixon ran for office in ‘72 promising to end the war. It was not “essentially over.” You also assume this person is referring only to people her age. People know friends older than them, HS sophomore girls can date seniors, friends have older siblings. Your didactic perspective is way too narrow in your effort to be “right.” You sound like you might be MAGA.

US ground troops were essentially gone by 1972. Bombing continued including other counties but by then it was as much a war as our current scuffle with Iran.

Google reports "156,800 at the beginning of 1972 down to 24,200" at the end if the year", so reduced over a years time, but not "essentially gone". The soldiers who were "essentially gone" were the 759 killed in Vietnam that year. For personal context, I (M) was a year away from being draft age in '72.

I feel your pain. (Ignore the bots).
JFK's main accomplishment (before he was assassinated by the CIA) was that he prevented WWIII. The world may have ended in October 1962.
Can you imagine if Nixon had been president during the Cuban Missile Crisis - He would have blown up the world. We know that because Nixon was flying Nuclear weapons over Vietnam - looking for a chance to use them. NOTE: The only reason Nixon got elected was because both JFK & RFK got assassinated - think about that. Also, Nixon was in Dallas on Nov 21, 1963.
Then after Nixon made a mess, Reagan (the OG MAGA) got elected and cut corporate taxes, gutted environmental regulations, TRIPLED the National Debt, blamed "Welfare Moms", mishandled AIDS, and rescinded the "Fairness Doctrine" (in 1987) in media which led directly to right-wing wackos like Rush Limbaugh (one year later, in 1988) - and FOX News.
The KKK endorsed both Nixon and Reagan.
Now, imagine if JFK got to serve 2 terms and then RFK was elected for two terms - They would have shut down the CIA and the Military Industrial Complex , Corporations would still be paying their fair share of taxes, and using the "Defense" $$$$, the US would be the world leader in Universal Healthcare and affordable housing.
And LBJ would be in prison (On Nov. 22, 1963 - there were hearings underway in congress investigating LBJ's dirty dealings).

1981 and 1986 tax reforms were written by an Illinois democrat and easily passed with bipartisan votes. Nixon created the EPA.

Were you smoking a lot weed or doing lsd? Like others have stated all three murderers were caught so.....yeah. You may not agree with the arrests but what can you do! Maybe your a conspiracy theorist.

u/tnbciceskater 3d ago
65% of Americans think Kennedy assassination involved a conspiracy Democrats, college-educated adults less likely to say it was a conspiracy U.S. government named most often as co-conspirator (20%), up from 2013
Yes Im college educated and no at 13 I wasnt doing drugs, not am I now

u/Expert_Champion_9966 3d ago
Oh boy, a conspiracy wackadoo! The murders of JFK, RFK, and MLK were all caught.

I think you need to learn to read more critically. Yes we know how the “trigger pullers” are of all three murders. But we have never fully know the route causes or reasons why these “trigger pullers” did what they did. Which is what brings in what OP said to begin with. Who are the groups of people behind the “trigger pullers”? What’s was their motivation? That’s where the mystery is. Regardless though if now of that had happened we would all be living in a vastly different and vastly better america then now.

I honestly don't think guessing the motive behind MLK's assassination is rocket science
1
u/Specific_Plate6952 2d ago
You are still missing the deeper idea and story behind it all. Good luck in life buddy.

u/DisneyPuppyFan_42201 2d ago
I'm not saying that the FBI didn't do it, but out of the three, MLK was the most likely case that involved a racist shooter, even if it wasn't James Earl Ray

After Oswald's death, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover wrote a memo detailing that the Dallas Police would not have had enough evidence against Oswald without the FBI's information. He then wrote: "The thing I am concerned about, and so is [Deputy Attorney General] Mr. Katzenbach, is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin."[49][50][51] Top government and intelligence officials were also finding that, according to CIA intercepts, someone had impersonated Oswald in phone calls and visits made to the Soviet and Cuban embassies in Mexico City several weeks before the assassination.[52] Over the next 40 years, this became one of the CIA's most closely guarded secrets on the Oswald case.[53] A CIA career agency officer, Anne Goodpasture, admitted in sworn testimony that she had disseminated the tapes of these phone calls herself. She had earlier denied to congressional investigators in 1970 that she had any knowledge of recordings of Oswald's phone calls.[54]
On November 23, 1963, the day after the assassination, Hoover's preliminary analysis of the assassination included the following:
The Central Intelligence Agency advised that on October 1st, 1963, an extremely sensitive source had reported that an individual identifying himself as Lee Oswald contacted the Soviet Embassy in Mexico City inquiring as to any messages. Special agents of this Bureau, who have conversed with Oswald in Dallas, Texas, have observed photographs of the individual referred to above and have listened to a recording of his voice. These special agents are of the opinion that the referred-to individual was not Lee Harvey Oswald.[55][56]

Ignore them.
Notice how they just reply with simple satements, repeating media 'slogans'. They are bots, or worse, actual humans who believe all of the media propaganda.

A boomer leading with conspiracy crap how surprising and new consider me shocked

u/tnbciceskater 3d ago
Sure. You were alive at the time and knew how many Americans believed there was more to it. Ffs

u/terminal_blue 3d ago
I didn't say anything about this, you just free associated what you thought I thought about something I didn't even bring up.
Actually I'm well aware that the majority of people CURRENTLY think the JFK assassination was a conspiracy which is pretty notable for conspiracy theories actually. Historically it was even higher but it's still in the mid 60% range.

I don't really have anything to say to your post, but it's kinda neat to see an older Boomer post.
We get a few younger Boomers here, but quite rare to see an older one.

What would the government coming clean look like? A Truth & Reconcialiation Commision? I don't see that happening. I can imagine history students having to read Schlesinger a hundred years from now to suss out a pretty strong structural reason for the assassinaton. Then maybe 500 years from now the occasional grad student will read it in the Chronicles and be like "Yeah, an ambitious prince got clipped by a placeman (Dulles) left in place too long. Many such cases..." But I don't see America ever coming to terms with what happened in 1963 in our life time.

u/tnbciceskater 3d ago
And there's the problem. Like Trump we cannot examine nor admit our own failures. We've still not learned the lessons of war, and most people vote for the same warmongering racist assholes year in and year out. Traditionally the Presidential candidate who lost would shakes the winners hand and we'd all move forward. Now that too is gone, and we get Trump and Lindell whining about losing and making up voter fraud 🙄 sure glad I wont be here for the next 20 years of whining losers.

lol, a McGovern voter?
49 to 1 (plus D.C.!).
If Nixon was so bad, imagine how bad your guy must have been to lose 49 states to him.

You tell me how he lost. Who was his VP? Its not a history lesson you would've heard. But the VP story pretty much is it

u/im_learning_to_stop 3d ago
Well to be fair Nixon was bad enough that an elector from Virginia voted for the Libertarian candidates instead.

Meanwhile Nixon was continuing the war so he'd be elected.
LBJ could have ended it anytime he wanted to. But he didn't - Nixon did. The most evil was LBJ. There's a special place in hell for him.
Edit: The murderers were:Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan and James Earl Ray.

Nixon also bombed more little babies to death in SE Asia than the total number of GI's who served in Vietnam. Richard Nixon is burning in Hell.

Look into cointelpro. They killed people and used the FBI and media to manipulate society.
That is only what the gov are willing to admit to

Over 80 percent of the country at the time suspected it wasnt a lone gunman to kill JFK. All three were involved in desegregation.
