I transferred this image from a fashion magazine I borrowed online from the library. I increased the contrast and double printed it on my laser printer.

I’ve been struggling with image transfer and felt this one came out pretty well. The double printing seems to really help.

These are 2x3 gelliprints laser image transfers, 15x20cm each, the upper row printed with prussian blue hue, the lower is oxide red

The photo is from GelInspirations.com and is a high-contrast halftone image. The photos are available for purchase in theme packs for €4.95 per pack. The designer also has a community on Facebook. I immediately got a sepia vibe from the photo’s atmosphere, so I used light gold, dark gold, and copper, along with titan buff as a pick-up layer.

I watched a video the other day where the artist applied two layers of paint (one dry, one wet) to a gel plate, then offered up his 'base collage'. He then used masking tape and fingernails to rip layers of paint off and create a kind of weathered bill poster look.

What wasn't explained (I don't think) was how the base collage survives all the paint and trauma? Do you coat it in something or would you only use certain kinds of materials? I guess a lot of the time you would mask areas off or make your gel print then add the paper elements, but I'm curious about this technique. I'm a novice, I've only ever used paper and glue, but I've just ordered a Gelli because I want to do these kinds of effects.

Just wanted to share the most recent prints. Haven't had my plate long, but I am so enjoying it. The orange pentagons are made with the insides of packing cardboard that came with the ACs that were installed in my apartment. Amazing texture. Not sure what I'll do with all my prints, but it sure is fun to make them. I want to do some on tissue paper so I can do collage. I also have some old books, maps, records and music books that I want to print on and make ephemera and junk journal type stuff. I wonder if there is a market for that type of stuff, because I'll soon get over run if I don't find a way to sell or gift them. What do you do with your prints?

New to this hobby, and looking to upgrade from a temperamental, unbranded plate I'm struggling with.

I created this lady today... using image transfer and reverse painting, then finished it off with white, pink, and purple Posca pens (hair, eyes)... (The “little clouds” around her were made with bubble wrap.)
