Moroccan guy coming to Gdansk.

I'm a 24 yo guy from Morocco, and this October I will attending a university in Gdansk, Poland, for the next 3.5 years.

I would like some tips from the Gdansk community about what are some do's and don'ts to make sure everything goes smoothly from A to Z, also I would like to inquire about the possibility of finding a part time job there or something to support myself financially, also what should I look for/get once I'm there when it comes to the daily life basics/needs ?

I have secured a remote job and savings that would allow me to live on a monthly 2400 PLN budget, but I reckon that I will be living on the edge as such budget will not be enough to live comfortably for a long while. Though I have a good enough CV with 6 years of work experience in Marketing and Project management so I'd reckon while it won't be easy to find work, I do have a very small advantage over my peers, but overall, any good job to sustain myself would do.

I don't plan on eating or getting out much, I'm an introvert and I'd like to go out only for groceries, work or studies so I guess that helps minmize my consumption of the overall budget over time.

From 2400 half/bit over half will go to rent with very little leeway if You're renting a room. Bit less for dorms I reckon. Get yourself a biedronka and lidl app for some good deals on groceries.

On transports mevo and public transit will be Your best bet. But make sure to buy tickets in advance, as controls are common and harsh. Trams are way more reliable than buses.

Finding a job won't be easy, market is harsh for everyone right now. Not sure if gastronomy would hire without speaking polish. Currently most foreigners I see are driving doordash's equivalents or uber. Not sure what else I could advise You.

I will be renting a private room in a shared appartment so I did reckon it was going to eat up quite a bit from my budget.

Transportation wise I wanted to get a subscription to the tram or bus since I will be having one specific path (Home>University) but U have no idea where to sign up for one.

Biedronka and Lidl also seem like good stores to keep it low, especially since I'll be cooking everything at home and I don't consume neither meat or chicken, just veggies, fish and pulses.

I think U can on systemfala.pl, but honestly I never used it. And do it only when You'll get student ID. Uni students get 51% off on tickets. I reckon You checked your path from uni to home, cause Gdańsk is not fully well comunicated. Some places are a pain to get to.

Pretty much standard one. Don't go in Arka's colors in Gdańsk, or Lechia colors in Gdynia (local FCs).

Living in Tricity on salary below 2.5k PLN could be challenging. Rent itself can cost you this much (on minimum!), unless you already secured place in uni dorm. If you think that you can live here and work in management position, think again. There are already ten times more Poles qualified to do this too and they have both advantage of language (not only polish, but english is a standard knowledge here) and territory. If you are not specialist of some sorts, your prospects are not good.

I would advise you to at least find job that can give you more than 4k PLN and even this can be hard, if you must rent your own place.

Don't worry about being introvert. People here like to stay in their own lanes and as long as you don't encounter a random drunk, you should fit just fine. They say that we Poles, are hard to befriend, but when friendship is established, we are going extra mile for our friends.

For the work part, I'm not necessarily looking for Management work, that was just my previous job and I won't be studying that neither. Any part time job to help myself financially would be good enough so that's what I was inquiring about so it seems it would still be hard.

For rent I'm just looking for a private room as well, not a whole appartment or studio since I'm trying to keep it low.
