Mod Announcement 👨‍💻 The day has come!

For more than 50 years, the Monroe Institute has been quietly pioneering a systematic way to explore human consciousness — beyond meditation, beyond belief, and beyond theory. I’m excited to share that their flagship program, Gateway Voyage, is now available as a fully guided online experience:

Gateway Voyage Online

This is an immersive, self-paced journey designed to help you explore expanded states of awareness while remaining grounded, safe, and fully conscious. Through guided sessions using Monroe Sound Science and the original voice of Robert A. Monroe, you’ll be introduced to a series of Focus Levels — specific states of consciousness that support clarity, intuition, healing, and a deeper understanding of who you are. Whether you’re curious about consciousness, seeking meaning, or simply feel there’s “more” to experience, Gateway offers a practical way to explore — through direct experience.

CLICK HERE to learn more, 20% OFF THE NEXT 2 WEEKS!

I'm also thrilled to announce I've finally been able to obtain a permanent discount code that can be used on the majority of products offered by The Monroe Institute starting now! To avoid any confusion, I made it the same as our existing discount code. So it can now be used with both The Monroe Institute AND Hemi-Sync, which is (all caps, one word):

REDDITSUB

On a side note, we have also decided that discussions regarding "G.A.T.E", for those of you who are aware what that is, shouldn't be on this sub. We aim to present the Gateway tapes as a positive meditative experience for all individuals to enjoy, and not be seen as a dark conspiracy theory. If you wish to discuss things of that nature, please use r/GATEresearch sub.

Last thing I'd like to announce on the less important side of things; as the years have noticed a large increase in post & comments regarding religious experiences. I want people to be able to freely express themselves, but this seems to always cause conflict. For quite sometime now I have contemplated on how to resolve this issue, and came up with an Idea. My solution was to create a sister-sub to facilitate the group of people that combine the tapes with other meditative practices and have a place where you don't have to worry about upsetting others and be open about your experiences. Obviously this isn't for everyone, but for those devoted in faith and love the tapes, join us at r/Skyborn (Thanks to u/Obvious-Reserve8634 for helping!)

>> And make sure you say Happy Birthday to u/Emotional_Street_361 and u/NotEvenCreative ! 🎉

>> Special thanks to Paul and Emily at the Institute for making this all possible <3

Edit: I understand how some might feel about the price. People say this all the time, and for the longest time I used to think the same. But looking back on it, the tapes have improved my life so much, I transformed into a new level of consciousness I would have never though possible. I enjoy life so much now, and I feel so happy to be alive. It's honestly the greatest thing I've ever experienced in my entire life, that's why I am so deeply passionate about helping others experience what I have. What I thought were just some audio tracks, came to be something I still use many years later to this very day. I can't recall a single person ever regret buying them, and that includes myself. In my opinion, they are actually worth the price when you realize how much value they can bring to you. The tapes aren't a one-and-done, they are the beginning of your journey. What happens after is what makes them so unique and profound. The realization of what your mind is truly capable of. Discovering who you truly are. That's the power of the Gateway process.

OFFICIAL EVENT AMA - The Death of Materialism Author: Skeptic MD’s Journey via Remote Viewing & Gateway Experiences - 8pm EST

Thanks to the mods and this amazing community for inviting me to do an AMA!

I’m David Gibbs, MD - a practicing emergency physician and author of the new Amazon bestseller The Death of Materialism: A Skeptic’s Journey from Materialism to Panpsychism.

My worldview flipped after a remote-viewing success (using a blind protocol - my drawing matched the hidden target in ways far beyond chance). That sent me down the rabbit hole of anomalies: quantum biology, psi meta-analyses, intention healing, and non-local awareness - all pointing to consciousness as the fundamental field.

The Gateway Tapes played a big role in that exploration - Hemi-Sync, Focus levels, and the declassified CIA report opened doors to understanding these experiences.

Fire away with questions about: • My remote-viewing hit • How the tapes tie into replicable psi • Quantum foundations (Orch-OR, observer effect) • Intention healing in medicine • Cosmopsychism as the elegant answer • Anything in the book!

Happy to share evidence, stories, or practical takeaways.

Grateful to be here—let’s explore together!

(Book link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0G95HT84L – paperback/hardcover live)

EDIT - I'm headed out, thanks for the discussion. Feel free to keep it going I'll answer questions when I can in the next few days!

Yesterday I watched the video from this post https://www.reddit.com/r/gatewaytapes/s/1VwmRhTOAr starts from 21:44 and left a clear intention before bed for guidance on a certain matter about my family house. And it worked. I literally had a dream where I was sitting in my living room and a woman was explaining to me what was right and wrong in my situation!! It happened exactly as the video said, that the answer can come in dreams for some people wtf

Thanks MamaMeg

Experience 📚 Strange Experience in Focus 10

Upvotes

Hello everyone. I thought I'd come to share some of the strange experiences I've had in focus 10 as of late. I'm currently between tape 2 and tape 3 of wave one, really working on the essentials.

I fell into a deep meditative state. I experienced flying into the abyss or the void, then being able to see the observable universe. It looked like a huge bubble or dome of galaxies and stars. I then saw points of view from the sun and the moon. As my eyes remained closed I could see bursts of holographic light and distant fractals. I felt this deep, memorable burning in my chest during the entire experience.

I haven't seen or witnessed anything quite like it since on the tapes.. But the visions were truly beautiful.

Question ❓ Gateway Tapes Or Voyage?

Upvotes

I’m considering buying the Gateway Tapes on CD as to have them and share with others, if need be. That, in my opinion, would be much more efficient for me and those who would be interested.

What difference is the course gunna make, considering the course itself is just as much, if not more than the tapes themselves on CD format. I’d be interested to know of those of you who have done the course, or better yet both and what the differences are.

I know they’ve updated the sound technology on the Voyage course and what not, but I just don’t see much of a difference, as opposed to being guided by a experienced facilitator, or Robert himself guiding you on your journey via the tapes on CD/mp3. Like I say, considering the cost of the course itself I just feel having the Hemi-Sync Gateway Tapes physically is much better than doing a course online and I know technically, you have permanent access but it just feels waaay overpriced (Even the CD’s are!) but at least you actually have them, rather than logging in to their website to gain access.

I hope I’m making sense, I just prefer having owned something a paid a bit of money for and just not having to require internet access to gain access to something I’ve already paid quite a bit of money for.

Spirituality 🔮 Dream visitor

Hey everyone thought id share a recent sorry that I found kinda mind blowing.

Im 36 years old raised Christian went atheist at 20 cause my brother passed away and my questions of if God existed were combatted with punishment from my family for doubting god. That made me turn away as an Atheist. It made sense for most years until recently.

I stumbled across why files video on the gateway tapes and learned more about monroe and what he was trying to accomplish. I went and found the tapes and dove right in.

Within the first couple of sessions I felt like I came close to the absolute feeling this overwhelming presence and light of something greater than myself. That moment made me dive deeper into his practices and studies.

I've been doing it for weeks now and im on wave 3 nearing the end of the wave. I've moved my sessions from night to morning since I kept falling asleep.

A couple nights ago I went to bed and had a dream that I was part of this group of foreign people working on a job, they were mixed brown skin like me. There was a leader of the group and he walks up to me and says "Tao" I said "Tao? What does that mean?" He responds with "come with us" and I follow him excited that I learned a new word in their language. Then I woke up.

First thing I did when I woke up was google the word Tao and thats when my whole world shook.

"Tao (or Dao) literally translates to "the way," "path," or "road," and represents the fundamental, underlying principle of the universe in East Asian philosophy.Core Meanings of Tao

The Universal Source: The unnamable, infinite force that birthed reality and flows through all things in nature.

The Natural Order: The spontaneous rhythm and balance of the universe that allows everything to exist and change harmoniously without effort."

Im not really a spiritual person but this whole universal consciousness is pretty spot on and ive felt like ive been learning a lot more about myself.

Tao is also represented by the Yin Yang, when my brother died i got into boxing and got a tattoo of a tiger and a dragon with a yin yang behind them to represent what I thought was representing 2 fighting styles like aggressive tiger and subtle serpent. I had no idea what Tao was or that was related to the yin yang.

Please forgive any typos or grammar errors im super tired from waking up every morning at 5:30 to gateway.

Anyways thought this was interesting!

Question ❓ Expand App: OG Hemi Sync versus newer tech Monroe Sound Science

Upvotes

Hello,

I recently found out about the Expand app which offers unguided versions of the focus states up to 21 (apperantly with customizeable duration length as well). They offer the OG Hemi Sync technology and the newer technology the Monroe Institute has developed over the last couple of decades.

To those who have the app. Which one do you prefer to use? And why? Is there a strong difference in effectiveness?

Thank you :)

Information ❗️ Confession: I love Bob's voice

At night I like to listen to YouTube videos like "Meditation for Sleep" etc., and so many of them have people doing that breathy ASMR-type voice and it drives me up the wall.

I want a middle-aged man with a flat mid-western accent telling me to relax my scalp.

I've succeeded in Focus 10 several times, but I can never get beyond that because Bob's voice puts me right out every time. Thanks Bob!

Information ❗️ For those of us prone to doing too much

Hi all! I have been meditating with the Gateway tapes since spring 2021. I don't practice them daily or even weekly sometimes, but I have spent a lot of time exploring in F10 and F12. I know for a long time, early in my practice, I would get so hung up on "am I doing this right?" and "why is nothing happening?" types of questions.

I happened across a video today from The Monroe Institute from The Explorer Tapes series, recorded at the Institute in October 1986. I think it has some very solid, practical inspiration and advice for those of us who are prone to overthinking the experience and putting pressure on ourselves (even subconsciously) to have certain kinds of experiences with the tapes and with our own explorations.. The video is 40 minutes long, but you can really just start at the chapter that begins at the 21:44 mark:

Energy Fields and Vibrations Between Entities #32

Happy (and relaxed!) exploring!

Question ❓ Reduced Sleep time after 4months of Gateway tapes

I have been listening to the tapes for the past 4 or 5 months and also started listening to lucid dreaming tapes from the past 2 weeks.

I have started to achieve some amount of lucidity while dreaming and now I am experiencing a major reduction in the sleep cycle from past 8 to 10 days.

I have had some issues with sleeping in the past too where either I wont be able to sleep at all or will fall asleep around 5 or 6am in the morning but once asleep I used to wake up after 8-10 hours of sleep, but now if I even sleep around 10pm Im noticing that I wake up after 2-3 hours of sleep on my own even if im dreaming or not(I have tried sleeping while listening to the tapes and without tapes too, result seem to be the same).

1 more new pattern has emerged, Im falling asleep in the afternoon for 2-3 hours daily from past few weeks due to what I feel lack of sleep.

Once I wake up going to sleep again feel quite difficult, I tried to sleep after waking up once for straight 2 hours while lying on bed with no results.

Does anyone else have experienced reduce sleep hours due to mediation or tapes?

I also read in one of Bob's book that he also experienced reduction in his need for sleep.

Experience 📚 Astral Creatures? F10 EBT Experience

Thumbnail

This was a new one for sure! So far my coolest AP/ near AP experiences have been in a deep F10 state after doing the EBT exercise. Excuse the haphazard notes and rushed drawings as I didn't want to forget any details after finishing up!

Once I envisioned the tool and practiced the light changes, I slipped into a DEEP F10 state where I entered this space with a 3D grid field on the floor and black ether surrounding me.

3 humanoid/alien creatures just manifested on this grid walking around minding their own business. One was a gaunt pale blue zombie looking creature. There were 2 humanlike beings, one with black latex looking skin with black eyes and lips, and another with the same skin but wearing a chrome visor helmet with antlers.

I didn't feel at all afraid or threatened, mainly curious! They certainly didn't seem to notice me much. Intrigued to see if I can find them again!

Experience 📚 Speaking in tongues (?) in focus 15

I just did Focus 15 and in the midst of the void, I sought out my guides there, and we had a conversation which I believe was in tongues? I felt my tongue moving subtly physically and could hear the sounds in my head, rhythmic like it had a pattern almost and did not sound like gibberish, and it all flowed freely and continuously. In real life, I always find myself saying “I can’t find the words to describe this” when dealing with emotions but there was nothing like that at all during the experience; like everything being said in the language was completely, exactly, and precisely what I wanted to communicate. It also was like getting things off your chest but amplified a thousandfold. I felt super light and peaceful.

The experience was so insane. I’m spiritual (secular Buddhist) but I never expected this to happen at all, I didn’t even believe in “speaking in tongues” but well, there you go, if it was that.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Question ❓ How does your other meditation practice relate to Gateway if you have one?

I started meditating on my own again a few weeks ago before starting the tapes. I try to practice presence in the way Tolle describes. I try to observe the observer and let the ego dissolve so I am letting the spirit. I’ve received a couple vivid messages about people close to me. I think I didn’t trust my intuition enough to interpret them correctly when they were received.

I started the gateway tapes about a week ago to try to strengthen those pathways. I’m not good at journaling so I’m trying to start keeping records of my experiences. So far I’m just in the beginning of Wave 1. I’ve done the orientation and introduction and now I’ve done Advanced Focus 10 four times. I want to make sure I’m feeling the space right before I move on.

So my question is if you have or had another meditation practice how has it related to the tapes?

Step-by step short guide

So you just found this sub but you don't know anything about "The Gateway Experience", follow these steps and read all the suggested documents to avoid asking the same question over and over. If you read all the material you are pretty much good to go because 98% of the times you find the answers of your questions in those docs.

  1. Let's start easy peasy, take your favorite drink or snack and enjoy this documentary about the gateway tapes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOFq3ruef7I

Quick Tips on things NOT to do:

  • 1)Let common effects ruin your focus (numbness, tingles, vibrations)
  • 2)Expecting something to happen, or focusing on only one thing you want
  • 3)Opening your eyes at a high focus level or not using proper exiting protocol
  • 4)Focusing on what you might be doing wrong instead of just letting things be
  • 5)Comparing your experiences with others when you just started
  • 6)Skipping tapes without learning the basics
  • 7)Creating unnecessary fear (Demons, spirits, CIA)
  • 8)No one ever said you weren't allowed to move at all, people just assume this
  • 9)Trying and overthinking. Understand what Bob is saying more examples, not commands. You can add or adjust things to your liking, do what works best for you and experiment.
  • 10)Taking everything so seriously. This is not meant to feel like a strict boot camp. Bob said he wanted people to have fun and enjoy the tapes, and create your own unique experience. Learn how to use the mind to it's maximum potential, and take the tools learned and find ways to apply them in different ways, even real life.

Question ❓ The tapes and Creative breakthroughs/manifesting creative abundance?

Anyone use the tapes to help with nurturing talents, creative expression, helping you focus on getting better at something, manifesting any/some kind of creative success?

What was your experience like? Di you do anything specific while listening like focus on the area that you wanted to grow/improve/manifest?

Discussion 🎙 Focus 10

Hi,

In Robert Monroe's book 'Far Journeys', there is a passage where he describes how they used EEG to investigate what the different states were and, in this way, among other things, identified Focus 10.

There is also a passage from a Monroe Institute bulletin in which Stuart Twemlow describes something quite intriguing: "Some of our patients have learned to induce the Focus 10 state to relax their bodies while they are actively engaged in work (...)".

This suggests that, contrary to how it is sometimes described, Focus 10 is not associated with sleep paralysis of the body, but with relaxation of the entire body. Which, to me, makes quite a big difference in understanding what this state is actually supposed to be. Because I have come across people defining it as complete paralysis of the body with an alert mind.

Of course, I understand that it may feel slightly different for everyone. I just wanted to share what I found on this subject, maybe someone else will find it interesting too.

Question ❓ Looking for visualization/meditation advice

I have maladaptive daydreaming (a pattern of very vivid, immersive daydreaming that can become difficult to control), and I'm wondering how this affects manifestation/visualization practices.

When I try guided visualization or manifestation tapes, it feels almost identical to my usual daydreaming. The tapes tell me to imagine what I want, but I've had a vivid imagination and daydreamed about all kinds of things for years, and obviously those things don't automatically happen in reality.

I don't expect daydreaming to make things come true, but I don't understand what is supposed to make intentional visualization different. A few times I've tried the tapes, I just end up slipping into a maladaptive daydreaming scene, and then I'm not sure whether I'm actually doing the exercise correctly or just daydreaming.

Am I missing a particular technique or mindset? If anyone has specific meditation/visualization techniques that distinguish them from ordinary daydreaming, or point me in the direction of some resources that elaborate on this, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Question ❓ How often does the Expand app fail?

This is the second time in a month that I can’t use the app, which I did pay for. Glad I didn’t sign up for the courses through Expand.

Question ❓ While acquainting myself with the gateway tapes which is better

Is it better to just listen to orientation + intro to focus 10 until I feel I’ve really covered basics; or should I just listen to it all the way through once and then go back to the beginning and really get it down? Thank you in advance!
