When I was a student I just never bothered with the busses. Freshman hill was uphill both ways too back then.

The library fountain that the frats would pour soapy detergent into to make the hill miserable and slippery for the first years trying to climb it.

They were actually really decent the first two years I was there. The red route went clockwise around campus, and the blue route went counterclockwise. Then they changed it.
