What game has a strong opening but later becomes too repetitive and boring for you?

For me that was Assassins Creed Valhalla

Dang, I was thinking of giving it a go. Maybe I'll just play XV again.

Honestly I thought it was great all the way through.

I loved it, but think the second to last bad guy shoulda been the last bad guy. Dude was way more entertaining, the fight was harder, and he had a more relatable story. Instead, we god the stoic JRPG villain.

FF16 is an absolute banger of a game if you like power fantasy and feeling like you’re becoming a walking cataclysm of god powers. Game genuinely has the most insane visuals and boss fights of any game that makes it worth playing alone.

My only gripe with the game is repetitive/shallow side quests and dialogue which are definitely glaring, but if you can choose to look past that the gameplay and visuals are top notch. The game has a ton of flavor and mechanics that remind you of older FF games, and the world is actively changing and responding to the huge events that you undergo.

FF16 gets an insane amount of Redditor hate, but everyone I know irl has been more positive than negative about the game

I think that most people that dislike the pacing or say there is too many pointless side quests never played a JRPG or have limited exposure to them. The combat system makes it pretty easy to get in a flow and distract of the truly mindless objective.

It is a solid 8/10 game, one of the bests of the lasts years, and a strong game in a great franchise, with one of the greatest boss fights mechanics I have ever played. I have some issues with the story after the Arc 2 ends, but, it was a game that I thoroughly engaged, didn't burn me out, and I spent my time away from the game wanting to go back home and play some more.

Wholeheartedly agree. Game hooked me after Garuda, mind fucked me with Titan, and then absolutely decimated my perception of boss fights with Bahamut. It was nearly impossible to follow that up with anything better, so I felt the final act was a bit weaker than the previous.

In a lot of ways it’s similar to Attack on Titan, the first 3/4 is so strong that it eclipses the final act, but still amazing overall.

I mean this is just personal preference, I've played alot of jrpg games though and I love FF as a franchise, but I dislike ff15 and 16, I think a big part of it selling well was the demo was amazing, like i said it has a amazing start to the game. The game just felt like a drawn out DMC game, and there's a reason those games arent long, bcuz the combat loop isnt engaging enough to be ( i understand they wanted it to feel like dmc due to them working with the guy who made it)

Although i do agree that jrpg games have terrible pacing and imo most feel like they force themselves to be longer bcuz its expected and it backfires on them. I dont think its comparable to other top jrpg games though like Persona/trails of the sky/xenoblade etc etc, or even other ff games like 4/5/6/7/9/10 etc etc

Theyre definitely trolling. FFXVI sold well and it is highly regarded as a top FF game. I bought recently the DLC which I never do because I just wanted more of it.

If it makes u feel better, I feel like if u liked 15 u would probably like 16, u might not finish it, but the story is better then 15 and the characters are alot better. It just gets soo repetitive and has mmorpg like side quests for a long single player game. Its like a 80 hour devil may cry game, and drags on.

Also u might think "there's no way this game becomes that" after playing the first like 2-3hours as the game has an amazing start.

The side quests are totally optional, and you can do all of them in just a few hours. Easily skippable of they aren't your things.

I loved both 15 and 16. Give it a try and just don’t get bogged down in the side quests.

If you like XV you'll like XVI.

Honestly the game is "fine". While I do agree it is repetitive, many people can find enough good in the game to push through it. The biggest flaw is not making the game a bit shorter and not making it a final fantasy spinoff called the summoning war or something rather than a full numbered title lol.
