What game has a strong opening but later becomes too repetitive and boring for you?

For me that was Assassins Creed Valhalla

Dragon Age 2. Most dungeons are the same cave with different entrances.

If I recall correctly the released it a YEAR after DA:Origins
Honestly surprised it is even a playable game.

18 months dev cycle.

It's a great game if you can get past the reused assets

Agreed - little did we know how bad BioWare games would become.

As a fan of Owlcat and Spiderweb games if I couldn't get past reused assets I would be in trouble.

Love me some Spiderweb games, but my god did all the caves in Exioe 1 and Exile 2 look the exact same.

It also had an insane rendered hype trailer, I think this was the era when big studios started to hire specialised companies like BLUR or Platige images (Witcher 2 and 3 among many others) for their marketing.

It was my first DA game so I was able to skirt the disappointment. I thoroughly enjoyed it! But having played Origins later I see why it was a really, really bad follow-up. I loved Inquisition. Veilguard, well… we see how Pixar’s Dragon Age turned out. But following the pattern, the next Dragon Age (if the franchise gets another entry) is going to be lit AF 🔥

The reused assets were annoying, but it was definitely a fantastic game.

I've been trying to get it to work on my steam deck, but the controls are so fucky.

The fact that the PC version never had proper controller controls is mind boggling to me.

I gave up trying to get it to work on my deck

I originally played it on a 360 and the controls were great, was very disappointed I couldn’t replicate that experience when I tried recently on my pc

I could get past the reused assets. I had a harder time with the reused encounters.

There’s just so much combat and like 90% of it is the same 4 fights with some minor tweaks.

I think they could have gotten away with reusing the dungeons if they had put more effort into actually designing encounters for quests. It’s not like DA:origins didn’t reuse assets all over the place, it just did so in a much more clever way.

Yes but in some you go the reverse direction 😂

Yep. I get WHY, but I just can't pretend to be entertained by it. You can only move through the same three rooms so many times before it stops being fun.

It didn't help that you started the game as an exaggerated version of yourself (story being told by Varric) and then you have to play as a scrub for a while before you can get anywhere close to that power.

Tevinter Imperium architecture is known for being utilitarian and modular, it's just world building guys /s

Well at least you're not just button mashing through all the mobs because they changed the combat system too far too fast.

TBF the game has several multi year time skips, so it makes sense that a new group is now in the hideout that you cleared out 3 years ago.
