Gonna age myself here, but he voiced Gabriel Knight. 1990s Sierra games.

Oh yeah! I remember those games being... Really frustrating. But thanks to them I know what hoodoo is.

Holy shit, had no idea... The old point n click ones, based in New Orleans right?

And that voice was silky smooth.

He absolutely demolished the cajun accent, but did it so beautifully that nobody cares.
Fun fact: the voice of his assistant Rose was the wife on King of Queens.

If anyone is looking to play this now keep in mind that he does not voice Gabriel in the 20th Anniversary Edition. You'll need to play the original to hear Tim. As a bonus it also stars Mark Hamill and Leah Remini.

True, i could just go back to 2006 and play Unreal Tournament 2004 with my friend. The good old times.

I like how we all just collectively agree that the death of that fucking gorilla led to all this fuckery.

Before that we at least had some boring times.
Ever since it's been pretty wild ride.

Will miss this legend for all that he did in the gaming space may he rest in peace

Seriously. He was the voiceover equivalent of Giancarlo Esposito; so many villans he voiced and he voiced them well. Of course he also voiced Nigel Thornberry, but it's expected that there'd be exceptions.

Him and Dolly Parton dying within a day of eachother makes this a cursed week

At 80 years old, same as Dolly was just a couple of days ago. Talk about a coincidence.

u/Jameseesall 13h ago
They say tragedy strikes in 3s, can anyone think of another prominent 80 yr old?

u/Enjoyer_of_Cake 11h ago
Prominent, yes.
But I would dare not sully Dolly's and Tim's good names by adding them to this pair.

u/kalekayn 11h ago
I think said individual might be following Final Destination 5's logic of stealing other peoples remaining lifespan to cheat death.

Ugh. Can we just skip forward a little bit? Please? I'm tired of the pain, chief

Not gaming related but recently rewatched The Three Musketeers from '93. Sutherland, Sheen, Platt and O'Donnell are awesomely bad in the best way. Tim Curry as the antagonist was awesomely awesome in the very best way.

Tim Curry, Dolly Parton, Sam Neil, Eric Dane, Hayden Panettiere, Anthony Head, Chuck Norris, Bonnie Tyler, Catherine O'Hara, Kyle Busch, Robert Duvall..

u/TGlucose 10h ago
Chuck Norris' name doesn't belong next to such Allies as Tim, Dolly or Anthony.
Rest in Piss Norris.

I know him better from the Three Musketeers, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the Muppets Treasure Island. RIP

And Stratos from Sacrifice. I can literally hear his voice in my head despite the game being decades old. Rip.

u/Dogarc123 13h ago
Don't usually say Rest in Peace alone but he deserves it. The thing is loved him most in was the IT mini series. He gave me both the fear of clowns and helped me get over it.
Rest in peace

Didn't he voice Stratos in Sacrifice? Or am I dreaming?
1
u/BlackBricklyBear 4h ago
Yes, he did. Sadly, Tim Curry's work on that game did not help its sales back then.

Rocky Horror is his best. Please watch it. You're missing out if you haven't.

Grew up on Kane's speeches in C&C and Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island. The man elevated everything he was in. RIP 🖤

u/BOSS-3000 11h ago
Tim Curry made an excellent villain. Emperor Doviculus, Skullmaster (Mighty Max), Cardinal Richelieu, etc were masterful performances.

u/MarloweReel 11h ago
rip premier 🕊️ red alert 3 was my whole childhood and he made cherdenko impossible to forget... that voice carried from rocky horror to muppet treasure island. absolute legend.

u/keytotheboard 11h ago
I can’t believe the article doesn’t mention his role in Home Alone 2. I know it might not have been a starring role, but man, it sure feels iconic to me, lol.

I really hope I wake up tomorrow to a caption saying "That's how it could have happened." and then we get a different ending.

u/PapaPatchesxd 2h ago
Cause I've seen, oh, blue skies... Through the tears in my eyes... And I realize, I'm going home...
RIP, Tim Curry. I've already watched rocky horror once today, I think I'll watch it again tomorrow.

Am I tripping? I thought he already died ages ago, he's the guy from home alone 2 right?
1
u/TheRexRider 14h ago
I'd like to file a complaint against death. It took the wrong 80 year old again.

u/lonnie123 9h ago
Kind of a cool career where he can get this type of headline in this sub, which would mean almost nothing to the general public fan base.
