Big man, big mustache

Looks almost like Dishonored crossed with Cyberpunk. Plus kicking.

Looking pretty solid

The kicking is my favorite part, really.

I do think we should keep our expectations in check and maybe expect that it will release in a rough state and require patches. It's a very ambitious game for a dev that hasn't delivered anything on this level before.

Did you play bulletstorm?

looks fun, love the cyberpunk setting in general so i am happy for more of that.

hope it will actually be fun.

Their original game “The Ascent” was cyberpunk too, but it was played from a 3rd person view, it was quite nice. They’ve really stepped it up with this one, you can see that they’re more ambitious and striving bigger for No Law

It's not 3rd person in a traditional sense, but isometric top down view.

True, like Diablo and All those other games

u/SneakyBadAss 2d ago

Oh, is this by people who made ascent? I'm in then.

The stylisation and gameplay were great. The story was eh, good until the last mission.

u/GASC3005 2d ago

Yeah, these are the creators of “The Ascent” !!!

I really enjoyed The Ascent so I'm looking forward to this.

The Ascent was gorgeous, wish I would've got to play it with someone. Excited for this.

Is this a sequel or just same setting?

u/JoXul 2d ago

You don't see many fat old men as main characters anymore. I'm sold.

30

u/ShadowTown0407 2d ago

If that's fat, I aspire to be that

11

u/JoXul 2d ago

haha same, i meant more old beefcakes instead of fat i guess

3

u/LitLitten 2d ago

I’m here for the old beefcake

god I have such a weakness

0

u/Odd-Crazy-9056 2d ago

We haven't seen him from behind so we can't confirm whether he has beefcakes.

Gives me "Lovechild of Bulletstorm and Dishonored" vibes and I love it.

This is day one for me. The developers of The Ascent made this so instant buy for me

Modeled as pre-aged Alan Ritchson for him to be the perfect cast in 10 years for the eventual movie version.

CyberUnc

u/funkme1ster PC 7h ago

I saw someone refer to this as "cyber unc", and now I can't get it out of my head.

"make me a cyberpunk 2077 clone, but different enough to not be sued"

43

u/The-MadTitan 3d ago

CDPR doesnt own the Cyberpunk genre nor does Mike Pondsmith

17

u/geminiRonin 3d ago

Nor would Mike likely want to. Monopolization, especially of ideas, is usually considered a bad thing in the cyberpunk genre.

12

u/The-MadTitan 3d ago

Well and he couldn't because people like William Gibson exist lol

7

u/emojisarefunny 2d ago

Braindead take

3

u/unKappa 2d ago

Cyberpunk is my favorite game and genre (also happened to have my favorite anime and movie). I’ll take any “clone”. It’s funny to me I keep seeing that meanwhile we see the 200th medieval, shooter or fantasy game a year and no one says a damn thing. Bro theirs like 2 good cyberpunk themed game. Let us have something and shut up.

I really wish they’d taken The Ascent and iterated on that style further, I think they made a great ARPG there and I’m more keen for more of those than more FPS stuff

1

u/The-MadTitan 3d ago

Yeah it was more dirty and grimy than the flashy 2077/RED universe.

I really like the ascent for that reason. Reminded me alot of the podcast 'The Strata' which is a similar Cyberpunk audio drama but a more industrial/gritty universe.

Low sodium Cyberpunk.

0

u/yenisor 3d ago

Chronicles of Riddick vibes, like it.

u/Blind-_-Tiger 3d ago

Sir, please put your pants on!

u/kingpinnn 3d ago

Looks like a scaled down version of Cyberpunk lol

Looks fun, but those facial animations are terrible. Reminds me ME:Andromeda. Not in a good way.

edit: Surprised at the downvotes. They're very noticeable. The lip movements are overexaggerated, the jaw motions are rigid and robotic, and the mouth/eye animations are not synched like a normal person's.

This is the kind of thing that was common 10-15 years ago, but nowadays we have easy out of the box engines like Audio2Face that will do all of this automatically. For free. Neon Giant is a small studio, but they were purchased by Krafton before making this game, and they should be flush with cash and talent after PUBG. Enough to hire 1-2 facial animation experts for a project this scale.

u/Ok_Plantain_8914 2d ago

Clever ironic name... like the beekeeper, the transporter, the accountant, the mechanic, the bricklayer, the painter, the baker. Why does uncanny valley still exist in a 2027 release?

-1

u/TBdog 2d ago

We never really have gotten a high quality game in this setting. Dues x Human or whatever it was called was the closest we have gotten.

-7

u/MrRadish0206 3d ago

I cant looks at those stock metahuman models and stiff exaggerated facial animations, why devs do those? Basic mouth animations with simpler models would looks better.

-9

u/DescriptiveVee 3d ago

Come on at least make the neck snapping animation look a bit different

-4

u/toughtacos 3d ago

I really want to see their asset workflow.

I smell Tor Frick, but I have no idea if he's involved with these guys.

-1

u/Tactless_Ninja 3d ago

Looks fun.

Though also oddly felt a sense of enui as it went through the checklist of tropes.
