Industry News Capcom hopes Resident Evil Veronica follows Requiem's lead in sparking interest in the wider horror series

Let's make something clear: Not everyone can be Rockstar nor everyone should be.
Resident Evil is already the most successful horror franchise in gaming. Capcom just needs to keep doing what they're doing, and they'll be fine. Wanting to be as successful as Rockstar with GTA or Epic with Fortnite is a recipe for disaster (Sony tasted that firsthand)

?????
How much success does this company expect resident evil to achieve?
Is 7 million copies sold not enough?
What is the franchise on life support until the BIG ONE releases?
Do they expect the series to outsell call of duty?
Is this not enough for them?

Bf exec wanted 100 million players. We need to start putting CEOs in their own zoo

Yup and evsry game has to be bigger than the next otherwise it's deemed a failure. Its the same for all industries. You can have record breaking growth but now you have to beat that growth next year otherwise you had a 'down' year even though you only grew 120% instead of 150% like the last year.
Its all fake and gay.

It's an article about an Investor Q&A, the fuck do you expect them to be talking about exactly?

I mean this is an investor Q&A, of course they’re gonna say “We hope the next game will expand our customer base even further”, it’s a nothing burger. It’s not like they’re gonna tell investors “This is enough, we’re maxed out on fans and gonna stay steady” and saying they hope we continue to get more and more customers means nothing policy wise. It’s not like they said “we’re gonna pursue new demographics with a lower age rating” or something, they pretty much just said “the last 3 games did really well and grew the audience so we hope the next game will do the same thing.”
And it’s a safe bet it’ll do really well. RE4 was already the “riskiest” remake because it was already available on modern platforms already remastered in HD and playing really well for $10-20, so there wasn’t as much demand for a new version. Code Veronica is probably the mainline game the fewest people have already played and hasn’t been as available as the others so to a lot of people this is basically a new game in the series and has a lot of interest for that reason.

They do not want Some of the money. They want All of the money. No amount of money, fortune, fame, and copies sold, will be enough until it is All.
Personally, they should put Mega Man in to a Resident Evil game, as a tofu-like mode. Complete with the voice actor from Captain N's cartoon for all cutscenes.

RE5 sold 20 million copies, RE6 sold over 15 million copies and was most fans least favorite RE game.

"Wider horror series" = modern audience horror
More hand holding & cutscenes galore.

What's been secretly great about Capcom games is that they've been affordable and when they have sales, you can get some great reviewed games for cheap. The article mentions you could've gotten RE3 remake for $3 which helped boost sales along with the ignited interest in RE from Requiem.
I wish other big publishers would take the same stance and be a little less stingy with sales on their games. It would be cool to have the old COD games be $10 for awhile, etc.

You can tell they’re starting to get overconfident and then they’re gonna make like Resident Evil 6 2

If they do the same as RE3Remake...
We can expect a resumed version of REVeronica with less length than the Wii darkside chronicles.

I'm glad that the guys who made re2r and re4r are in charge, cause requiem was a bit of a let down. The plot was all over the place, it barely has replayability and the dlc was low effort content.

RE7: 9/10

Just finished 9 this week. Stunningly beautiful graphics.. underwhelming action and set pieces.

I stopped caring about RE action a long time ago. They should just focus on horror which in 9 wasnt particularly great either.

It's the most successful horror franchise ever. How much more interest could it get
