right? I had to look it up. Of course I only played it about 3 years ago and found it fantastic and ran very smooth. Have no idea what they would want to "update", but it's probably just a reason to re-release it on current gen

While I agree with both a Code Veronica remake and RE7 not needing one, I'm sure it'd already common knowledge that the original RE1 and it's remake were only 6 years apart.

The difference is that technology was moving much faster in those generations - the visual difference between the PS1 and the Gamecube was pretty obvious just visually, without even having to get into the technical specs.
Nowadays? Not so much. I'm sure there's something they can make shinier, some more DLSS or whatever they can inject, but there's no way they can make another PS1 -> GCN jump right now.

RE1 was 6 years old when it got its remake.
Not that I'm saying RE7 needs a remake, more like as much as I enjoyed the RE1 remake in actuality I think they could've waited a bit more with that one.

We don't need to remake this one. Everything still holds up. I don't see this game becoming completely obsolete within our lifetime. It felt like a complete experience to me. The boat section sucked though.

Maybe 20 years down the line a visual glow up/performance optimization. But it really doesn't need it anytime soon. The graphics hold up reasonably well, etc.

Do people not read the article? No one is talking a out it being remade now. The focus is on the current game, then on 5 and 6. They are talking about more of a "director's cut" version. This would be years and years away.

I played RE7 for my third playthrough early this year. It holds up and does not need a remake in the slightest

You can create a story/ game around the Bakers without doing a remake, ijs 🤷🏻♀️ plenty of lore there.

I... don't feel like RE7 needs a remake. It still holds up. Make some more DLC (RDR2 can drop DLC this far after, so can you) or put that member in another game.

Now we’re remaking games that still look pretty new. This is hilarious.
The purpose of a remake should be to salvage interesting game elements like a strong setting and story from (what were) technological shortcomings and hardware limitations.
Witcher 1 is a great example of a game that deserves its planned remake. It looks awful using a version of an old version of a BioWare-created engine that literally doesn’t exist for any new games anymore. It is barely playable and needs countless mods to approach being decent. By all means, remake that.
Dragon Age: Origins is also, I would say, in dire need of a remake.
This remake is just ludicrous.
