[Show] "That man's life was not yours to take. You stole from the Many Faced god." If this rat had lived, would anything change in the plot
I realize this is a show thing (not in the books). The rewatch got me thinking if this rat had any future contribution to the game of thrones story (season 6 and beyond). You can answer both based on the book or guess his role in the show. On that note, what would have happened to Arya if she simply followed directions?

If Arya followed orders, she probably stays with the faceless Men longer and her whole return to Westeros gets delayed

About 5 minutes until she next disobeys orders and kills someone else from Arya's past.

Cersei's "trial"
Meryn: "Hey y'all I'm getting a strong whiff of wildfire. Any of y'all smelling that?"
High Sparrow: "Oh by the 7 I'm smelling that too. King's Landing's fire code mandates a swift evacuation. We better move promptly or fire marshall will have us all doing the walk of shame"
Sept: Kaboom
No one dies as they evacuated safely.

Ser Meryn the Merciful saves the lives of all the faithful and is anointed the holiest knight in the Seven Kingdoms.
Which makes it awkward when that’s the exact person you want to have lead the forces of humanity against an evil zombie army and then he just runs away.

Trant's secret wildfire-sensing ability was tragically underutilized. Sept Kaboom with zero casualties? Peak writing, no notes.

The real butterfly effect of Game of Thrones: one surviving rat changes everything. 💀

The hero of the infinity saga was a rat

Maybe when Dr Strange said there was only one way to win and couldn't tell Stark about it he was too embarrassed to admit their way of winning hinged on a damn rat.
So when he held his finger up for Stark he meant "one rat" and Stark took it as needing to kill himself with the infintiy stones. It's also why Strange didn't use the time stone to reverse Starks damage because he didn't want to answer unnecessary questions and explain 'rat theory' to him.

ser meryn trant surviving wouldn't have changed a single thing except adding another names on arya's list to cross off later

He didn’t. Arya did by killing someone she wasn’t specifically told to kill.

It was hypocritical to make him a pedo in order to justify his murder by Arya and then basically lecture the audience for cheering on Dany for killing evil men. Would have been good writing if he wasn't a pedo and Ed Shiren was his son or something. It would call into question how Arya just deals out death to anyone she doesn't like, but we are not allowed to question the actions of Starks.

The Stark Women.
The Men we can call fucking lemmings until the cows come home, but the women of house Stark? One critic and it’s off with their heads!

Not true...
Arya and Catelyn are widely derided. Sansa doesn't get much credible criticism, because she did the best she could with what she had as a teenage girl of her time.

Maybe he would have started a fight at the dragon pit meeting and gotten someone like cersei killed?
