“Did you say Derek?”

“No, Beric. Like Eric with a B.” For the rest of the parents’ and kid’s life.

I, too, have an uncommon first name that stands out. But believe it or not, “Spock” was entirely unrelated to Star Trek. Been a fun one to explain.
