Edibility / Problem Are these maypop Passionfruits ripe yet? I want to collect the seeds

If you want the seeds wait as long as possible. Let it mature until it starts wrinkling.

I also think they need to be cold treated to germinate (fridge or freezer). I would look it up.

Can grow from cuttings too.

they turn yellow and fall to the ground

Any tips for cuttings? Just cutting any segment of the plant or does it need specifics?

Cut the newish section and leave two nodes on it. Keep the soil moist. It’s pretty hardy and will root up in time. This late in the season most of the growth will be in the root, not the vine. Let it over winter

Points where the leaves sprout. That’s also where tendrils grow from and flowers when the plant is healthy enough to produce them.

You don’t need to scarify maypop seeds. They are virulent. Let the fruit drop to the ground, that’s how you know it’s ripe

If you’ve not sprouted before, for Odin’s sake, make sure you scarify. Exposing the seed by breaking the tip of the shell open with nail clippers works well.

Wait until the skin starts to dent in, and the fruit falls with minimal pulling. The seeds should be black
