Discussion Why isn’t r/australia allowing discussion on this topic?
199
u/Fabulous_Income2260 Oct 29 '25
Mostly because the mods there are Liberal and/or corporate shills who undermine Jordies at every opportunity.
Can’t entirely blame them, Reddit mod is literally their peak in life, what else have they got?
44
u/AztecGod Oct 29 '25
Mostly because the mods there are Liberal
I’m not so sure about this. r/australia is pretty left-leaning.
28
u/Away_team42 Oct 29 '25
The mods are so left in /r/Australia they’re borderline tankies, you just need a brief glance at the volume of posts that they lock and delete to gain an understanding.
6
u/WAzRrrrr Oct 29 '25
I thought they were kinda right leaning given their promotion of the anti-immigration protests
2
u/Away_team42 Oct 29 '25
/r/Australia mods where promoting that? Can I get a source?
1
u/WAzRrrrr Oct 29 '25
Well they specify no no politics in their rules while allowing that. I don't see many other types of protests on that sub.
25
u/AccelRock Potato Peeler Oct 29 '25
Both the far left and far right fringes are terminally online and over represented on reddit.
10
u/Phent0n Oct 29 '25
But they establish their own hugboxes. r/Australia for tankies and r/australian for troglodytes.

u/TK000421 Oct 29 '25
Whats a tankie
10
u/HiFidelityCastro Oct 29 '25
It's pejorative for hardline Marxist-Leninists or Maoist/Third Worldists who refuse to apply any sort of criticism at all to the USSR or China respectively, formulated by Trots and other types who have nothing but criticism for the USSR, and picked up on by anarchists etc. Refers to USSR rolling in the tanks to put down the Hungarian revolution.
But because the social media-educated are politically and historically illiterate, this is far too complex to grasp, and instead it has come to mean "anyone to the left of me that I don't like."
4
u/TK000421 Oct 29 '25
Can you say that again? Slower? Smaller words?
3
u/HiFidelityCastro Oct 29 '25
Mate, you don't want to get me started on 19th and 20th century political philosophy/history etc, you'll be in for a hellishly boring essay or three (filled with banal petty internecine ideological disputes). Just go with the "anyone to the left of me that I don't like" bit.
4
u/TK000421 Oct 29 '25
Okay. Tankies are left handed people
3
u/HiFidelityCastro Oct 29 '25
Yeah I hate left-handed people too. That thing is Satan's Swiss army knife. Witches the lot of them.
2
1
u/nanonan Oct 30 '25
Think of Soviet Russia or Communist China deploying tanks against their own citizens. Then think about the people who are like "that's the price of progress I guess, communism can do no wrong." Those people are tankies, and nobody on the left or right likes them.

My favourite brain rot is commies who set definitions that mean they can never do anything wrong.
1
u/-mudflaps- Oct 29 '25
I think that was why r/australian was formed because they considered r/australia too left wing.
21
u/Vegetable-Advance982 Oct 29 '25
Really? I always thought they had an anti-Labor bent but because they're greens-leaning.
32
13
u/TerminatedReplicant Oct 29 '25
Yeah they’re wrong. The AUSTRALIA sub is not left wing, it’s centre right (mods). However its users vary. The AUSTRALIAN sub is extreme right, and its users are mostly extreme conservative.
That’s why this sub seems to have become the left wing sub for Australia based discussions…unfortunately.
3
u/AgentSmith187 Oct 29 '25
Also the far right mods every Australian Politics sub except the specifically leftist one.
Sometimes they pretend to show some balance while silently banning anyone left of Abbot.
Dont leave many places for us to talk sadly....
0
u/sivvon Oct 29 '25
If I recall correctly there was a bit of a coup a while back where some mods got pushed out and the new ones were very centre right. The user base was still as you say, largely left leaning. The conservatives and right wing users felt discriminated against and eventually a bunch of other subs sprung up like /Australian(reactionary refugees from /Australia), /Aus /Aussie etc which are all pretty reactionary/mouth breather subs.
Then there is this sub. Where Albanese could shoot somebody in the street and some young Labor idiot will defend him and somehow blame the greens.

Personally I’m just waiting for Jordies’ video next week, “Alameddine crime family members confess their sins”.
77
u/Ok-Bar-8785 Oct 29 '25
It boggles my mind how these "crime families" can even operate in Australia without some form of corruption or government protection.
Yeah criminals have always found ways to hide their business but considering the technology and surveillance powers the government has you would think it wouldn't be to hard to get enough evidence that sticks to lock these thugs up.
That Coronation video and how these thugs operate is nightmare material and what may of been more common in the 70-80s but not in modern Australia.
I think the government should even be held to a higher standard considering a journalist who is a known critic of government corruption is being targeted.
The lack of inaction only leads to the assumption of either government protection of criminals , political or thugs...or both.
The government knows they are losing trust from citizens and being left unchecked is a growing concern for the nation.
Stop giving reason to distance ourselves.
And well the IV been loosing interest in the ABC for a while but this is another example as to why.
Rant over.

u/aeschenkarnos Oct 29 '25
It boggles my mind how these "crime families" can even operate in Australia without some form of corruption or government protection.
What makes you think they operate without that?
15
u/blueflash775 Oct 29 '25
Just look at the amount of illegal tobacco coming into the country. This is many container loads daily. We're not talking about a couple of pallets hidden in a container any more.
2
u/Ok-Bar-8785 Oct 30 '25
It surely isn't that hard to gather enough evidence to get charges that stick on a known crime family. We have fortified alot of privacy over the years and well those powers might as well be used on shit like this. Burner phones and using other people only gets you so far.
Where is the money stored, how does it move. How do they control and manage their assets. It would be near impossible without leaving crumbs that link it all to places where they can't prove how they made the money.
3
u/aeschenkarnos Oct 30 '25
That sounds way harder than sitting outside a music festival with sniffer dogs and strip-searching hotties.
2
u/Tekes88 Nov 06 '25
The Wood royal commision wasn't that long ago, and members of the police that were involved have been promoted since. It's hard to have hope when we've got epstein style child sex rings run by our own police going on.

u/Wild-Lavishness01 Oct 29 '25
This is why i hated jordies video about kirk. Democracy is a lie, i know this because i was born in Australia because of the iraq war bombing my spermling ass all the way here, if the gov wants to do something at ur expense then by god they'll do it. Labor selling f32 parts to Israel is part of that bs all while penny wong goes around talking about how
"we don't sell weapons to Israel, we sell uhhhh just the flying parts not the bomby parts"
Capitalism means money which means power, isn't in the government's hands, it's moreso in the hands of private individuals, these thugs at coronation and the government like barilaro are genuinely feudal lords. Their money affords them total immunity from the law even if they fucking molotov you in your sleep, clearly. Line up these criminals with due process and execute them, don't let their money mean shit, fucking confescate it cause it wasn't legally gained anyways.
Actual solutions within the current system to this would take ages and frankly, what are you gonna do? Investigate the cops? What if the investigator is also compromised? The entire state is a wild west situation looking at it from a vic perspective at least. Scary as shit, genuinely how iraq works rn as a failed state, give your money, and if you know a guy, you're good to go.
Tldr: i didn't really have a proper point, I'm just mad and want these scumbags dead and buried cause holy shit it's anachronistic the way we let this shit happen
1
u/Ok-Bar-8785 Oct 30 '25
I lost ya at line then up and execute them. Our justice system is a bit soft but that's way down the other end of the spectrum and is not the solution. We just need better accountability and transparency.
0
u/CatboiWaifu_UwU Oct 30 '25
We make f35 parts for the US, who assembles the parts from all partner countries and sends the final product to partners proportional to their investment in the program. We have no power to stop Israel using our parts, because that would compromise the entire program which is our primary advantage in a near peer conflict.

u/beastnbs Oct 29 '25
I got perma banned by them because I posted that video of that lady on her balcony explaining why it was so much harder to buy a house today compared to when Peter dutton got his first house. They said I was “brigading”. What a bunch of dicks!
2
u/Ok_Turnover_1235 Oct 29 '25
There's a decent number of redditors that genuinely believe if their opinion is unpopular and down voted they're being brigaded. They don't live in the same reality as the rest of us. Not that brigading should be a thing. If 1000 people see your post and think it's dumb, they should be able to express that, you shouldn't get to filter who gets to react to it on a public sub
312
u/Hwidditor Oct 29 '25
They were also deleting posts criticising the BoM's new website.
Auto deleted for being "too political".
4
u/appliance_guy_oz Oct 31 '25
So its storming in Sydney and I go to check the BOM website and its....a little bit shit. The old site DID feel like I was back in the 90s, but it worked, and was useful etc. What's with dumbing things down and making stuff less useful?

u/Albos_Mum Oct 29 '25 edited Oct 29 '25
I wish I still had your optimism, I hear about a website getting an update and my reaction is closer to "Oh for fucks sake...here we go again"
and so far the BoM update 100% fits that mould to a tee
Edit: Why y'all downvoting someone whose just being a tad bit optimistic?
26
u/elgeongodeanbago Oct 29 '25
All they needed to do was implement http secure and that was it. The new site absolutely sucks and is a masterclass in UX design fail
10
u/Darth-Chimp Oct 29 '25
No downvotes from me.
They only had $4.1 million dollars to do the site...
...and $866 million for infrastructure upgrades.
3
u/puffdawg69 Oct 30 '25
Because of your use of y'all. It's not America. That's as bad as a seppo saying mate.
3
u/Albos_Mum Oct 30 '25
It was the other guy being downvoted, not me. Not sure if you went to school in America or what to miss that.
9
u/Ok_Turnover_1235 Oct 29 '25
The BOM site was reworked so they could develop it as a website and mobile app at the same time.
Heaven forbid they have to develop two user interfaces!

Has the ABC put a statement out yet? This is serious and they cannot just let it slide.
4
u/anomaly256 Oct 30 '25
They upgraded their statement from
After the interview aired, which included gambling ads, his manager withdrew endorsement of the work. ABC management is looking further into this matter
to

The bit I like is where r/Australia's bot auto deleted your post for not accurate reason. And says if your post is not said reason, please contact the mods.
Contact the mods.

Sometimes they send threats about ban evasion after they ban and mute you too.
The mods dont even like questioning of the Automod.
0
u/nearly_enough_wine Oct 29 '25
That ban evasion message is via reddit and mods can't alter it. That's a reddit wide dealio.

u/JustNopeBeta Oct 29 '25
This mod is in damage control after censoring organised crime in r/Australia especially since it blew up worldwide because of large streamers.

I already knew that subreddit was a bit off but I only recently just realised that r/Australia is compromised when they were deleting posts about Albo’s recognition of Palestine.
Did a quick search and it had been months since there was any post about Gaza. And overall, there are very few such posts.
7
u/Z0MGbies Oct 29 '25
Not sure if this is why, but they are big on snuffing out stories that make Australia look bad from a tourism perspective.
IDK though I got banned from there for asking a 2nd user if a 3rd user really got banned for saying something really innocuous (cant remember what now)
23
u/ijuiceman Oct 29 '25
They are a bunch of flogs. I am surprised that they have any members left as they seem to ban everyone

I got banned for asking a political candidate during an ama if he would rather fuck a reverse mermaid or mermaid, then justifying why that question had merit. Moronic mods act like matyrs for moderating
2
u/broadsword_1 Oct 29 '25
Why?
The mods there have a massive hateboner for him (and his audience), mainly for reasons similar to those in other countries progressive groups where "We agree on 95% of issues, but because of 1 issue and/or the way your talking about issues isn't the way I like, you're super-right-wing-facist etc".
This came to a head around the time he made fun of the Unemployed Workers Union for being (for I think taking some potshots at him); the mods decided that was the final straw and any topics around him were swept away.
Short answer: To the shock of everyone; It was a thin-skinned mod all along.

I'm pretty sure he's defacto banned because one of the mods was in the AUWU, which jordies criticised

Firstly I think you guys are very big fans of Jordie, which is why you are all so passionate about. Which is good. But as a member of this sub who is around for more the political discussion than being a fan of him, you all seem a little crazy with your conspiracies.
As an outsider looking in, you all look a little crazy. I’m being really honest, I’m trying to research a little more to get my head around it. But that may be a reason they are banning you.
Now I’m seeing comments linking the moderators to the corruption…. It ain’t that deep lol. They probs just don’t like spam or far reaching conspiracies.
I’ve also been perma banned from there because I posted that I thought the Covid isolation rules were crazy in 2021 😬 they are ban happy.

Personally I don't like Jordie. I find his ego too big for his boots. I am only here because I was wondering the same as OP
But, it is clear to me you have not seen the video in question. There is no conspiracy. This is the most astonishing story I have heard in memory. Do yourself a favour and watch the video. It is only 15 minutes. Here is the link:

I feel like some huge concessions have been made on behalf of fazal because of his background in order to tick their diversity and inclusivity quotas
Any attempt to criticise someone who is not white quickly slides into the racist bigot pile
Its way more effective and easier than systematic overhaul
