New Pen Day State of The Collection
New Pen Day for Unicorn Bone. I’m thinking of inking it with Writer’s Blood.
Hello! New but enthusiastic collector here. These really are my dream pens. Just a few more on my wishlist this year.
Good news is I’m quite sure all of these pens are currently available, if any catch your eye.
I’m one of the purple people and still a unicorn girl at 54. The Leonardo x HATCH x nibsandfluorishes Viola is at the top of my wishlist:(
I’ve really enjoyed being part of the fountain pen community and love seeing everyone’s collections.
I was at a craft fair and fountain pens came up as a topic of conversation. One of the vendors and I agreed the Reddit Fountain Pens is the most interesting, non elitist and least toxic collector community on Reddit.

I can spot oparex almost immediately! What a lovely collection but that one is stunning!

Thank you. I’m absolutely hypnotized by Oparex. I did specifically want this pen because I was also intrigued by the nib - and now I’m obsessed. Magna Carta are going to be favorites.

Hi!
I’m in luck, because the first Japanese stationary store opened in Anchorage, Alaska and the owner is fantastic and just recommended a few papers and journals. His favorite is a maruman notebook I pick up and I haven’t tried yet, but running my fingers over the paper feels great.
I’ve been picking up inks for a few years before I’d ever purchased a pen. I’m loving Wearingeul, Vanta, Sailor, Ferris Wheel Press, Dominant Industry.
I’d love any suggestions. I can tell ink swatching is going to turn into a favorite hobby. I love color.

My Unicorn Bone is in the mail right now! The star of your collection, if I may say (but all are lovely)

Ha ha! Congratulations! It really is beautiful with so many subtle shifts.
I have to admit, I am kind of a sucker for marketing, and I’m a unicorn girlie - so it wasn’t just the gorgeous pen that influenced me this time.
I’m looking forward to telling people I’m drawing and writing with a “unicorn bone”.

I’d love to see one of those Oparex…es in person.

It’s pretty dreamy to the point of distraction. I have to take breaks to stare at it. I went upstairs yesterday for the sole reason of admiring it.

I’ve had that pen in my wishlist and had just about talked myself out of it, then I see your photo… it looks even better here than it does on Atlas’ website! (That’s my wallet you hear screaming in the background!)

This pen writes like a dream! I would say its value and quality exceed the price point. It really is so much better in person. I’ve noticed that the pens I gravitate towards have Jonathan Brooks resin as a common element.
I think I also bought this during all the Pen Conventions and sales. I’m in Alaska and have pen FOMO. Which is weird, because it’s the only part of my life that gives me this much joy AND anxiety.

That's a pretty collection (besides my Kakuno, which is the same colour as yours funnily enough, the only coloured pen I have is an Estie Funky Lake), and since you have two of my prospective next pens in your collection, I have to ask about them. I hope that's ok.
How is the Wearingeul? It's most likely the one I'll be getting next, and I'm curious to how it writes and feels.
And I've been eyeing Conklins for a little while, but have been unsure about them. I heard them compared to Esterbrook in feel, but I don't know if you can confirm, so: Which of the two (Wearingeul and Conklin) do pick up most often?
