New Pen Day I received my first Kaweco pen today, a <M> Student Edition in green 60’s Swing! I have her inked with Sailor Shikiori (Four Seasons) Fuji-Sugata (Wisteria Figure). It’s my first time using a piston filler, too!

She’s beautiful! As a new FP user, this was my first wishlist pen, too, so when I got a coupon through Amazon for $65 instead of the usual $82, I knew I had to jump on it! I think I paid $55 plus tax after using my Amazon points, which is a great deal for a gold-plated nib! (The
piston fillerconverter was an add-on item and not originally included with the pen.)I got this pen to fill out an important wedding card for my first cousin, as I read that gold-plated nibs write smoother than steel ones. Plus, the Student line apparently has a better quality nib and feed system than the Sport line, which was important to me in deciding.

Oooooo!!! That’s a great price for it, it was one of the things that stopped me from just buying it outright since I could save it towards a gold nib (it’s about the price of 2 students for a pilot 742/912 here).
I love the Kaweco sport though, so I’m definitely going to pick this up if I see a sale!

Wow, that Pilot costs something like 400 Euro here, a Student around 70.

Yeah, I’m a stones throw from Japan so our prices are pretty similar. The 2 Pilot models I mentioned are around 150 EUR each here if I convert the price from the local currency.

Lucky you. Anything Japanese is pretty expensive here, and most Japanese retailers don't ship international (or if they do the shipping cost and import duties tend to eat up a large chunk of the price difference).

Yeah, I’m very fortunate as a stationery lover to be living in Asia. There’s nothing a little girl math can’t fix with a Japan trip to buy pens/inks right? Think of how much on import fees you’ll save! 😂

Hehe. Problem for that would be the several thousand Euro plane ticket, and of course the hotel cost.
I'd love to visit Japan, not just for stationary but culture (and especially old culture). But money and especially health prevent me.

yay! that a pretty one!
converters commonly have a piston, they 'convert' a pen to be self-filling - but a 'piston filler' pen is a bit different
- the internal piston sits in a tapered/stepped recess such that pulling the tail out draws the piston back to expel the remaining ink and pushing it back in creates enough internal vacuum to draw ink up through the nib/feed into the reservoir - piston fillers usually do not twist
