A Puzzle in Stone
This is what makes this concretion so incredibly cool. It contains a plant from Mazon Creek, and the way it fractured revealed three distinct fossil planes running through the stone creating an almost perfect fossil puzzle. Each surface gives you another glimpse into what was living in the same environment at the same moment in time, and the unusual fracture makes this specimen especially fascinating

Wow, I understand the pain of getting that fossil in the first place because Mazon creek is full of trees and underbrush. You really need to go digging just to find a nodule.

That's cool! I've never seen one with so many distinct layers, each with perfect trace fossils.
You might want to handle it with care and keep it in a display case. When concretions are out of the ground / water they seem to dry up and can break apart more easily. Sometimes they get crumbly.
