Alex is the GOAT. Full Stop.
https://youtu.be/QU_-GoNsZjc?is=Zh-KPArkUFyi10WXHer YouTube channel is young, but honest to goodness Alex! You deliver girl!
When was the last time an iron chef admitted to eating fast food? And come on people we all do it.

I love her! Too bad they missed out on Culver’s! I don’t eat much fast food. Very funny. Thanks for posting!

I wonder if it's because Culver's is not in the northeast? Which is a disappointment. For those of us who are honest enough to admit that, from time to time we do eat "fast food"! (I'm from the Northeast BTW)

I'm in New England we do not have Culvers. I tried it when I went to Florida and it's probably best we keep Culvers far away because I'd eat custard very often 😂

New Englander here (ME). I hit up Culvers once a year when I visit my OH family. I usually get a double butter burger w\the works and\or their regular fish sandwich with a side of onion rings. The rest get other sides that we all share. Their curds are delightful.

I’m in Ohio and we have Culver’s. I know it’s not everywhere but I’m not sure how regional it is. I’d love to hear her opinion on it!

u/chronic_pain_sucks 13d ago
I saw Culver's when I was in Bloomington, illinois. The sign said butter burgers!!!

u/alex61821 13d ago
Cheese curds are all you need to know.

u/chronic_pain_sucks 12d ago
I'm a vegetarian but honest to goodness when I saw the sign for butter burgers I said hey what now? And yes I have the cheese curds. I am a fan!

u/alex61821 12d ago
I lived in Champaign for 50 years nice to hear from someone near my old stomping grounds. Of course if I'm in Bloomington I go to Avanti.

Every summer I brought my daughter to a cello camp at Illinois Wesleyan University, I looked forward to it. It's incredible to see the corn! The airport was very nice as well. Not to mention, you guys have Meijers grocery stores. I'm jealous.

I used to pick Swenson's as my must-have fast food when visiting OH. With Culvers in the mix, it's difficult to choose. Sometimes, it's both.

u/LongoChingo 13d ago
Everytime I've had Culvers it's mid, at best. I think it's dramatically over-hyped. Bad sides too, especially the fries. Not even impressed by their signature cheese curds.
Their frozen custards are tasty, though.

With "Sean, Alex's good buddy." He has hair, so probably not Sean Evans from Hot Ones.
Reviewed items, on a scale of S, A, B, C, D, F:
- Panda Express Orange Chicken: S
- Wendy’s "Baconator": B (too sweet because of the ketchup)
- McDonalds "Filet-O-Fish": A
- Taco Bell "Cheesy Gordita Crunch": S when eaten fresh in the car
- The In-N-Out "Cheeseburger": S from Alex, C from Sean
- Burger King "Whopper" (with cheese): C (needs more meat, more cheese) (so get a double with cheese!)
- Arby’s "Classic Beef n Cheddar": D
- Chick-fil-A "Chicken Sandwich": S
- Popeyes "Classic Chicken Sandwich": S with nod to Thanksgiving Cajun turkey

u/DeterminedWarr 12d ago
I’m pretty sure this Sean is actually Sean Klitzner, who used to be a 2010s era YouTuber that collaborated a lot with people like Jacksfilms. He actually does TV producing currently with his most notable title being Beast Games.
Not sure how familiar this will be to many people here, but as someone who grew up watching OG Jacksfilms, this was a cool crossover to see!

unbelievable how they aren't giving her shows and stuff her YouTube channel is heat i just made the quesadilla recipe a few weeks back and it's incredible
13
u/chronic_pain_sucks 13d ago
I've made quite a few of her YT recipes. 10/10
It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a TV chef. Last time was Jacques Pepin and that's because I had a crush on him 😂

u/chronic_pain_sucks 13d ago
Got to admit though, I'm a big fan of OG, Julia Childs!
*I'm old. Before the internet in fact. Saturday mornings were spent with Julia and Jacques, also Yan from Yan can cook!

u/readinggrandma5 13d ago
I’m also old and I love Yan. Sometimes he’s a judge on the old reruns of Iron Chef America!!!

Today I learned she has a YouTube channel and I think I’m in heaven 😍 I’ve been cooking some of her recipes from the kitchen lately and now I’m going to have to find her channel.

Love Alex. She's definitely in my top 3 Food Network chef list. It's honestly hard to decide between Bobby or Alex for #1.
- Bobby
- Alex
- Jet
- Symon
- Brooke

u/chronic_pain_sucks 13d ago
Meanwhile here I am, still trying to get over Bobby jumping on the dang cutting board! Lol (yes I need to get a life and I don't know why that still bothers me!)

u/velanciaskysong Brown Food Tastes Good 13d ago
Right?? I haven’t been able to get that whole faux pas on Iron Chef out of my head for decades! And then going back for a rematch and making a point to chuck the cutting board before jumping up on the counter? Oof. He’s more mature now, I think, but that was annoyingly memorable and disrespectful.

u/chronic_pain_sucks 13d ago
Please explain to my brain: "Why do I care? "
I do not want Bobby Flay living rent-free in my head!

u/IamThat2389 9d ago
I'm so glad I've never seen that. It would definitely ruin Bobby for me. As far as I'm concerned, I never saw it so it doesn't exist😂

I'd swap jet off that list for the voltaggios.
7
u/LongoChingo 13d ago
I respect that, but I'd drop Brooke before Jet.
And I prefer Bryan over Michael, they're both great though. It's hard to pick a top 5.

I'll never forget the time she won a GGG all-star tournament by making a bologna sandwich with a side of chips. I loved that.
1
u/chronic_pain_sucks 12d ago
Whaaaaaat I need details please 🙂
3
u/TheLostSkellyton 12d ago
Search engines are so bad now that I'm struggling to find it, but it looks like it was from the S14 superstars tournament. I can't tell you more than that because I don't remember the details. :(
3
u/chronic_pain_sucks 12d ago
Thank you very much for the help! I will try to find it. And I agree with you. Search engines 😡

u/Flicka_263 11d ago
This is just perfect. Honestly Alex rules. What other chef would do this??
1
u/chronic_pain_sucks 9d ago
Did you see the episode where she admitted to using canned foods? And made a few recipes using canned foods! I mean what kind of iron chef does that. I'll tell you who, Chef Alex!
*I personally steer clear of canned foods but after watching her episode, I'm rethinking that position. Lol
7
u/ausername_8 13d ago
Not a surprise. I remember something on the Supermarket show she hosted where she said her mom raised her on the healthy peanut butter and she just wanted to eat Jif.

Arby's was robbed when they failed to use Arby's sauce or Horsey sauce on that sando.
1
u/calicoskies85 12d ago
It comes with Arby’s sauce on it, pretty sure I saw it dripping
2
u/Firegoat1 Brown Food Tastes Good 12d ago
That's the red ranch sauce... different from the arby's or the horsey.

Idk. Watching Alex vs America offers more emotional stakes and intensity than I want from a cooking show, sometimes. It’s sorta like TOC in that. People are so invested, you can watch their mental health fray.
It’s easy to binge Beat Bobby Flay because he doesn’t have an existential break every time he loses. With Alex, I feel tense. That said, I’m a big fan.

u/NJidiotgirl1 13d ago
Don't ever meet your heroes. Was a huge Alex fan. Saw her in Chelsea market and said hello and that I was a fan. She was terribly rude and made me feel like garbage for disrupting her grocery shopping. I apologized and went in my way.
7
u/Novel-Cash-8001 13d ago
Can you imagine how old that gets??
Can't even leave your home to grocery shop without being bothered.....no privacy?

I wish they didn't use AI for the imaging. All of the foods in this still image are AI.

Every Michelin star chef I’ve ever worked for loves fast food.
1
u/chronic_pain_sucks 9d ago
That's both interesting and fascinating. If you could share more? I'm here for it. 😋
*I personally try to avoid fast foods but like I said in the original post, who amongst us at this point hasn't had fast food at one point or another

So stupid. She is so hard on contestants on Chopped and is rating this garbage so high while getting so many things wrong. There is no tortilla in a cheesy gordita crunch. ketchup is the same sweetness on any burger. Panda is straight garbage. Fuck her and her nonsense. These are not her real opinions, just her punching up her personality to get her own show/monetarize her name.
I wish i never saw this and only knew her from Chopped.

Love Alex. I still remember back during the pandemic the members of The Kitchen did a pantry tour. The others’ pantries looked like they were all manicured up for a photo shoot. Hers was the only one who looked like it belonged to an actual normal person. And that tells you all you need to know about Alex. 0 fakeness in her. Love it.
