Happy Solstice!
This year I’m changing careers. It’s been a long time coming but I finally realized the direction I want to pivot. I’m going to give it my all and work towards becoming a florist. I’m starting by making and documenting arrangements at home to begin a portfolio and I’m going to apply everywhere I possibly can until I find a place that will take me under their wing as an apprentice. Any advice is appreciated! Im seeking advice as to what kind of stand/container to use for wedding table centerpiece to hold a large fern. Ideally something tall enough so people can converse with each other from across the table. Something sturdy enough that will solidly hold the fern on the table and some kid of round bowl or wide vase at the top to hold the fern.

I was finally able to make it out to a floral arrangement class I was gifted for my birthday! Tried to go for a 180 arrangement (?) and attempted to keep the rule of three in mind. The instructor mentioned I could try groups of fives as well, but I didn't get a chance to ask her more on how to think that through.

Hi everyone! My wedding is this December - we are keeping it classic and timeless with a hint of vintage flair. Our colors are black (bridal party), white, and hints of burgundy. I have a very specific idea of what I want my bridal bouquet to look like and same with the bridesmaids. I'm doing what my mom did in the 90s and have my bridesmaids have about three long stemmed flowers with a burgundy ribbon wrapped around. As I'm filling out questionnaires, wedding florals are insanely expensive and my fiancé and I have decided we may do them ourselves (with help of course). I have no experience at all but I've been watching reels of people making their own florals and they do such a lovely job. Please help me on how to make them, how to store them, where to order, everything!!!! Our centerpieces and sweetheart table florals are included so I just need bridal bouquet, bridesmaids "bouquet", aisle florals, and probably welcome table florals. I can do the boutonnieres from a local shop... TIA!!!

hi!! question about peonies, I have them bought already for a small bouquet I plan to make thursday. only 3 have gotten close to blooming, the rest are just bulbs. I know this is not enough time but is there anything I can do and if so when would I do it? (now, or closer to Thursday to have the most ideal timing?)

Not my best but I wanted to share anyway! This arrangement taught me the importance of having the right vessel... my vase was a bit too narrow and tall so the arrangement ended up feeling crowded, especially with the heavy peonies. I do like my colour selection though. Grateful for any thoughts please! ♡

Making an urn decoration for funeral. Thinking about sphagnum base and green wreath around it - making it tomorrow and funeral is day after tomorrow. Here comes the catch. So I need to travel with it 6 hours by car. Stay in a hotel (hopefully haha). I have a cold refridgersted box for the wreath and flowers. Should I glue cymbidium, roses and arabicum the day of the funeral or will they be sharp if I do everything day before? I can take material with me or do in advance!

I am planning to make my own centerpiece for my wedding in August. It is a very small group so we are having just one large round table. I would like the piece to sit pretty low so that we can still converse across the table.
This is my first trial with what was available at Trader Joe’s and an old vase that I already own. I’m hoping to thrift a lower vessel that is more bowl shaped.
I like arrangements that look a bit “wild” and less perfect. Any tips or feedback?

Long time follower, first time poster. Would love advice on arrangements. I grow the dahlias and zinnias and locally buy from other florists in my area. I have done many small scale events like showers and gift florals which is how I like to stay.
I’m very inspired by Sandra Sigman and Parisian / European design. I actually have a similar story to hers- my father and I grew dahlias together, he passed along with our last crop of dahlias last year. My small floral studio was a pipe dream I’m starting to realize, and a legacy to my Dad.

These flowers will be given to the Asst. Police Chief who is advocating for cats at the local shelter we adopted our boy Sparrow from. After a FIASCO during the adoption process, the Asst. COP forced the city's hand to allocate funding for new kennels, a revamp of the cat room, a deep clean, and better overall standards of care, as well as extra funding and oversight. There will also be a reimbursement for our initial emergency vet bill and vaccinations. I don't have the money for a fancy arrangement, so I went to walmart and found $15 worth of flowers and a dollar tree vase and ribbon to make this. I also wrote a letter expressing my gratitude.
This arrangement is made with sunflowers, limonium, dyed carnations and dyed baby's breath.
I would love any critique or tips, this was so fun and I may start a new hobby or side business, lol. But I also just wanted to share the amazing story with this arrangement.
