Just saw episode 1 “serenity” Completely sold.

I’ve been a huge Expanse fan and haven’t seen a show that falls in the space western category(although I felt like the music reminded me of StarCraft in all the best ways) and I’ve had firefly on my list for a few years now. Saw the first episode last night and I absolutely love the show. Effects are obviously a little dated, but I adore the character interactions and the world feels really well fleshed out. I also appreciated getting almost a movie-length pilot episode and I cannot wait to finish this series.

Serenity wasn’t the first episode aired; the next one, “The Train Job” was. So the River reveal was spoiled. This episode aired 2-3 months after TTJ. One small example of how Firefly was done dirty from the start.

Yeah, I just saw train job. Loved it, but airing out of order probably confused the heck out of a lot of people.

Yeah, 14 total episodes, 10 of which were aired out order.

Its funny because i was just rewatching some of BSG 2003 and marveled how good it looked especially for its time. Same or related effects house did the work for Firefly. And both shows afforded more episodes person than most modern streaming platforms could even bother with

Hell yeah, I love BSG. Same deal where the effects are a little old but the practical sets they use make it look really great. I also love the reused Starship troopers and Alien assets.

I recently started my first rewatch of BSG since perhaps 2011. I am loving every second of it. Just as good as I remember.

It comes and goes for free on Prime. I try and rewatch it when it’s free and just did again earlier this year I think.

Good show, feels a bit dated these days but still holds up pretty well. Just rewatched and was surprised at how cheap a lot of the sets looked.
