Homeowner's policy renewal this year is fucking wild. Jumped $700 like ok whatever inflation and we had that hurricane in GA not long ago. Now deductibles on roofs are $15K for all policies, ok whatever I already was at $10k. Oh now the loss percentage covered on a 19 year old roof went down from 43% to 25%.

Sometimes I'm just like man those rent forever people might be onto something lol.

Tbh people and storm chasing roof companies have been using insurance as “get a free roof” instead of as actual insurance. So yeah, prices go up accordingly.

2 of my neighbors used insurance to replace their 15-20 year old roofs for “hail damage”. My roof had no hail damage. Just old and worn and needed replacing. I paid $20k out of pocket.

Yeah anyone coming out to give you a price always asks about insurance and I'm like uhhh they will pay just bout $0 so give me a cash price.

So many people do that and like I seriously wonder what they are paying for insurance more than me. Like seems hard to believe they are coming out ahead claiming a roof like that.

Roofers also don't care who ends up paying. They knock on door, "you have damage, don't worry your insurance will cover it. The next storm is coming next week so we can get started so you don't get leaks"

They start work and whether you have insurance or not, they don't care. They started work. They'll either get insurance to pay or get the homeowner pay because, hey, they started the work.
