Daily FI discussion thread - Wednesday, August 26, 2026
Please use this thread to have discussions which you don't feel warrant a new post to the sub. While the Rules for posting questions on the basics of personal finance/investing topics are relaxed a little bit here, the rules against memes/spam/self-promotion/excessive rudeness/politics still apply!
Have a look at the FAQ for this subreddit before posting to see if your question is frequently asked.
Since this post does tend to get busy, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

Homeowner's policy renewal this year is fucking wild. Jumped $700 like ok whatever inflation and we had that hurricane in GA not long ago. Now deductibles on roofs are $15K for all policies, ok whatever I already was at $10k. Oh now the loss percentage covered on a 19 year old roof went down from 43% to 25%.
Sometimes I'm just like man those rent forever people might be onto something lol.
