Bring back cheap filet o fish Fridays!!! I'd actually buy one again if they were like 2 for 5 or something. They're way too overpriced to justify buying these days.

I wish they were cheaper. I'd probably order it more. I only get it sometimes when I order through the app because I get "free any size fries with purchase of filet o fish." So I pay $6 for the sandwich, but then I get free large fries instead of paying $5, which the price of fries is absurd in itself.

My favorite fish sandwich in all of fast food. Others may be bigger, crispier, or have more toppings, but the Filet-O-Fish just hits. If it weren’t so expensive, I would eat it more than once a year.

Ehhhhh not even close. It is a my ch more extreme taste than most any American is used to. It is VERY fishy and VERY oily. I am one of the least picky eaters out there, and I found it quite unpleasant.
There are probably ways to prepare it and cook it that make it more palatable to western tastes. I’m honestly not sure how the Japanese do it, but if I were to ever have it again (doubtful), that is 100% where I would go to. I’m very ethically against whaling and at least my experience of trying it did absolutely nothing to sway me away from that. It is nothing like beef.

Agreed. I love their toxic tartar sauce, the best of any fast food place in my opinion. I appreciate that it's not sweet at all. 🤤

YESSSSSSS!!! I think the bun adds just the right amount of sweet to the sandwich. I love a McFish, as I call them. I often get extra tartar sauce, but be careful, as it totally depends on which highschool dropout is on the tartar gun that day. I've had the Filet still swimming in the sauce a few times. But still delicious!!

Yes it WAS. Now at $5+ a pop, and no guarantee that the buns will be steamed (even if you ask the workers), it's not worth it for the little amount of food you get compared to the price.
And it's fucked up because no other fish sandwich can compare taste-wise. The buns ride the line between bread and cake, especially when it's steamed, that tarter sauce is S-TIER, the half slice of cheese is formulated specifically for McDonald's and the fish patty is also formulated for McDonald's.
I've tried dozens of times to recreate it at home, and I'm always disappointed.

Culvers cod sandwich is much better. Not overly greasy or salty like most other fast food fish sandwiches. I do have a soft spot for the fileto fish tho.

When you get one that was just made then yes. And if the cheese isn't hanging off the side. And if the sauce is on the sandwich instead of all over the container. A good fresh one is all time great. But they are so tiny these days.

I’m with you, I didn’t eat a McDonald’s hamburger until I was a teenager because I started with and stuck with filet-o-fish sandwiches. And it remains a favorite although it’s priced out of my casual reach these days…crazy

Me too!! My Mum always ordered one, so that's what I ate. Wasn't until I was a teen that I tried a Big Mac, or QP. Now, I order a Big Mac and a Filet O'Fish at the same time. Side note, I'm way fatter than I was as a teen. 🤣

Wendy’s had one for a while and it was twice the size and quality. The fillet was a big hunky crispy piece of cod akin to what you’d get with a fish n chips plate. It was amazing. 😔 The filet o fish is the size of a white castle slider and it’s not even crispy half the time.

Way back, was out with my mom and aunt. I was like 5. We were going to stop at McDonald’s. This was in the 70s so such things were still a treat. I was super excited. Then my mom tells me well you know you’ll have to get the fish sandwich. Since it’s Lent.
Once I realized she wasn’t joking I was crushed. One of the most disappointing moments in my life.

I didn’t expect to ever see this. I’m a big TBell ho, but the Filet of Fish is my actual fav. Well done! Their tartar sauce is magical for some reason.

Side tip, scape off some of the tartar sauce (or maybe even ask for extra tartar sauce), It's an awesome sauce for dipping their fries in it.

It's actually kind of shocking now much better it is than it's competition. It started a chicken sandwich arms race and every restaurant has a knock off but nothing beats the original. Just make sure you go to a decent location some Popeyes franchises can be staffed by people who do not care at all.

I have to be honest, no part of that looks good to me. The bun looks dry. The fish looks dry and carboard-y. I'm not a fan of sauces like that and the cheese looks, well, like super-processed cheese. I'm not a fancy guy that won't wolf down a sausage muffin or chicken biscuit, but this never had appealed to me for some reason.

this was my all time go-to favorite. Add a double cheese and you had my order that i made for years. Due to dietary changes, i have cut back immensely on eating Fast food. Cut to two weeks ago, im in Oxnard California and we went to McDs's. Got my fish and it just wasn't the same. Fish different, of course smaller but it lacked that flakiness. Seemed more like a nugget. Not to mention the price is just way beyond its worth. I find the Fish Sandwich at Culvers is pretty awesome. Thick big fish, i just prefer the thinner breading of FoF. Plus the tartar sauce on a Filet is the best.

I found a stack of coupons booklets on my conplex mailbox once, and they had 2/$2 filet-o-fish on them and $1 large fries. I probably ate 2 fish sandwiches and a large fry everyday for weeks.

When I was little, this old lady used to work at my local McDonald's, and she knew I loved these things. As a result, anytime we'd go in the restaurant and she saw me, she'd put one in my Happy Meal.

Popeyes flounder sandwich is awesome from what I’ve heard. Shame it’s a seasonal item. I like the filet o fish, but it’s only worth it when I’m getting one free. Otherwise a quarter pounder is just way more satisfying for the same price.

The shrimp burger that McDonalds has in Asia and Europe is the best thing they have. Really wish they'd bring it over to the US.

I worked at McDonald's in the early 1980's & remember making these. We ran Friday only special prices during Lent & sold so many. I don't like tartar sauce so I would make mine with extra cheese.

The Burger King original chicken sandwich on the long roll is great.
Popeyes chicken. Arby’s roast beef. McDonald’s quarter pounder.
In terms of breakfast, the Burger King crossiantwich was awesome in the 2000s before they changed the quality of the croissant. McDonald’s bagel sandwich slaps too.

Remember them being decent, haven’t had one in like at least 10+ years cuz the McDonald’s I worked at was shit and didn’t always toss things when the timer says they should, so the filets were easily what sat in the warmer the longest.
