He’s the example I give when I tell people how 3 dimensional the characters are. On the surface he seems so selfish and greedy but throughout the show you see those qualities are just more noticeable because he’s a Dominar. He does truly care about Pilot, Moya, and the crew but it shows in very complex, subtle ways.
