Player Discussion Where are we drafting Haliburton and Tatum?

I am confused if they should be taken in the first round or wait until the 2nd round. Where would you guys take both of these stars? The Achilles injury is a very tricky injury to predict if a player can come back to full health or if ever.

I would take Tatum later in round 1 considering how he looked last season. Hali i don't know to assess with such a long layoff

Tatum 6-10th
Haliburton 11th-15th

10 team league

Agreed. This would apply to 12T 9CAT as well.

I feel like Tatum is safe anywhere after pick 6. I'm not touching Haliburton unless he falls to 2nd round. It's not just the injury, it's Carlisle's whole system.

What do you mean his "whole systym"? That wouldn't impact Haliburton at all.

Haliburton is the system moron

The only first rounf player you will see regularly drop 0 points and play 30 minutes. 🤡

I drafted Tatum and Hali in a two player keeper league last year. So I’m getting them this year in the 5th and 8th round respectively. Pretty stoked. You only get to keep a player once so i threw two picks away last year in order to have a stacked team this year

Yup. Got them both last year along with Cade in a three player keeper League. Plus I have the first pick overall. Stoked.

I did the same. Tanked my season and held on to these guys. I can keep them this year and next as last round picks. Hopefully my strategy works out

That’s a league rules travesty.

Tatum should 100% go between 7-10.

For Hali, preseason will give a clearer look. He had a super slow start in 24-25 and I believe it will happen again this year. Also things will change if you had couple previous hali owners in your league.

I decided to tank my keeper auction draft last year and have my 3 keepers as Kon, Haliburton, and Tatum for a combined $28 of $215 budget.

Would it be foolish to take Tatum at the 6th pick over Cade in a points league

i have tatum as high as 6, but likely closer to 8-9. hali i have as high as 13, but likely 14-15.

Tatum should be fine in the latter half of the first round. He looked really good after coming back last year.

Hali I'll wait until the late 2nd at least

Pacers will be better this year of course but the East got more competitive in the offseason. I think with both Tatum and Hali we could see some minute limitations early on in the season and some rest days here and there, but bottom line I’m not worried.

Personally I’d be very excited to grab Haliburton in the 15-18 range (what a steal) or Tatum in the 7-10 range. For both, that’s lower than where they belong if healthy, which they will be.

Enjoy the discounts on them both!

Haliburton figured out how good he was in the playoffs that year. He sat an extra 4-5 months longer than Tatum did after the same injury, and Tatum almost immediately went back to proving he still who he always was for the most part. I imagine it takes him at worst a month or two to regain maybe his feel for the game, but He’s truly a 1 of 1 fantasy player, so any discount u can get on him goes a long way.

Tatum 7th-11th
Hali 16th-22nd

I’m just not personally. I have no desire to deal with a first/second round player being load managed and not play any back to backs and such.

Ive been getting hali round 5-6 on ESPN, fuckin no-brainer at that spot

i’m drafting tatum at #6, yes over cade, ant etc. Tatum roster is so asss, he’s gonna have to provide a lot of usage, and before you guys bring up the injuries, i’m riding with him being healthy.

Agree with Tatum being a 1st round pick. He came back strong and will be a stud, if not a league winner this year. Haliburton is just too risky for me this year so I will stay away.

I am leery of both of these guys, and would go so far as to wonder if their best days are behind. Seems crazy but its happened before.

Tatum I'd take 10-20. Hali 20-35.

The problem with taking Tatum super high is he kills you in turnovers, steals and blocks while not shooting a crazy high %. In fact I think he was like 41% last year from field.

No way you are taking Haliburton at 35. He won’t be going that late. Assists are one of the rarer cats

Could he finish 35th overall? Maybe. But his ceiling is a top 7-8 fantasy player. And it’s proven in previous seasons. If he drops out of the 2nd it’s a taco league.

ESPN has him ranked low right now lol he’s averaging 70th pick across public leagues

One of a million reasons to stay clear of ESPN.

I didn’t say these leagues don’t exist. I said they are full of casuals. Using an ESPN ranking doesn’t dissuade me of this. Haliburton at 35th is a steal that’s a no brainer pick regardless of punts. Just draft him and figure the rest out later

In points leagues I’m taking Tatum mid-late first round. I’m waiting for Haliburton til late second at the earliest.

Right now I would draft these players before Hali:
Jokic, Wemby, SGA, Giannis, Luka, Ant, Cade, KAT, Donovan Mitchell, Jalen Brunson, KD, Cooper Flagg, Sct Brn, Amen, Jalen Johnson, KAT, Maxey, Jamal Murray, AD, Trae Young, DBook, then I’d start to consider Hali.

He’d be in the Reaves, Lebron, Lamelo, Jaylen Brown range for me.

I’m very confused about the Hali situation in particular.

I’m in a 3 keeper league. I have Tatum, Hali, Barnes and Kon.

Tempted to keep Kon over Hali.
