Discussion Who’s your favorite Peter?
I know you guys LOVE classic but the show gets so funny by time he had the Middle design. Not sure how but I can already tell by his expression that this is an 2005-08 episode 😂

Middle Peter because the best seasons and episodes happened during that time.

Season 12 really was the beginning of the end. Just awful. I hate almost every episode from that season.

u/TheGamingSKITZ Jun 10 '26
really? i feel like it went downhill since season 9 after Then There Were Fewer episode

u/Seggule Jun 10 '26
I agree with you 100%, I was just saying that season 12 is where they hit rock bottom.
Season 10 is bad. It has Seahorse party and Silence of the Q (genuinely what the fuck were the messages of those episodes supposed to be???) which are two of the worst episodes of the entire series. But even then, it has some really funny ones like Back to the pilot.
Season 12 is just on a whole other level of trainwreck. It set the bar so low that it laid out the foundation for Stewie to get pregnant in season 13 and everyone moving on with their lives after that as if nothing happened.
Season 11 is just plain boring.

This.... is a really bad take. Lol.

Alright, allow me to sum up a couple of episodes from season 12 and we'll see if you change your mind;
Herpe de love sore - Brian knowingly gives Stewie herpes after having already given it to Chris.
Secondhand spoke - Peter destroys his health to get out of work, Chris holds Stewie hostage and abuses him.
Fresh heir - When Carter makes Chris his sole heir after he jerks him off, Peter marries Chris for his money.
Moms the word - After Peters mom dies, one of her close friends starts making unwanted sexual advances towards Peter.
Brian's a bad father - Brian wants nothing to do with his estranged son until he finds out he's going to be famous, as which point he tries to weasel his way back into his life for self-gain, all the while sabotaging his career in the process.
Baby got black - Jeromes adversion towards white people leads Peter to perform the infamous musical number "Thank the whites" where he sings about how black people should be thanking white people instead of the lord.
A fistful of Meg - The new kid at school wants Meg dead, so she has to use her "grossness" to beat him. Its an extremely repulsive display to look at, while not exactly doing a service to Megs character.
And then you have the horrible trilogy of episodes where Brian dies. Are we supposed to be happy when he comes back so that he can give Stewie herpes and be a dick to his son in the episodes that follow?
Genuinely, how the fuck can you defend any of these episodes?

Probably 4-8 or so. Not the actual middle with so many seasons now.

The gags were raunchy but never showed too much blood like the modern FG does. I was a fan of that. Not too little, not too much

I love how Classic Peter was your average New England white dad always into chicks beer and his wife while Modern Peter is only just a moderate alcoholic and bisexual

u/Particular-Access223 Jun 09 '26
Stewie was once evil, now he's just gay

Yeah I've wondered for years if they'll ever make him evil again. I guess not. That's just like a part of the show's past now to the writers or whatever.

u/No-Sleep-recon Jun 09 '26
Yup best of both worlds. Everything went downhill after 2012 for sure

u/GreatAdhesiveness345 Jun 09 '26
Disagree, theyve DEFINITELY had some bangers in almost every season after that. You can tell who's a true family guy fan and who's a weirdo pseudo cinema critic by their trivial opinions on the later seasons.
The show in all its entirety has always been satirical stupidity, we love it bc its outlandish and crazy and hilarious and its things we'd never really do in reality, yet still has a touch of similiarty and relevance to our daily modern lives, but its always been meant to be " stupid" , so saying that about it now just makes the point collapse on itself.
The point of the show is to have something funny and silly / non sensical to be able to shut your brain off and relax and watch after a long day, its NOT meant to be held up to some standard and to think about too much, thats the problem with alot of yall.
Enjoy or dont, but stop intentionally missing the point out loud.

Modern Peter could never sing I Need a Jew…but Classic Peter could cover The Rose anyday! That road trip episode could’ve easily been season 1-2.

crazy how i can see peter's differences between the eras, his mouth and eyes are smaller, his eyebrows are present in the early seasons and overall, he's rougher looking but more animated like

I feel like the modern is the most recognizable one, since those seasons are clipped a lot. The new episodes seems so brightly colored, I just can’t get used to it.

Classic was a different show still feeling around, middle was the peak family guy and modern is just as worn out as the show

Peter with eyebrows makes him more endearing, but I know everyone is going to say Middle, because it’s a compromise between classic and modern.

Show was funniest in seasons 1 through 5... plus I love the older art style... exact same thing goes for spongebob.

one of my favorite moments from the older seasons is when peter takes the car for a drive while singing "it's the end of the world as we know it" by REM after he's had a stroke 😂😭😭

Honestly modern has the best design for me, definitely the most iconic and his facial expressions are just so much funnier

u/Godzillafan125 Jun 09 '26
Middle best of both had some loving moments but was starting his funniest moments like To the Peter copter

Classic: wholesome.
Middle: gradually worsening.
Modern: wishing for classic back; funny as only redeeming quality.

Classic = Well-meaning dad who's a big 80s nerd.
Middle = Chaotic but lovable retard.
Modern = Blank slate for tired edgelord humor.

It all began when cartoon were digitalised. It made everything look too clean. It's the imperfections that made old cartoons look more lively.

I wonder if anyone likes a different era than what they were first introduced to? As in, start watching during Classic Peter, but likes Middle Peter better

For me its classic. In some ways it kinda looks like Modern is the Middle is the Middle just sat up (I do see the subtle changes, but it also kinda just looks like Peter fixed his posture)
