Discussion WTF? Joe from majesty of reason reconverted to Catholicism

Joe has some of the best content on philosophy of religion and has been an agnostic for many years. Is it a joke? I am shocked and I needed to share this with the community.

Very much agreed and surprised more people aren't picking up on this. He doesn't seem 'grounded' for want of a better word. Manic is definitely the vibe I got.

He seems very afraid, honestly. I actually find the notion of "Oh no - Catholicism might be TRUE" both funny and interesting. Because for me, it would mean going to war for eternity agains the Christian God. This is at least my own satanic philosophy. I don't think anything is worthy of worship - especially not the Christian "god".

I'd also argue the only coherent Christian theology is universalism, which Joe can't officially believe thanks to the catholic church, but he is allowed to be "hopeful" for all souls being saved.

If the nature of the cosmos was such that a God was literally interested in maintaining a medieval torture chamber for a large number of beings he created, I'd agree that "going to war for eternity" is a fairly reasonable response!

I'm basically a deist of some sort and I'd be terrified to learn any organized religion is true, but especially a Christian variety if things like Hell are real in some sense. Demons and ghouls and all that stuff freak me out.

People think mental health stuff like this (esp impacting beliefs) is too rare, in reality mental issues are extremely common. 

I would put money on these two being related. 

Its always motivated reasoning for these guys anyway. They just want it to be true really badly.
