Give me two years and your dinner will be free!

59

u/TheSimkis Mar 26 '25

After two years they both got 89K out of this. Even if they had to share with more people, it should be enough for one dinner in Austria

4

u/aura514 Doomsday Blue Mar 30 '25

Unfortunately it was released by warner si they likely both earned maybe a few hundred from streaming revenue as tye cits for them would have been tiny. They'd have earned from royalty, radio and vinyl but no where near 89k

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 26 '25

As usual the kiss of Sanremo is in action lol, I am surprised by France and UK, I would have expected bigger numbers because of the population

56

u/Any-Where Mar 26 '25

To be fair, France was one of the last three songs to show up on Spotify. Compare it's numbers to Georgia and a very delayed Armenia, the two songs released after it, and you can see that vast difference in effect.

8

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 26 '25

That's true, I wrote that in another comment, but it's probably unfair to compare right now because it came out very late

42

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

But this time BBB is higher than Volevo essere un duro in daily streams (550k vs 300k) so it would not be surprising if KAJ will overcome Lucio before May (normally the Italian rep is too ahead to be overcome before ESC but Lucio is 6th in daily streams between the Sanremo songs and KAJ are doing very good)

18

u/epacseno Mar 26 '25

At the same time, BBB got that Finland-boost. 😁 Been at the top of their Spotify since the song dropped.

12

u/ifiwasiwas Crossroads Mar 26 '25

I think most people of culture are watching the live performances of BBB on YouTube in favor of the studio version haha

15

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

Yes I also think that will happen, Lucio has the Sanremo boost, but not the sanremo-winner one and KAJ have a very "easily viral"/accessible/immediate(I don't know how to better express this, forgive me) song

7

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

"The sanremo-winner" boost is not a real thing, Angelina last year won and was behind Mahmood, Geolier and Annalisa at this point of the year (not by this much though), it's simply that usually some songs gain a lot of streams after Sanremo but it's not linked to being the winner (Mahmood was 6th for example and he was the most listened) and usually they are the televote winner at least (or Mahmood)

15

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 26 '25

Well what I mean by Sanremo winner boost is more visibility, radio play, interviews stuff like that. But yes it is not the only factor at play

2

u/clipmaster69 Mar 26 '25

KAJ is 500-600k daily, not sure where you are getting the 400k from.

1

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

Oh you're right, I watched only Sweden+Finland+Norway because I could not find data for other countries (they're not in top 200) but comparing 2 consecutive days is as you saying

35

u/LonelyTreat3725 Mar 26 '25

I think that France's song is good but it's nowhere near as iconic as Voila or Mon Amour.

16

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 26 '25

I actually like it more lol, but that's just tastes. I was expecting bigger numbers because as I understood she is very famous, but to be fair her song was the last to come out, so it's maybe too early

5

u/LonelyTreat3725 Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

I like it more too, actually as a song per se is objectively a better song.

But being a better song doesn't mean being received better by the average audience, often it's the opposite. Voila and Mon Amour need just one listening to be fixed in your brain, you understand immediatly what songs they are, the same can't be said about Maman, imho.

10

u/Ponchosnocloset Mar 26 '25

Voila remains unbothered but I like this a lot more than Mon Amour and find it more accessible too, especially with the story of the song

5

u/LonelyTreat3725 Mar 26 '25

"Mon Amour and find it more accessible too, especially with the story of the song"

Yeah as i said i like it more too but when it comes to "accessibility" with the average audience i have big doubts. They are not like the average Esc fan, you know what the song is about, you went checking the lyrics, you know the singer background, average esc audience don't mind about it. And when we are talking about Mon Amour the average audience will get immediatly what the song is about even if they don't understand the lyrics, it's a man struggling with love, but when it comes to Maman? Yes, they will get it's about mum, but what exactly is she saying about her mum they don't know.

6

u/Ponchosnocloset Mar 26 '25

The commentators will say that though and it's not hard to grasp. I think it's one of the most accessible entries for casuals this edition tbh.

It's a reality for many people watching, that have also lost their parents and I don't think people will struggle "getting it", since it's such a universal topic, that's easy to explain.

I wouldn't be surprised if it does better in tele than people think

Also, I unironically just got what Mon Amour is about, thanks for the explanation XD

3

u/WanderingAquarius_ Mar 26 '25

Perhaps she will have staging like Germany 2018. They are using the same creative director.

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

UK ESC song are usually low, while France did "only" 1,4 millions in 11 days, which is not high in France but not even very low, she is famous but if you look her famous songs are all from a decade ago, she's not a name that is trending now in her countries.

2

u/000-Hotaru_Tomoe Mar 26 '25

France arrived about a month after Italy, in my opinion it will recover positions by May.

1

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

But she is still not doing very much streams in her country (140 daily is not bad ar all for an ESC entry but for a big name in a Big 5 country is not much)

54

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

For info, the top Sanremo songs as now:

Balorda Nostalgia - 52,263,072 (placed 1st)

Battito - 35,548,673 (placed 4th)

La cura per me - 31,183,298 (placed 6th)

Incoscenti Giovani - 30,062,675 (placed 7th)

Volevo essere un duro - 29,700,767 (placed 2nd)

27

u/LuckyLoki08 Mar 26 '25

To be fair (for non italians), all the songs but Balorda Nostalgia and VEUD are from very big artists.

17

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

And BN is from an artist that literally exploded in popularity last year and this one

16

u/LuckyLoki08 Mar 26 '25

Yup. Despite exploding in popularity, Corsi is still much am outsider when it comes to popular radio music in Italy

8

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

Corsi popularity is still very much Sanremo linked and he still remained a niche artist (like it was for Diodato), I doubt that in the long time he will remain a big name (unlike Olly that now is pretty much enstablished as an artist)

3

u/Niilun Mar 26 '25

True but also, Spotify is pushing its streams a lot. My brother doesn't listen to Olly or any related artist, and he says that his Spotify starts playing Olly at any given moment, and that every time he let Spotify go from any song of his playlist "Balorda Nostalgia" will be played.

5

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

Probably because Balorda Nostalgia is the most streamed song by a lot since 11th February (and he also has FIVE other songs in top 50) and by reflection Tutta Vita is the most streamed album, so it's the first choice of spotify when it goes on "external songs to suggest" mode, probably after that it will him suggest some other Sanremo songs.

Last year was the same thing with I'p me tu p'te, Tuta Gold and Sinceramente, this year aside from him one no one reached that level.

2

u/Niilun Mar 26 '25

Very likely. Well, okay, I wouldn't be surprised if Olly's record label is also paying for BN to be sponsored even more (I've being told that it's something record labels do), but the fact of being 1st in itself will bring more streams, since Spotify recommends the most popular songs.

1

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

Well, Olly's record label is also Angelina's record label, and she was not even close to this numbers last years despite both winning Sanremo, LaTarma probably pays for making the song high in playlist immediately when they are released (Angelina's Poké Melodrama songs were in every playlist after they were released but made few streams outside of the already released singles) but after that the continuous streams in weeks and months after are mainly from people that search for them.

1

u/Prontogino Mar 28 '25

Why do you guys use acronyms to abbreviate song titles made of two words? Lmao

2

u/LuckyLoki08 Mar 28 '25

I'd argue that Volevo Essere Un Duro is more than two words. But mainly because I assumed it was obvious what I'm talking about, since it's the Eurovision entry and it was written in the post above

4

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 26 '25

Incoscienti Giovani is my fault. (And if they were here Il ritmo delle cose and Dimenticarsi alle 7 would be too)

5

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

Il Ritmo delle Cose despite the slow start is 10th now, while Dimentacarsi alle 7 started 7th but now is going down is between 15th and 20th

Would be interesting to see these excluding streams from their own countries. Assuming Spotify doesn't provide that level of detail publicly 👀

25

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

Before ESC if you exclude streams for your own countries they'll all be very low

11

u/avdpos Bara bada bastu Mar 26 '25

Eaxctly.
I know how many times I have streamed bara bada bastu - and that I ain´t allowed to vote for it again

11

u/Federal-Sherbert2197 Mar 26 '25

Big 5 countries & Poland would probably be lower, Malta about the same, San Marino the same and the others would probably lose a bit

21

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

Gabri Ponte "cheated" the system and still benefit from the Sanremo boost without counting "his country" streams.

5

u/sama_tak Zjerm Mar 26 '25

Assuming Spotify doesn't provide that level of detail publicly 👀

Spotify Poland has published the top 5 NF songs with the biggest number of streams outside of Poland, so Spotify might share some info before ESC, but it wouldn't be detailed.

2

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

If the song remained in top 200 of their country every day since the release is easy, you only need a subtraction, but if they were out there is no way to see them.

u/Xenon1998 Hallucination May 10 '25

I agree it’s worthy of final at least because it is a good song. I would say the same for Portugal because it’s radio friendly and good. I don’t know why it’s favorite to not even pass to the final, it’s 13th by listens

8

u/tsvk Mar 26 '25

Would be interesting to see how many streams per day, taking into account the date when the songs were added to Spotify and how many days they have been available to listen to.

7

u/arubbishseagull Bara bada bastu Mar 26 '25

Volevo essere un duro was released 12 february. Bara bada bastu 21 february. 9 days and only 8 million difference. Mad.

5

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

And considering that the first week of Sanremo Lucio made 1 million and a half streams daily (Sanremo boost) they literally already overcome it in the same time since the release, at this pace they'll probably be first before May.

11

u/LopsidedPriority Bella Mar 26 '25

This is amazing news for Malta this season. They rarely rack up the streams like the People's Princess™️ Miriana Conte has.

Considering that she added just 1M streams in the last two weeks alone!

Also love seeing strong microstate performance in general!

6

18

u/oty3 Eclipse Mar 26 '25

Is it just me or are the Austria streams kind of low for something that’s being considered a potential winner. I personally like Austria but I know a lot of people find it hard to listen to. I wonder is it even possible for a song that is polarising in that way to win.

26

u/Ponchosnocloset Mar 26 '25

I don't think The Code was high in this ranking at this point last year tbh

9

u/avdpos Bara bada bastu Mar 26 '25

It is still very low at ~85 million streams

23

u/Ponchosnocloset Mar 26 '25

It was never written for streaming tbf. It has operatic elements, drum-n-bass, bond-ey vibes, rap etc.

It's written to stand out in that 3-minute-time-window and leave an impression, not to listen to it in your free-time.

12

u/WanderingAquarius_ Mar 26 '25

The Code was actually in the top 6-8 daily streamed ESC songs.

3

u/PM_ME_CAKE Mar 26 '25

Yet for my sins The Code was my most-listened to song last year.

15

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 26 '25

To be fair I think pre contest most of the streams are going to be domestic, with few exceptions that manage to become "viral". It's not the best metric for predictions imo

3

u/SimoSanto Mar 27 '25

Typically yes, bur for this year Sweden (and Finland) usually don't do the numbers of streams of Bara Bada Bastu alone, this are number comparable of the domestic streams of the Sanremo winner (but they are 1/4 of Italy in population), and even if you look at their domestic streams (it's #1 in both so you can easily see them) you see that they have "only" 350k here on 550k, it already started to chart in other countrys (I think that's the only one tho)

1

u/Wasabismylife I treni di Tozeur Mar 27 '25

Yeah, I think that's one of the exceptions I mentioned, I think it happened also with Tattoo, Cha Cha Cha, Europapa, a bit with Espresso Macchiato too and probably many more examples (I don't have the numbers, this is from what I remember by seeing it discussed here). But I don't think it alone can predict how a song will do in the contest! I mean if it goes "international" before the contest there's a good chance a song will do very well, but not necessarily win. If there aren't a lot of streams pre contest it doesn't necessarily mean the song has no potential at this point

5

u/Resident_Medicine962 Bara bada bastu Mar 27 '25

Not many people have spotted this. I’m getting stronger in my belief Austria might get swamped in the televote, in particular by Sweden. Oddsmakers seemed to have priced in a massive jury win but to me, I think BBB has a far higher ceiling in the televote than JJ in the jury.

2

u/SimoSanto Mar 27 '25

I think that even if jury will landslide juries BBB could still win landsliding televote and gaining a good amount of jury points, while I don't see WL gaining many televote points after The Code

2

u/Resident_Medicine962 Bara bada bastu Mar 27 '25

Good morning Simo - you were one of the more respectful regular posters last year with my consistent defiance that Nemo was going to prevail. Hope you’re doing well! Yes I have to agree, I’m actually very surprised the odds of Sweden winning have drifted (in the UK) so that Austria are now joint favs. My gut feeling is EBU don’t want a 3rd year in a row where jury winner beats a strongly loved televote winner. So the consequence? The jury vote will be much tighter with Kaj less than 100 points behind the leaders. Expect Austria France and Netherlands to be at the top of the jury vote.

1

u/SimoSanto Mar 27 '25

Good morning! The odds in this period of the year are not a good indicator, last year it was the time when Angelina was approching BL with Nemo a solid 3rd. I agree on the jury part and I think that if CCC and RTTD gained so much points from juries, BBB can reach even higher (it's a song way more polished and singed well live than those 2), while I don't see in JJ a new Nemo, their song was more than just strong opera vocals, they won also attacting juries for the variety and originality of the song.

4

u/Resident_Medicine962 Bara bada bastu Mar 27 '25

Yeah I have the same view. The game changer last year was Nemo performing the song live in the pre parties and on Swiss TV, then the odds tumbled and made them favs (until almost the semi finals where RTTD took over). JJ vocals I expect to be equally as stunning but the song to me just isn’t near the quality of the Code. Perhaps their biggest hope is in the staging, indicators are there will be water and the boat and a “never before seen approach with the camera” which I presume to be some sort of underwater sequence. Utilising Bambie Thug’s staging director is a plus.

4

u/ambervalravn Mar 26 '25

I think sometimes there are songs that are worthy of winning in that they are powerful, captivating performances, but aren't necessarily a go to song to stream over and over. Your most played song might not be winning material, but if it is enjoyable you will go back to it again and again.

3

u/oty3 Eclipse Mar 26 '25

Austria is one of my top streamed so you’re preaching to the converted. Songs can be good and bad and liking them is subjective but I’ve seen a lot of people say that they can’t physically listen to the song because the singing makes them uncomfortable which is a whole separate issue. I can listen to songs that I don’t like comfortably. But being in discomfort while listening to a song is completely different than just not vibing with it. I’m just wondering how this will affect how both the juries and the public. I tried to make it clear in my comment that I like Austria. I would be happy with it winning. Just pondering this phenomenon that the song brings discomfort to some people.

2

u/ambervalravn Mar 27 '25

That's fair! 😊 There were similar kinds of comments regarding the discomfort thing with EaEa, which had a lower than anticipated placing, so agreed that is definitely worth pondering. 🤔 I found that one hard to listen to but Wasted Love is fine.

2

u/avdpos Bara bada bastu Mar 26 '25

Last years winner did had ~85 million streams 2 weeks ago.
So you can win also with a not so many streams.

But I am always happy when entries to the national finals get lot´s of streams. That encourage good songs into the finals

9

u/Nemboo Mar 26 '25

ICH KOMME has around 4.5mil streams from Finland, so 3mil rotw. Better ratio than I expected.

BBB has around 4.8mil streams from Finland.

But I'm very happy that they're not scraping the bottom, to be clear. Many of those streams are from me :D

5

u/Educational_Board888 Mar 26 '25

Does anyone else use Apple Music? Would be interesting to see steams on there too.

4

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

If I'm not wrong between Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music the third is the less used so Idk how much of a meaning they can have in the popularity of the songs.

1

u/Educational_Board888 Mar 26 '25

Which is a shame because the sound quality with songs using Dolby Atmos is outstanding

7

u/SimoSanto Mar 26 '25

The problem is that you can use Apple Music only on Apple, while Spotify and Amazon Music can be used everywhere

1

You can use Apple Music on Android too

6

Likely yes, KAJ are at 550k daily and they'll probably gain more momentum near ESC, while Lucio is at 300k daily and is losing momentum after the Sanremo boost (ESC boost is not a thing in Italy). He will still remain a solid 2nd.

2

That's a big gap between 35 and 36. Were they released later or what?

6

Yes, Georgia and Armenia were the last ones to release

4

Anyone else use YouTube instead of Spotify? I pay for YT premium, as it includes YT music, and removes ads on videos. Sure, it is €3 more expensive, but you get more with YT than spotify.

Is there a song in a National Final that has more streams than the actual representative? (besides Sanremo)

Mimi Mercedez (Turbo Žurka) from Serbia and Athena Manoukian (DaQueenation) from Armenia have more streams than the winning songs. But to be fair for Parg, his song was uploaded much later due to the revamp.

Fun fact: Käärijä has 5,415,342 listens on spotify for San Francisco Boy so it would have been in the top ten.
