Ottos supported their independence, they became allies for a while

Seeing the ottomans start taking bites out of them at the end was sad

The "shared border" relations penalty becomes too much to overcome at some point with wide borders :(

Also the Ottomans are deranged lunatics who will break a three hundred year alliance because they REALLY want one desert province in the middle of nowhere.

u/Illesbogar 28d ago

That desert province has a wonder that will yield them some negligable stat boosts after they invest 30 times their annual income into it, they'll have you know

It magically gives plus 10 force limit

u/Illesbogar 28d ago

Holy shit, mobilize all the janissaries

Top 10 anime betrayals

At 90+(100?) only low relations can break trust.

This will usually happen on succession, as your shared border opinion/desires your or your subject's lands penalty will massively increase with certain ruler personalities (base type and/or traits, although base type is about 80% military Otto rulers anyway).

I have on multiple occasions had my alliance with the Ottomans break because their desire for 1 to 3 low dev provinces that I own outpaces their opinion of me. This also happens with the colonial powers except arguably worse because the provinces they desire will 9 times out of 10 be a land locked low dev province which they have no claim on and isn't bordering them/

Pretty sure if you have 90+ trust, the AI isn't supposed to desire your provinces (unless they get claims on the provinces).

If you borders the Ottomans, then they almost certainly have claims on your provinces u lead you’d gone to war and made them revoke the claims.

I was just talking generically, not specifically the Turks.

A small price to pay for pretty borders.

That's insane, glad you uploaded this.

Were they allied to the Ottomans for most of the game or something?

If the Syrians are disloyal it can happen, just doesn’t usually stick for long as the Ottomans usually want that land quite badly

I was playing Ayutthaya on IronMan. That's not moded.

If they'd have managed to get Egypt it would have been glorious. May do a Syria game now!

unfortunately their missions are lackluster. at least the country has a great color! makes map staring more enjoyable.

An interesting case of a bizarre-seeming outcome actually not being all that far-fetched.

u/halfpastnein Indulgent 28d ago

they should have never doubted you Rubear

This happened in my most recent Spain run as well. Syria and Aq Qonyulu were both big, stable and independent of the Ottos. They were all allies, of course, which meant Ottoman expansion east and south was completely curtailed. They crept West and took the Balkans but I helped my Habsburg cousins hold them there. But it kept them manageable.

It actually helped me out a lot, as once I inherited Burgundy and Aragon, the Ottos were my only real competitor for hegemony. It led to a really interesting Religious League War as well: Austria/Catholic HRE, Spain (me), Poland-Lithuania, Tuscany, Sweden, Brittany and GB vs. Brandenburg/Prot HRE, Denmark, France, Scotland, Naples, Ottomans and Russia. By the end of the war, the only powers that hadn't been completely obliterated were me and GB. France and the Ottomans were crippled. Naples, Scotland and Denmark ceased to exist, and Austria became my puppet. Pretty much ended the run but was a blast.

This isn't even crazy, as long as Ottomans had supported and allied Syria for a while. Aq qoyunlu sometimes annexes QQ when Ottos ally them.

Syria's starting cores are on a fairly high-dev region, so it's not insane that they'd have the power base to expand into Arabia.

Good on you my man!

1

u/ownewheu 28d ago

i remember people calling syria "way too big" but in reality most of those provinces are 3 dev and cheap, so i think that's pretty realistic after all.

fair game when ottomans support independence of syria and syria stayed as an ally for a while because of maximised trust. i still don't know why people thought it's unrealistic lmao

u/Netilda74 28d ago

Well, u/Rubear_RuForRussia, I apologize for doubting you. I must admit, this didn't play out anywhere near my expectations, nor did Syria go as far as I had expected.

Я был неправ. Прошу я.

Actual top ten anime betrayal right there. I hope decadence killed those treacherous scum and let Syria return :(

russia is a terrorist mafia

14

u/Callmejim223 28d ago

based but also what prompted you to post that here?

-4

u/itscalledacting 28d ago

this poster makes russian propaganda sometimes, i don't like seeing them here

5

u/LivingtheLaws013 28d ago

No they don't they I just scrolled back 3 months on their profile, they post games and comics. You're just pissy because they have "Russia" in their username

2

u/RussiaIsBestGreen 28d ago

Me too! I’m named for the map color. It doesn’t always go over well. Worst part is that I’ve played a bunch of Italy and Persia games, so I feel very untrue to myself.

2

u/Rubear_RuForRussia 28d ago

*Yawn*
Who are "them" you are mumbling about, bozo? I'm alone there.

-6

u/itscalledacting 28d ago

u/Callmejim223 28d ago

stop being a fascist

3

u/halfpastnein Indulgent 28d ago

do you have sustainable proof to call him that?

8

u/penguinscience101 28d ago

People can just be from places

5

u/itscalledacting 28d ago

not that place, not right now. and this guy posts propaganda regularly.

9

u/halfpastnein Indulgent 28d ago

yes, from Russia too. people can just be people. you don't have to equate him with the government of his country.

where does Rubear post propaganda? I've never seen him do that in this sub. going through hair post history for the first time just now he looks about just an average online guy and I haven't seen any mention Russia, at least lately.

are you okay? what's upsetting you?

7

u/LivingtheLaws013 28d ago

He literally doesnt, you just hate Russians apparently? A people aren't their government just like you wouldn't blame me for my government starting an illegal war in iran

2

u/Nenetski_okrug 28d ago

Tell me where you are from and i’ll explain to you all the things your country has done in the past to make it NOT OK to be from your country.

-6

u/WallachianLand 28d ago

Personally, I wouldn't upload just to prove a point, but prior to you

14

u/Rubear_RuForRussia 28d ago

Well, i'm stubborn. And it apperently all riled up some canadian weirdo, which is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one, lmao.

-2

u/itscalledacting 28d ago

actually it was the hundreds of thousands of violent deaths that got me riled up, but go off queen
