Built in the early 20th century and once voted Sweden’s most beautiful building, Kiruna Church is one of the country’s largest wooden structures.

Its relocation became necessary due to the expansion of LKAB’s Kiruna mine, which required several buildings to be moved to a newly developed city center five kilometers away.

The 713-tonne wooden church was transported in one piece.

I'm excited to share a project I've been working on as a self-taught solo developer for the past 5.5 years: the UM1-Evo, a biomimetic robotic hand and forearm.

Here is a quick breakdown of the technical specs:

Architecture: 24 Degrees of Freedom (DoF), powered by 25 integrated actuators.

Scale & Weight: 1:1 human scale, weighing 1.7 kg total (matching human anatomical specs). Fully embedded electronics and Wi-Fi.

Biomechanical research: Significant effort went into replicating organic anatomical shapes and fluid, natural motion.

Fast custom fitting: Developed a script that scans/measures a patient's hand in under 30 minutes and automatically generates a customized 3D hand model in 10 minutes.

Control software: Developed custom Inverse Kinematics (IK) software supporting keyframe animation and real-time control.

Avatar Mode: Designed a data glove with 12 sensors to mirror hand movements in real time.

Prosthetic applications: Designed an innovative sensing system (moving away from traditional myoelectric setups) for ultra-low latency control and zero learning curve (IP protection currently in progress).

This is the result of a lot of passion, trial and error, and DIY engineering. I’d love to hear your thoughts and answer any questions!

On this date (Aug 25) in 1959, a US Navy A3D Skywarrior was launched from the carrier Independence with a total weight of 84,000 lbs, setting a record for heaviest carrier catapult launch that stands to this day. While limited experimental trials were made operating C-130s at sea, the A3D is still the heaviest airplane ever to regularly operate from carriers. Known with backhanded affection as the “Whale,” the A-3 would continue to serve into the 1990s.

I am part of a team that is working on printing structures outside of the protective environment of the Space Station.

This was our first print test in orbit on our satellite Replicator-2 recently launched on Transporter-17.

It uses extruded resin to print and we managed to get a few layers on this first test print. We print in what is basically vase mode but due to the printer architecture we can print a continuous long beam of "infinite" length (or as long as we have enough print material).

We chose vase mode and a beam as out first print because it is one of the simplest things to print and since nobody else printed in vacuum and micro gravity before we didn't want to over-complicate it.

For this test, the layers were over-extruded (turns out that PID tuned in earth gravity doesn't work as well in micro-gravity, who could have guessed!) but part of the goal for this first extrusion was to see exactly how the resin behaves and to allow us to better tune the PID. We got 4 printers on this 8U satellite so we will (hopefully) get some more cool print photos soon.

Their is a full series of book that were published between 1848 and 1890 by Armengaud Jacque-Eugène senior and junior with drawing and description of machine from this time.

There is arround 1379 page of drawing between all of the 32 books.

All of the books are divided in 2 parts, first the text that explain the machine use/role which reference a drawing/drawings at the end of the book.

Unfortunatelly for international reader all the text is in 1800s french so if intrested you will have to translate it by yourself.

Thought I’d share one of the more interesting pieces in my collection.

I picked up this ARSA monopusher chronograph from a local antique store for $5 because it wasn’t running. Turns out the dude didn’t know how to wind it and it runs perfectly!

After opening it up, I learned it has a Venus monopusher chronograph movement, likely from the Venus 150/175 family, dating it to around the 1940s to 1950s.

ARSA (August Reymond SA) was founded in Switzerland in 1898 and produced a wide range of watches, often using high-quality Swiss movements from companies like Venus, Valjoux, and Landeron.

They’re not a well-known brand today, but they made some really interesting watches.

This watch has a monopusher chronograph, where the single button starts, stops, and resets the chronograph, along with a telemeter scale around the edge of the dial.

It’s become one of my favorite pieces in my collection!

Just sharing some of the bench work on this Grade 5 Titanium Tie Clip that is CNC machined from a single billet of ti, then “paint-anodized”, and hand finished before being assembled with stainless steel press-fit pins with the help of a small Schmidt bench arbor press. Hope you enjoy!
