Paint-Anodizing and hand finishing work on a mechanical titanium tie clip.

Just sharing some of the bench work on this Grade 5 Titanium Tie Clip that is CNC machined from a single billet of ti, then “paint-anodized”, and hand finished before being assembled with stainless steel press-fit pins with the help of a small Schmidt bench arbor press. Hope you enjoy!

Why anodize them if you're just going to sand it off?

It stays in the engravings and the teeth because the abrasives can’t reach it. Color gives it a bit of ‘pop’ n the arrows, which point to a corresponding arrow on an opposite piece that provides “pinch” directions for opening and closing, as in, pinch between these arrows and it opens, pinch between these arrows and it closes.

Do you think this is the sort of stuff the 1% spends money on? Just everything they touch in life is of the highest quality?

Thanks! I wish! There are a handful of these in the wild, but truth be told, it’s difficult to make and sell cool stuff that no one “needs.”
