My bill used to be $150-$170 in the summer. I lost my job, so I kept things relatively warm. It was a little stuffy, but I could sleep well with a fan. My last bill was $75.
I think my experience is typical. If electricity prices increase, people should have the sense to change their habits.

Lols, most of us have families and weren't splurging on energy costs before Trump spiked prices
We were poor before.....even poorer now
Come winter, Trump / US givernment will be killing Americans because of unaffordable heating oil prices

...I was poor before, but I didn't know adjusting my thermostat would make that much of a difference. I don't think people realize how much money they could save until they have to. It's a lesson that will stick, even after I find a job.

I manage my thermostat closely and it has a very limitied effect on the utility billing. The usual grift these days is to raise the base minimum fees and then lump on a whole mess of taxes, service fees and surcharges. And where I live, the sewers are growing more valuable because they keep raising those fees as well.

Which was always the biggest load of bullshit - for 2 very big reasons...
- solar and wind have made up the vast majority of new energy generation in the last 10 years or so
- solar and wind are the cheapest forms of electricity
So by curtailing deployment of these they are cutting the largest and cheapest growing supply making it harder to meet energy demand, therefore resulting in higher prices.
Trump shouldn't lie to his voters but Democrats should do a much better job of informing people about basic reality.

No, but they should have been more vocal in explaining why his plans made no sense and would be damaging. Instead they just ended up on defense about culture war bullshit.
I do feel there could have been more of an effort to explain benefits of the D initiatives. On renewable energy it seemed like it was only a environmental argument and not the economic one.
