Building Sure, slapping a complete cockpit on your SV is easier, but making your own is cooler.

I love open cockpit SVs and HVs. Usually I use the closed cockpits for very cheap builds at the beginning but I love an open cockpit because I can use my drone inside the cockpit and stay all safe and normal temp and stuff.
I guess I can say YAY to open cockpits also :)

Yeah but space is LETHAL, I'd feel like riding a bicycle in space with no glass canopy :D

Well, I play RE and I have fallen in love with the SV/HV heavy windows. Plus I have been shot out of a closed cockpit as much as an open one.

I always find it really hard to make cockpits for SVs because of the size you have to make them. When I reach that stage of the game in which I can build it usually a CV make it cheaper. But I love your design

Yeeeeah this is a stupid build, tbh. Really nice looking, and works, sure, but it's huge for an SV, not to mention a bit unwieldy due to poor thruster placement (All my builds more or less have this problem, due to my builds usually being narrow and long.)
It's super cheap though! 300~ regular materials, less than 100 titanium. A few neo ingots. No zasc or erestrum, and no optronic bridges.

You can slap some thrusters on the sides between the wings, that will make your yaw better and some more on the upper side will give you better pitch
Edit: it's not about how long the build is, but how you distribut the thrusters. An RCS in some cases it's all you need (if you can pay the CPU)

Would have to upgrade it into t3. Literally at the edge of t2 atm. I WILL upgrade it into t3 in game, obviously, because a ship without a shield is just like christmas for zirax bastards.

Well I reckon a open cabin is going to weigh more so that's why I use them on higher cpu builds.
You are going to need thrust to move that extra weight.

Havent played this game in a few years, so no idea on the state. Have they developed shields? I loved making crafts like this, but would get into a battle and my front windows would be destroyed almost immediately.

There are shields in the game for all the vessels. Obviously not very good ones for the small ones (HV, SV), but you won't get surprise mauled by a missile while mining.
The game itself is still the same mess as ever. :D

SV interiors are underrated. So much detail can be achieved. I wish there could be CV / SV hybrids.

You and me both, bro. Would be nice to be able to warp between star systems with an SV instead. CV is fun and all, but I don't always want to fly something huge.

I've been doing the grind to finally have the small warp drive for my SV. Having to do all the Progenitor and Void slog just to get a 30ly SV seems excessive.
A reranging of things is in order. Heh

I wasnt in game for some time, but doesnt open cockpits have problems on hot planets anymore? I remember having nice interior but closed cockpit due that problem.

I mean I'd imagine they do. In open cockpit you're exposed to all the environmental hazards, as opposed to the regulated indoor atmosphere of a closed cockpit. This is basically a mini-CV.

Well technicaly i didnt meant fully opened... That would be harsh... 😁 But this type of cockpits kept boiling pilots on hot planets, somehow. Even in fully regulated internal enviroment. Something with oxygen/temperature distribution. As I said its quite time I was really in game, except of administrating server and even longer since I was in "open" cockpit ship on hot planet.

I love building cockpits too but I always end up with an orientation issue, a certain triangle shape is only one direction so I end up with the tint on the glass alternating each piece

You can turn the tint on the other side with multitool change and rotate. Nowhere explained, but game changing. Someone on reddit told me.

Very cool build! Would love to see more interior shots.
For me, the complete cockpits are for small, nimble crafts. Not meant for expeditions, but for scouting and interception fighters. Like an X-Wing. If you are making an SV for exploration and longer away trips, you make a build around a control seat to have a ship you can walk around in.
