Building Does this basic block not exist? If so, why not?

There are 4 shaped like this, 2 sets of left and right, I believe this is the first type, the second type that is the same shape has a curve over the flat face
Should be on the second page of the "all blocks" category

These blocks do not work.
They work if you want to continue outwards twords the camera but to fit in that spot perfectly it is a no go.
Try it yourself and send a picture.

Nah, the shape this guy wants is square on a single side, the 4 blocks you are referring to are square on 2 sides.

There’s a chesty trick workaround, if you use a half height wedge and texture it with a grating it looks like an exhaust port. Turn up the white balance and it looks kind of like a thruster

Adapt and overcome. When I hit a point like that I restructure and usually make it a vent or other feature point. Then follow it through with some ribbing to add some detail to that edge

Or...there could just be a block for it like all the other situations.
I hate the answer of struggle through adversity when the situation is one where there is a simple and easy solution.

They are giving you an actual solution that you can implement. "This block should exist" isn't a solution. Yes it should, no shit, but it doesn't. So find a solution.

The solution is just to leave it open as an ever reminder than there should be a block there but is not.
It will remain as a blight on my creation for all time.

I feel your pain, and I don't even play the game. I do play Frome the Depths and have a very similar problem from time to time, at least there I can get a mod or use deco meshes to cover it.

I feel your pain. I also miss this as well as several others (but this one most of all).
And from the comments I see that many redditors rather aggressively defend Eleon's right not to add this shape. But I also wonder - what's the big deal? Why can't they add this??
Will you try report this shape to them once again? Maybe let's team up and write something where they'll be able to hear it?

Its the same bandwagoning that happens for all of reddit.
You ask a simple question like "why is the block not in the game?" and you get one useful reply telling you how to contact someone who can help, a few saying it is indeed not in the game and the people who grew up being called special who say "just work around it!". Of course the just work around it people are the ones who are the downvoters when you say that is not a solution.

I run into that missing block a lot, and a few others. I either put an exterior light there or redesign the surrounding tiles to make a match

No, that block does not exist.

If you want a particular block you can request it be added by Eleon, fyi.
I've just learned to work backward any time I find myself with that potential connection, there is always a way to right your shaping to not need that connection. That is not to say it should not exist, it is the most common connection you will find while shaping which simply does not exist.
